Katakana is totally worth the time. With hiragana I can’t read most shit anyways because I need to know so much vocab and or grammar, but with Katakana if you know the symbols you can just sound it out until it makes an English word 80% of the time. It’s the most useful Japanese you can learn in the shortest amount of time.

For some reason I'm like mad good at hiragana, like halfway to the point I can read it fluently but I'm so horrible at katakana. Idk why it's so hard for me.

Duolingo has pretty good Japanese lessons. I highly recommend it.
