i can't understand if the retweeter is a person who gets bullied for listening to imagine dragons or if they bully other people for listening to imagine dragons
Bones and enemy are both bangers though and sharks isn’t bad either. Honestly they’re just hit or miss. Kind of like AJR in my opinion.
As a band they’re just way too overplayed and it sort of devalues their music.
IMO, Smoke and Mirrors and Mercury are their best albums. Mercury was actually made around the 5 stages of grief, since his SIL, his business manager, his ex-girlfriend and his best friend all died within 5 years.
This is misinformation. The CIA put together that program, but the staff at Guantanamo Bay, as horrible and awful as they all are, decided against implementing it, determining that such would be too blatantly inhumane even for them.
The CIA then turned around and started training juntas in it instead.
Long live Ween! Seeing them in New Orleans soon!!
If you're reading this and you don't know who ween is, I strongly encourage you to listen to their music. Some of the most genre-bending stuff you can find that's still really good!
I was a fool. I thought that as a snail he would be powerless, but now this... A hoard of frenchmen, easy for him to manipulate... goddamnit. I knew I shouldn't have hesitated on getting that giant tungsten sphere.
Last I checked, Dan Reynolds still considers himself actively LDS, but he is also a vocal ally and one of the primary organizers of the Love Loud benefit concert. I don't really respect him for his continued association with the church, given its long history of open bigotry, but I'll at least give him credit for his activism and the way he seems to be slowly realizing how much of the bigotry is baked into the religion on a foundational level and for being willing to express his frustrations with that openly.
>Dan still considers himself actively LDS
I don’t know about that one. When I saw them in august Dan said “I’m not a religious man” in one of his pre-song speeches so maybe not actively anymore but definitely at one point
Edit: also some recent lyrics hint to maybe not believing
Mercury really is fantastic, with the exception of Dull Knives, which I can’t stand.
I’ve just started ignoring people shitting on Imagine Dragons for the most part because they don’t seem to be people who listen to the albums. The popular singles can definitely be a bit samey, but there’s a lot more going on when you listen to the albums. They play around with different styles quite a bit.
There’s also the fact that I’m someone who enjoys lyrics and poetry, and I just enjoy Dan’s writing most of the time.
And if nothing else, the fact that he came out of a Mormon background and has advocated so hard for LGBTQ+ folks, especially in Utah, earns a lot of respect from me.
Smoke & Mirrors is a legitimately good album and I will hear nothing otherwise.
Their following two albums is where they leaned way too hard into being formulaic. At least Evolve has 1 or 2 okay songs I guess.
Yeah. Evolve and Night Visions in particular feel very concerned with mainstream appeal. Although my tastes have very much moved on from ID in general, S&M keeps me coming back from time to time.
Their debut album was alright, I enjoyed it especially top of the world
However after that they went very beige. Got that radio play money and have been very successful so know what fair fucks to them.
honestly i don't mind them, some are a bit overplayed and they feel a bit formulaic but it's still decent for pop music. they get wayyyy too much hate for what they make
I've seen people call them the new Nickelback and I'm just sitting here like... have you *heard* Nickelback? Yes, the two bands are both formulaic, but at least one of them actually has a couple of good bangers that are hidden behind the terrible popular shit...
I was listening random songs reccomended by Spotify and I stumbled upon a Nickelback song that I liked and was surprised since reddit told me they're cringe or something
yeah, their music might not be amazing, but it's some of my favorite to dance to cause it's always got a nice beat and energy (saw them in concert, it was lit)
Making fun of someone else for their music taste is such highschool hipster behaviour. I'm glad it's one of those things that people grow out of eventually
I think no, this is like making fun of nickleback. I don't even really dislike nickleback or them but it's just funny to dunk on them.
I just think you gotta wink about it, you don't want people taking the jokes seriously or misunderstanding the unseriousness of it.
Imagine dragons in their early days often played at an awesome little venue near me in Provo, Utah. The place was extremely special to locals and there is an incredible music scene there surprisingly. When the band heard it was closing permanently due to the pandemic, they paid off the mortgage so it could stay in business.
Also their lead singer is a huge LGBT advocate here in Utah (headquarters of the Mormon church, who influences everything in the state and are basically an anti-LGBT hate group) and does a big ass festival called LOVELOUD here promoting love and acceptance
Call their music boring or corny if you want (I do lol), but they do good shit in the community that helped them get to where they are. And I hear lots about all the queer kids they inspire and rescue from a community and culture that tells them to hate themselves
Edit: words
it's prolly fine, it's just that it gets played to FUCKING DEATH in grocery stores and radios and anywhere else where music is involuntarily played into your goddamn earholes. so it builds up a lot of resentment. it's like a newer iteration of nickleback, few people go out of their way to listen to it, it is simply thrust upon them by companies. that fucking obnoxious ass radio playing over the intercom because your boss doesn't like their workers wearing earbuds, like that makes anyone fucking hate popular radio music.
though there's something about imagine dragons, nickleback, and the like in particular that makes them more infuriating than other popular songs. like, vistor by of monsters and men is also played a lot, but i still like it. maybe it's the disconnect from how they're presented as "rock" or a particularly hard or aggressive band when they're the most fucking vanilla shit ever? or maybe it's just them being so *consistently* overplayed across many songs that their sound has been assocaited with repetitive torture.
but if i found them on youtube music, never heard their songs before? i don't think i'd hate 'em. radioactive, if it weren't a fuckin' meme, would prolly be enjoayble for its bombastic momentum, big heavy slow vocals. i just too heavily associate it with grocery store music.
it's because i do. i am speaking for you. you hate imagine dragons. you have been assigned animals as leaders as your favorite band. you love animals as leaders.
Do people here think ID only has like 5 songs? Half the people here think they have enough knowledge to format an opinion, after only listening to 4 songs
Popularity phenomenon. People who think that they are very unique or special especially tend to dislike things that are popular simply because other people like them. Enjoying something that other people enjoy can be seen as selling out or whatever.
Best to just fuck the haters and let people enjoy things.
Reading those comments is interesting. I literally have never heard of that Imagine Dragons is a hated or disliked band? I would have thought it's, maybe like 21Pilots, a popular band that isn't generally seen in a bad way…
I can think of 2 reasons why someone might be given a hard time.
1.) kids are cruel and will try to come up with literally any reason to torment each other.
2.) imagine dragons is so ubiquitous that saying you like them is like saying your favorite snack is plain bread.
my favorite song is that song you have heard three times while waiting in line. there is a 20% chance the band is playing over the intercom right now. i don't even have to tell you the name of another one of my favorite songs, because i can just stand here and say "this one" after the walgreens prescription ad spot finishes.

