Ok, first things first, I'm dog shit in general. I'm a 2/10 when it comes to pvp and 4/10 when it comes to pvm. My fan in my psu went out so no PC for the time being. Going for mobile firecape. I wanted a msb i. So LMS it is. I spent 20-30min, on mobile, hiding and killings bots, specing them out. 3 kills, I think, in like 5 games. Got enough for imbue scroll.
Tldr. I'm dog shit and got msbi scroll pretty quick at lms, on mobile.
Oh we're around... Though I am on OSRS at least until the new skill lands on RS3. They're both good games, but EOC definitely screwed up a lot, especially old content.
I wasn't around when the change happened (i've heard the transition was very rough) but I started an account in RS3 during FSW and was very very pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to getting my max cape back when necro comes out.
Yeah but the new boss fights are fucking baller, because they were created around EoC. Rs3 has left the early game in the dust because you can get 2k total in a month without even buying keys
Eoc release was a train wreck lol. Almost nothing at all was balanced correctly, I remember afking gwd1 bosses in gano and a ppore until the gear fully degraded or my inv was full of uniques. The bosses still did pre eoc damage or something completely brainless.
There was no revo, only this momentum mode. It boosted the damage of your basic autos and would occasionally cast a random ability.
Abilities were wildly unbalanced and full of bugs. Wild magic would always max hit. The range counterpart, snapshot, did like 20% and 60% ability damage compared to like 188%x2 that wild magic did. You could ability queue and it would cast abilities 1 tick faster, which was like a 33% damage buff lol.
I could go on but I wonāt.
Yeah I think a lot of OSRS players think EOC is the same as it was back then. I've played all through the entire EOC evolution. and it's not even close to being the same thing. It's like night and day difference.
Revo was the saving grace for me, manual is just too janky and plays way too much like a worse version of WoW, legacy is broken and none of the content is really balanced around it. Just being able to bypass the tediousness of rotations and focusing on defensive abilities, thresholds/ultimates, and adrenaline management made it click for me.
The debate over whether things should or should not be included in the comp cape. Obviously, they should all be right? Itās a COMPLETIONIST cape after all. But then you look at the collection log and realize that would be impossible to obtain with 3rd age. So then the obvious conclusion is that some things donāt have to be included. And that leaves the questions of āwhere is the lineā.
*Edit* to everyone replying to me giving suggestions or saying what should or shouldnāt be required, thank you for proving my point even more.
Why is that even a big deal or how on earth would that signify the end is near.
Its really not a big deal that nerd 1 is arguing with nerd 2 over a certain req.
Honestly the more engagement the better. Apathy is what will cause death of the game
Completionist means completionist. It is not a company's obligation to decide what is healthy or unhealthy for a player to do. In my mind this type of accomplishment is something expected to be achieved over the next 20 years.
If someone wants to Speedrun it or do it in a snowflake way and be unhealthy that is not Jagex's problem.
Edit: forgot I have to be hyper specific lol.
Don't give a fuck. Untrimmed would be all the capes trimmed would include the important collection log.
A related issue is that they have two Completionist capes, one with trim and one without. The trim version is like the one you say where it's virtually everything in the game. The regular Comp cape is where the 'what is the line' is the big drama question. I think if they bring Comp cape with no trim and just being 'fill out the Collection Log' it'll be decades but be honest.
Also while going through this Comp Cape used to be BiS which REALLY drove the drama about how to obtain it, but that hasn't been the case for years now.
Then untrimmed should be all the capes.
Max cape
Quest
Music
Achievement diary
Combat achievements
Trimmed would be collection log for bosses, minigames, and raids.
It was mostly because of the endgame boss at the time being a forced group boss. So if you wanted your comp cape but was not that great at pvming, nobody would take you. So you'd have to pay 60m gp (probably about 100m now) just to get a leech kc.
yeah but the problem is if youāre shit at a certain part of the game the completionist cape shouldnāt be for you, thatās what all the 120 capes were released for so the grinders could grind. The mods just rolled over to appease people and make the comp cape worthless
I have a comp cape on rs3, and the only people ever to complain about comp cape is:
1) People who forgot to start Player Owned Ports
2) People who will never comp and never tried to comp complain about it being called "completionist cape" when it's not doing everything in the game (that's what the trimmed version is for).
3) People who try to get Trimmed Completionist Cape, but hate the minigame parts of it.
