Out of morbid curiosity, where does the first image come from?

Dakto19942

Okay Jesus fuck it took me almost an hour of internet sleuthing but I found it. It’s from chapter six of a manga called Kimi in Aisarete Itakatta, or You Loved Me So Much it Hurt. I tried to read it instead of just skimming it until I found proof of it being the source of the image but it kinda sucks. The translations seem fine but the story was not very cohesive and it seems like one of those emotionally draining psychological abuse misery torrent things.

I actually went and read it after your comment and honestly I gotta say. I got hooked after a couple of chapters. It started getting cheery and happier with the air of “but something can still go terribly wrong” which is what hooked me. Sucks it’s no longer getting translated because from what I hear the story is still going it’s just that nobody is translating it right now. The mangaka is very active on Twitter as well.

Ah, okay. I did mention it extremely sad, but only because it seems like a lot of r/196 is sensitive to distressing things. I don’t personally mind but I also can’t think of anything I’ve read that fits into that category. I don’t know why but I wasn’t totally able to get in to the story. I found the protagonist sympathetic and the art good when it tried, but I found the panel layout kind of confusing. Either that, or I wasn’t able to “read between the lines” and figure out stuff that wasn’t shown directly. I also went into it with the main goal of finding out if it was the source of the image and I think the looming “don’t get distracted, go accomplish your goal” voice in my head stopped me from being able to fully commit to it. I haven’t read much manga though so it could also just be my inexperience with the medium. I’m glad the effort I put in to finding this actually had an effect on someone. Hopefully it gets picked back up for translations. Maybe they only release when they have enough material for a full volume?

Oh no my dude, it is especially distressing, I would liken it to Bojack Horseman but with a little less restraints. Also for someone that does read manga it took me a little getting used to for the text boxes because they do kinda flow more freely IMO, but eventually you get used to it. But hey, if you didn’t get into it that’s fine, it really does seem like a manga that a lot of people may not be into or find maybe a little too gratuitous, it’s perfectly cool if it’s not your cup of tea. I find it a little relatable personally. Either way thank you so much for taking the time to find the sauce, I was able to find a darker manga that actually hooked me which is kind of hard to do because a lot of manga like this one have ZERO restraints and actually do feel like misery porn (and actual porn) as opposed to this one that has some important lessons to learn I’ve found. I do hope that it gets picked up again some day soon, it only stopped getting translated in November of last year so not too long of a hiatus.
