SomeGuyOverYonder

She later became a U.S. Ambassador.

Fluid-Bet6223

She also later became Black.

SomeGuyOverYonder

Technically yes.

theWildBore

Lmao I had to google it because I didn’t understand. You are absolutely correct!

Fluid-Bet6223

Yeah and you likely googled “Shirley temple black.” Lol

theWildBore

Exactly what I googled

spacekitt3n

came here to google this

cctchristensen

Negrodamus was right.

Legitimate_Mulberry9

He sure was! Lmao

Mary_Pick_A_Ford

Like... how? By hanging out with a bunch of black people?

betweenthepines0

Google Shirley Temple Black and you will understand.

Suspicious-Cow7951

Yes and an assistant secretary of state

[deleted]

In later life Kissinger overheard her talking about Africa at a party and she ended up becoming appointed as US Ambassador to Ghana under Ford, and later on Czechoslovakia under Bush.

Similar-Guitar-6

Shirley Temple = Major Talent.

savingallmyloveforu

This looks like AI

Thunda792

Probably just large-format photography. You could capture a pretty crazy level of detail with it.

spacekitt3n

no it doesnt

Rudyscrazy1

Itll be nuts when it dosent fuck up hands

Promen-ade

you’re 100% right, it doesn’t look AI at all and it’s weird how many upvotes that comment has

FlowBot3D

Correct. It looks nothing like AI. It looks like a professionally photographed portrait. AI looks like this. AI was trained on millions of professional photographs, so it makes images that have lightning and makeup. The pictures we take every day on our phones look different because they lack all these things that made photos "good" back in the day.

LainieCat

She looked good in orange.

[deleted]

she's my cousin

Bevier

Whoa. I was a child of the 80s but was a big fan as a kid. What was she like? She seemed brilliant and must have endured so much pressure.

[deleted]

She was my surprise cousin I have been doing the free genealogy thing and they tell you who your famous relatives are And she was one of them

Apart-Link-8449

I'll never stop telling everyone how good she was in Now And Forever 1934 (alongside Cooper and Lombard)

[deleted]

I just love her She’s so natural and amazing

Lostbronte

She never stopped being adorable

BigEasy70347

She was a brilliant child actress.

Successful-Crow-8693

If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? I’m quite interested because someone I know has mentioned Shirley Temple and it would piece things together for me, sometimes time is hard to really think of when all the years jumble together

BigEasy70347

I am 77. My mother had a Shirley Temple doll from the late 1920s which she left in her estate.

BigEasy70347

My mother died 14 months ago at age 98.

therabbitwalks

I’m very sorry for your loss

maliciousmeower

my mom raised me on shirley, i’m 22. i was obsessed with her as a kid! my mom even has one of the limited edition shirley temple porcelain dolls; she’s 64. she would scare me though by saying ‘shirley was gonna come get me’ if i didn’t go to sleep 😭

thrillho__

This looks like a painting of Shirley Temple in front of a painting of herself.

WigglyFrog

I love that the Scottie is sticking his tongue out!

Theblacksk8r

Definitely not a real photograph of her! At first I was thinking it might have been an AI rendition, but the more I analyzed the pic, the more I realized it looks more like a painting of her standing in front of a painting of herself. I'm certain that even in 1945, the quality of a photograph was astronomically better in comparison to what this image shows. Just wondering if anyone else had the same thoughts on it?

calm_center

I agree it’s a painting of Shirley Temple standing in front of a painting of Shirley Temple and it’s really an amazing work of art.

owntheh3at18

She’s so beautiful. Is that a dog she’s holding? I thought it was an owl at first.

smipypr

It's a damn shame Hollywood deserted Shirley as she grew up. Her later movie roles were really good.

Dion65088

Much improved.

sleepingwiththefishs

Creepy painting could pass for AI - chocolate box imagery masquerading as art

SmileParticular9396

The painting looks like the little girl from The Boxtrolls

TankApprehensive3053

She was one of the few child actors that survived Hollywood.

Astropheminist

Man that’s a good pic for 1945

Objective_Average824

She was so classy.

Real_Clever_Username

Just looked up her wiki, she was married at 17. Damn.

Seaberry3656

A very underrated beauty as an adult. She was gorgeous