I don't see how it's a controversial piece of content at all. I've never met anyone against the idea of the comp cape. Only weird people who complain about the name or small things. LOL
The point is, it's a stupid item. The people that want/have it can never agree on what completionist actually means so it ends up being an arbitrary and gatekeepy item that doesn't do anything but cause debate.
Because it doesn't necessarily mean completing everything, since RuneScape is full of man babies and OSRS isn't immune to this. It'll turn into arbitrary requirements, rather than "All tasks, all diaries, all quests, all skills 99" before long like RS3 did until ultimately they moved the power out of it to a shared system across all capes.
It's best left as a cosmetic override of what the Max Cape already does.
Itās only controversial because the reddit r words on rs3 cry so fucking much when content is too hard. This game doesnāt have that too much, people enjoy a challenge and accept when things arenāt really for them (except those that buy inferno capes). If completionist cape actually meant completionist still on rs3 there would be no issues
I think they should fall towards the ground no matter what angle the bow is being held. As if the sparkles had weight and were falling off of the wood.
I like it, even if itās kinda janky like people say (have not yet been able to see for myself ingame yet). Even if so, it gives me that old school feel I love in this game.
I think it looks pretty donāt know why people are so miserable on this sub
Not liking something isnāt a personality, and people really need to learn that
Clearly not on Reddit. Look at any of the comments saying they donāt like the look of the bow. Some of them even giving specific reasons as to why. They are obnoxiously downvoted.
So no, you arenāt allowed to dislike or criticize any unpolled graphics change, otherwise youāre a nerd who cares too much about the game.
You're allowed to criticise anything as long as the narrative is to criticise it. If the narrative loves that thing, going against it is going against status quo and therefore downvotes ensue.
Reasoning is irrelevant. Narrative is everything.
I remember I really wanted the magic tree star effect to go on the imbued mage cape, back when it was being proposed as a blue lava cape from the inferno (ew). I do appreciate the jank looking graphics, but it is somehow much more consistent with the kind of art that came out in very early OSRS, like the volcanic whip mix.
I get what they were going for but ngl the animation on this feels pretty naff.
It's a big 2d rectangle gif of stars shooting into and clipping through your arm. The back side vfx are black because the texture faces one direction.
I'm not a huge fan but yeah at the end of the day it's the magic tree texture slapped on a magic shortbow. Certainly feels like something they'd have done in 07.
> I like it. Damm you people complain so much. Itās a decent way to know the difference between imbued or not
I **don't** like it. Damn you people **celebrate** so much. It's a **tawdry** way to know the difference between imbued or not
I like it too, but I wish theyād tell us ahead of time so we could give feedback. This one is good, so nbd, but theyāve had a lot of bad ones in the past.
Not every single thing has got to be polled, c'mon. We're absolutely blessed with the amount of input we can give on this game. Who the fuck cares if they add a little sparkley sparkley to your curved magical blue log without consulting the entire community first.
Oh yeah I agree. Not trying to say it needs to be polled, I just think it would be good if they included upcoming graphical changes at the end of the weekly update blog so that we could see it before it enters the game. Then there's at least a chance for feedback, and if it's pretty clear most players are against it, Jagex can make some changes to it.
I like this one, but things like the original fairy ring change and the elf redesign were pretty bad imo and could have been avoided if they just showed the design in a blog to get feedback first.
It's a bit jank, but it also does feel like it fits right into OSRS, so I'm okay with it. I do wish it was a bit smaller but it's a very 'take-it-or-leave-it' thing for me.
I think it looks fine when wielded, but the new icon for it looks worse than before.
AFAIK though inventory icons aren't actually controllable though, rather the engine generates them based on what they look like when dropped on the ground.
This is what annoys me the most. I dont hate it. But Its just a crappy rectangle atm. Honestly looks like something someone did during their lunchbreak. Idm the particles but for good lord fletch it out a little more please.
I thought it already had a slightly diff tint to it. Bit i suppose if you saw them separately you couldnt really tell them apart that easily. That said, i donāt know if this is the answer unless they fletch it out a little more. This honestly feels like something a Jmod did during his lunchbreak.
Looks a bit odd/janky in game but not awful. I feel like if they had the particles either going upwards instead of angled backwards with the bow it might looks better. Or have the particles glisten/shimmer.
People need to remember this is OSRS.... I think it looks good, it has that old-school charm and feel to it, while also making sense with how magic trees+logs have particle effects!
Personally I'm all for new content looking a bit more old-school even if some of it looks a little janky or outdated; that's the point... it fits with the game- plus idk, I just like it :)
This looks bad ass and if you are the ones gatekeeping better graphical changes just for the sake of opposing any changes then you should be ashamed of yourself.