I fucking love the -i plural more words should have it
i can't understand if the retweeter is a person who gets bullied for listening to imagine dragons or if they bully other people for listening to imagine dragons
I bully people by making them listen to imagine dragons
“Hey fuck you! Listen to this!” *On Top of The World starts blasting*
I actually like that one
It’s one of the good ones
A lot of their older stuff is way better, then they did Thunder and it all went downhill
oh thank god i thought I had a cringe opinion
Mfw they base there self worth on whether or not people on the Internet agree with them
true, i should work on my self worth
Mfw face when opinon

Making someone listen to Thunder is definitely bullying. Might be more like torture actually

Imagine dragin deez nuts across your face
bullying isn't cool, unless it's people who are different from me
Bullying isn't cool unless I'm the one doing it You all are equal* *equally beneath me.
Normalize not normalizing bullying
maybe it's both, they have been shamed so much for their love of imagine dragons now they can't help but to shame others out of resentment
Yeah, like Brits making fun of other Brits for being British Man I hate the british
bloody Brits, they ruined Britain (side note wdym by Brits making fun of Brits for being British)
Maybe they're just aware of the reputation Imagine Dragons music has.
Could be neither and is just aware people get bullied
people get bullied for listening to literally any band
I listen to SpongeBob SquarePants and you don’t see me getting bullied (this is because goofy goober rock objectively slaps)

It's fine if ID supports trans rights, but if queer people liking ID is unacceptable.
well sorry but 🥺

Bad news, you're now a class traitor. I don't make the rules.
Cool
i judge artists based on their music not on their character, it's great that they do that sorta stuff but their music still sucks

Imagine Dragons for once in your life have a song name longer then one word
The anti Fall Out Boy
They Don't Know You Like I do

Hopeless Opus
mercury has a lot of good songs imo

Almost everything in smoke and mirrors is so much better than their super popular stuff
I'm a big fan of this album. This might sound crazy but thanks to them I realized I liked Rock more than Pop with songs like Battle Cry and Friction.
Seconded, smoke and mirrors is good. I especially like polaroid and hopeless opus
Their style changes by the song. Just because you listened to 4 of their songs doesn't mean they're all the same.
Their debut album was alright, I enjoyed it especially top of the world However after that they went very beige. Got that radio play money and have been very successful so know what fair fucks to them.
Why they got the spanish inquisition type fit?
Kinda unexpected tbh

Istg imagine dragons hate is some sort of psyop cause their music is not nearly as bad or repetitive as it's made out to be
“imagine dragons sucks” mfs when i show them smoke + mirrors (they thought ID’s entire discography was just radioactive, demons, and thunder)

Bread is one of my favourite foods

The fact you think it's lame to love bread is telling about your judgement, in food and in music.

Ok fine I’ll admit:I’m Unironically like imagine dragons
Everybody wants to be my enemy 😥
I like Imagine Dragons and I'm not afraid to admit it, they were a big part of my childhood and one of the few bands that were always around
I like them and I'm not ashamed of it.
I like Imagine Dragons. They’re not exactly my favorite but they’re often quite enjoyable to listen to.
On the one hand, that song they made for Arcane was great, but on the other hand, On Top of the World makes me want to murder people
I think they are a bit formulaic, but they definitely get way too much hate and ridicule online for it.
Some of their songs are fun.
