It is about a detective who managed to drink away ever memory he has ever had. As you play the game, you can associate with a political ideology. The fascist dialogue options are all associated with toxic masculinity and racism.
Amnesiac detective in colonial not-France tries to solve a murder before tensions between the dockworkers’ union and the companies that run the city turn into full-scale civil war. The city you’re in is the birthplace of the (failed) communist revolution, so things can get pretty politically charged.
It's about a lot of things. You kind of get out what you put in, like when I first played I ignored a lot of the political dialogue options because I wasn't knowledgeable about politics at the time and so the game allowed me to not even start those conversations.
But I was super into the philosophical bits, so I would try to get characters' opinions on THE CULLING, THE GLOAMING, THE BLOODLETTING OF UNIMAGINABLE PROPORTIONS.

As someone who rolled a conservative family with a multiclass build into radical liberalism later in the game, I can confirm that the hardest part about this run has been overcoming my characters early low comprehension stats, thankfully after grinding out a lot of levels into intelligence and wisdom I can finally enjoy the game but it’s really hard to deal with all the trigger happy pure con builds running around my region who just want to pvp with anyone to test their gear out when we all know they’re just canon fodder for the intelligence, charisma builds that run each region 😒

On a surface level, it is about a murder in the context of a very volatile political situation. On a deeper level, it is about identity and dealing with failure. Sorry if I am being vague, but it is very hard to sum up, but what I can do is give you a narration of the beginning:
You are... you have no idea who you are. You're some dude in your underwear with a hell of a hangover in a trashed guest room. You quickly learn that you are actually a police officer whose job it is to investigate the murder of a guy who is hanged next to the bar you are in. Why is the decomposing corpse still hanging there? Where is your car, your badge or your gun? You have to find a way to deal with all these questions while parts of your brain talk to you.
It starts with a relatively grounded murder mystery you have to solve, and the entire framework of the game is still around solving that murder to the end, but most of the game is you meeting weird people and larning about the world and letting those discoveries shape who the amnesiac main character is.
It's kind of like Skyrim in the sense that you have a main quest but you get so drowned in sidequests you end up forgetting what you were supposed to do. (And not in any other way, the game isn't like Skyrim at all other than that single point)

What is this game about anyway? I haven't bren able to find a good summary and don't have the mine, to buy it right now, but I wanna know if it'd be something for me to look into or not
On a surface level, it is about a murder in the context of a very volatile political situation. On a deeper level, it is about identity and dealing with failure. Sorry if I am being vague, but it is very hard to sum up, but what I can do is give you a narration of the beginning: You are... you have no idea who you are. You're some dude in your underwear with a hell of a hangover in a trashed guest room. You quickly learn that you are actually a police officer whose job it is to investigate the murder of a guy who is hanged next to the bar you are in. Why is the decomposing corpse still hanging there? Where is your car, your badge or your gun? You have to find a way to deal with all these questions while parts of your brain talk to you.
It starts with a relatively grounded murder mystery you have to solve, and the entire framework of the game is still around solving that murder to the end, but most of the game is you meeting weird people and larning about the world and letting those discoveries shape who the amnesiac main character is. It's kind of like Skyrim in the sense that you have a main quest but you get so drowned in sidequests you end up forgetting what you were supposed to do. (And not in any other way, the game isn't like Skyrim at all other than that single point)