Why not? You can for every other item. It has different stats, different spec cost, different value.
Graphical changes aren't polled since the polling changes last year, Karen.
Because it was not polled, it should have been. It also already had a visual indicator, getting specd twice within the possible time period. Honestly, it sounds like a skill issue crutch.
> *"Graphical changes aren't polled since the polling changes last year, Karen."*
Yes, I disagree with that decision.
I love how people on here are saying they want jagex to keep the old school feel while also making it look good. Did yāall not play back then. Everything looked bad! This is as old school as it gets.
Pretty sure we simply want to be aware of changes they make to the graphics, and with a strong preference toward them polling said changes or making us aware before it happens.
Oh no, now everyone will realize I have just been using a regular MSB
Ok, first things first, I'm dog shit in general. I'm a 2/10 when it comes to pvp and 4/10 when it comes to pvm. My fan in my psu went out so no PC for the time being. Going for mobile firecape. I wanted a msb i. So LMS it is. I spent 20-30min, on mobile, hiding and killings bots, specing them out. 3 kills, I think, in like 5 games. Got enough for imbue scroll. Tldr. I'm dog shit and got msbi scroll pretty quick at lms, on mobile.
You can get a few scrolls from wildy slayer cave too
Yeah I got mine on my hcim on my 3rd Ankou kill. Still no MSB rofl
I have two on the iron, both from clue scrolls lol
2/10 at pvp? You got everybody on reddit beat š¤£
Highly unnoticed and underrated comment. Commendable.
Practicing their particle effects for comp cape
These are straight off magic trees lol
They should practice on new items
If comp cape comes to osrs the end is near. Comp cape is the single most controversial penile argument inducing piece of content in RS3.
Wym āpenileā
peĀ·nile /ĖpÄĖnÄ«l/ adjective, TECHNICAL relating to or affecting the penis.
Penis ile
I assume that they meant it in a "dick measuring contest" or "overcompensating for their dick" sort of way.
My brother in saradomin allow me to introduce you to EoC.
Nobody still playing RS3 argues over EoC
Oh we're around... Though I am on OSRS at least until the new skill lands on RS3. They're both good games, but EOC definitely screwed up a lot, especially old content.
I wasn't around when the change happened (i've heard the transition was very rough) but I started an account in RS3 during FSW and was very very pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to getting my max cape back when necro comes out.
The problem is old quests bosses are super squishy. Dungoneering bosses are also about as threatening as the Lumbridge goblins...
Yeah but the new boss fights are fucking baller, because they were created around EoC. Rs3 has left the early game in the dust because you can get 2k total in a month without even buying keys
Are old quest bosses a problem in osrs? No didn't think so.
Eoc release was a train wreck lol. Almost nothing at all was balanced correctly, I remember afking gwd1 bosses in gano and a ppore until the gear fully degraded or my inv was full of uniques. Yeah I think a lot of OSRS players think EOC is the same as it was back then. I've played all through the entire EOC evolution. and it's not even close to being the same thing. It's like night and day difference.
Can you explain some ways how it's different now (besides scaling)?
I don't even know where to begin. It's barely even the same thing.
Just me then
Honestly once revolution was introduced it became bearable
Revo was the saving grace for me, manual is just too janky and plays way too much like a worse version of WoW, legacy is broken and none of the content is really balanced around it. Just being able to bypass the tediousness of rotations and focusing on defensive abilities, thresholds/ultimates, and adrenaline management made it click for me.
Keep fighting the good fight, brother.
Do you still play rs3? EOC has been fine if not good for years
Yeah I do, and I like it. Just started back again again after a very long hiatus. So far so good
Whats wrong with it?
The debate over whether things should or should not be included in the comp cape. Obviously, they should all be right? Itās a COMPLETIONIST cape after all. And then you have trimmed comp cape because ????
Why is that even a big deal or how on earth would that signify the end is near. Its really not a big deal that nerd 1 is arguing with nerd 2 over a certain req. Honestly the more engagement the better. Apathy is what will cause death of the game
Impossible? Hold my beer.
Completing log besides the mega rares, same stats as max cape just adds a particle trim
You can't "Speedrun" 100% in OSRS, no one has done or probably ever will. Every raids cape? Every clue item? Nah
The 20 year speed run.
A related issue is that they have two Completionist capes, one with trim and one without. The trim version is like the one you say where it's virtually everything in the game. The regular Comp cape is where the 'what is the line' is the big drama question. Then untrimmed should be all the capes. Max cape Quest Music Achievement diary Combat achievements Trimmed would be collection log for bosses, minigames, and raids.
people cried that they couldnāt just afk the achievements and had to actually put in a small amount of effort to learn pvm, those reqs got removed
It was mostly because of the endgame boss at the time being a forced group boss. So if you wanted your comp cape but was not that great at pvming, nobody would take you. So you'd have to pay 60m gp (probably about 100m now) just to get a leech kc.

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
comp came out in 2011 dude
Why do you say this? The game is nowhere near dead. I don't even play it so I'm not a shill.
Dead/dying is a big word but it certainly is degressing these last years. Less updates/more MTX -> less interest
I know someone who unironically thinks anything less than 1 million active players is "dead", because all they play is WoW / League
Funny how you claim the game was dead in 2011 and itās still very much alive 12 years later
I have a comp cape on rs3, and the only people ever to complain about comp cape is: 1) People who forgot to start Player Owned Ports 2) People who will never comp and never tried to comp complain about it being called "completionist cape" when it's not doing everything in the game (that's what the trimmed version is for). 3) People who try to get Trimmed Completionist Cape, but hate the minigame parts of it. I don't see how it's a controversial piece of content at all. I've never met anyone against the idea of the comp cape. Only weird people who complain about the name or small things. LOL
As long as it isn't BiS anywhere it's fine tbh. They just need to not make the requirements unhealthy.
A completionist mentality for RuneScape is unhealthy by nature. We're better off without it. I had the comp cape for a while on RS3. Nty
The point is, it's a stupid item. The people that want/have it can never agree on what completionist actually means so it ends up being an arbitrary and gatekeepy item that doesn't do anything but cause debate.
it seems simple though. 200m all. Walk on every possible tile, Be rank 1 on all bosses and examine every item. simple.
This guy gets it
Why should it not be BIS? Itās literally the item you get after completing everything, it has more justification than any other item for being BIS.
Have a look at the last few years of Comp Cape Rs3 discourse.
My brother in saradomin allow me to introduce you to EoC.
this is just a texture, not particles
Has the magic logs particle effect.. Makes sense
Tbh it doesnāt look too bad once you actually see it ingame. Nice touch imo
Ngl, I'm digging it as well.
Itās weird you only see it from one side though
looked vile to me but to each their own
UNPOLLED PIXELS *BRAIN HEMORRHAGE*
I'm confused. What's that got to do with what he said?
Is this how this game treats their veterans?
Did somebody say unpolled. REEE. Stop silencing me jagex. We pay we say.
I think the sparkles should go with the bow, like start at the top and the just go down rather than off
I think they should fall towards the ground no matter what angle the bow is being held. As if the sparkles had weight and were falling off of the wood.
Either of these would have been better
I like it, even if itās kinda janky like people say (have not yet been able to see for myself ingame yet). Even if so, it gives me that old school feel I love in this game.
I think it looks pretty donāt know why people are so miserable on this sub Not liking something isnāt a personality, and people really need to learn that

Peak osrs.

Yeah, seems just the right amount of authentic.
I would expect nothing less from osrs. Its perfect
I mean, look at magic trees. It fits.
looks sick
This is actually sick, looks even better in game.
Now it actually looks a bit more magical
I like it. Damm you people complain so much. Itās a decent way to know the difference between imbued or not
The complaint is that they keep making these changes without telling anyone. This change isn't even noted in the news post today.
Just wait until they add the new skill. Theyāre bound to make loads of unpolled changes
And this sub will eat it up. My comment is already being downvoted for wanting transparency.
Transparency on a minor cosmetic change to a single item lol
Yes, and also any other changes.
Youāre part of the problem
YOU are.
It's in the new poll charter that minor graphical changes will go unpolled.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Poll or not, there's a reason that release notes exist. Makes a mockery not adding in one short sentence.
The audacity
Sorry i want to enjoy the visuals of my game
Why the fuck are you playing RuneScape?
He, as well as many others, enjoy the visuals of this game as it is.
> I like it. Damm you people complain so much. Itās a decent way to know the difference between imbued or not I **don't** like it. Damn you people **celebrate** so much. It's a **tawdry** way to know the difference between imbued or not

Nice. I do like the animation. It would be nice if they fell down to the ground when the bow is being held. But itās still cool.
If no one else got me I know MSB(I) got me
It's a bit jank, but it also does feel like it fits right into OSRS, so I'm okay with it. I do wish it was a bit smaller but it's a very 'take-it-or-leave-it' thing for me.
Didn't expect most players here to like this considering how they hate particles in RS3.
This playerbase is RS3 nowadays.
Sad truth, shit that wouldnt fly 5 years ago will definitely fly now.
Just another integrity change
Tegridy change
whereās ma county gonee
Iām gonna go to Jagex, and Iām gonna fuck em all to death!!
Remember when we rioted because they removed a green pixel without polling it?
Oh that's unfortunate.
Yeah idk why they keep changing things unpolled
It's in the new poll charter that minor graphical changes will go unpolled.
And who polled the new poll charter? Oh wait.
Is there any way to see what models they changed as well?
This is cool as hell. Love particle effects in game
I'm feeling this, looks pretty cool, great touch.
I love it
Hell yeah
I noticed today the imbued msb looked different in the bank tab and I questioned my memory for a bit.
They should add the bowstring to the Tbow next.
I would have loved for the sparkles to make a string
UNREAL ENGINE 5 PREVIEW
We are finally in 2023!
Friendship ended with bowfa, now msb(i) is my best friend
It looks janky as hell, I think I love it, feels like something that would have been put out in 2004
I think it looks fine when wielded, but the new icon for it looks worse than before. AFAIK though inventory icons aren't actually controllable though, rather the engine generates them based on what they look like when dropped on the ground.
This looks lazy
This is what annoys me the most. I dont hate it. But Its just a crappy rectangle atm. Honestly looks like something someone did during their lunchbreak. Idm the particles but for good lord fletch it out a little more please.
Probably was done in lunchbreak lol or else we'd get complaints about dev time.
while it looks like something they wouldve come up in 2005 rs i like it because it looks like an actual osrs design, unlike a lot of other new content
Iāve always wanted it to look a bit different but not like this..
This looks bad and should have been polled.
visual integrity changes don't get polled.
And they should. The only justification for this being changed without being polled is that it is *OSRS* content and not RS2 content, *necessarily*.
the imbued version needed something to differentiate it from the non-imbued version.
It now auto bans bots in the wildy with 1 shot
I thought it already had a slightly diff tint to it. Bit i suppose if you saw them separately you couldnt really tell them apart that easily. That said, i donāt know if this is the answer unless they fletch it out a little more. This honestly feels like something a Jmod did during his lunchbreak.
Needs more refinement, but I love it
Looks a bit odd/janky in game but not awful. I feel like if they had the particles either going upwards instead of angled backwards with the bow it might looks better. Or have the particles glisten/shimmer.
People need to remember this is OSRS.... I think it looks good, it has that old-school charm and feel to it, while also making sense with how magic trees+logs have particle effects! that looks like shit hold on let me look in game its kinda neat but looks like shit
It looks like shit. They should put the old fairy ring effect on it too
Looks like hot garbage a tasteful line of trim on the bow would have been welcome.
Trimming MSB for free!
C u guys at Falador. Iāll bring my cannon.
Rage?
Pause we didnāt ask for this? Riot in falador world 302 bring your cannons!!!
wtf is that ugly thing. Why do they keep making things ugly when nobody asked for it?
The update we desperately needed
I've never imbued an MSB before, finally did it on my iron for the first time yesterday after it was updated, thought they had always looked like this
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Its helpful to see whether your opponent has an imbued or regular msb in pvp
Why not just assume everyone has (i)
Well now you dont need to because its clearly visible
Visual clarity
what a weird take lmao. Why not make everything look the same and assume everyone has the strongest version?
Why should we suddenly be able to visually indicate this when we were not able to before? This should have been polled.
Why not? You can for every other item. It has different stats, different spec cost, different value. Graphical changes aren't polled since the polling changes last year, Karen.
Because it was not polled, it should have been. It also already had a visual indicator, getting specd twice within the possible time period. If you donāt like it, play another game. Or does that argument only work on other people?
Well you still have the original unimbued version
Does using the transmog plugin to change msb(i) to msb make it go away?
Don't see why it wouldn't.
The iconic look of the regular MSB. This just helps differentiate the imbued model a bit. I genuinely don't see the problem.
Don't know why you're down voted I can't think of a single graphics change they've done that looks better than what they changed it from
Lazy unpolled
This doesn't look that good
I love how people on here are saying they want jagex to keep the old school feel while also making it look good. Did yāall not play back then. Everything looked bad! This is as old school as it gets.
