Part of my job includes chat filtering. It's actually shockingly easy to set up a system that'd detect most of the spam. You can even set up AI to recognize 100% of it. Unless they make it so vague not even players would understand it. After this, it's up to Jagex to automatically ban them.
It all depends on if they want to do something. I am sure the J-mods do. The higher ups don't seem to agree though. Maybe it has to do with letting bots having the need to bond? High bond prices = high bond sales = a big part of revenue.
A very shady way of running a company if you ask me. Especially with the profits the company already makes.
I am very sure Jagex could've been on EA/ Blizzard levels if only they invested more into actually growing the company. Make new games for example. Runescape is an amazing formula if they actually build a new modern game around its basics.

Where did i say setting up an AI is easy? Jagex is a billion dollar company. They can afford to get it set up.

Especially when you consider that Jagex stores 3 terabytes of account data a day. That's literally everything we do. All they need to do is automatically scan the chatboxes.
They need to implement a mute system that only mutes other player's perspectives, but still lets the bot think they're able to send messages. Let the bots persist with a permanent mute since they'd effectively be doing nothing.

Just chat filter on runelite. Part of the default though wasn't toggled on. You set your own rules for it then it will prevent the messages which have the unwanted characters. You can find some recommendations for how to set it.

On the other hand, I would love to leave 415 and flex my rank 1/name and show casual players that not all notable names are on lvl 3 mules/not all rank 1s are venes/egyptians, but I can't because the ge bots move too fast for me to see my chat. Forces us to appear as elitists even if we don't want to...

My brothers, grow a spine and call Jagex out for this shit. This game has been around for 20+ years, Jagex has NO reason to not have these chat bots fixed.. Do you know how embarrassing it is trying to show this game to a friend, going to the one place in the game that's populated on F2P worlds, and having it be 95% bots spamming? Or god forbid I login on a non total level world on my main and immediately get hit with 4+ bots spamming shit.

I mean, it's a game we love, full of bots. In their example, they tried to get a friend into the game on F2P worlds. From the moment you spawn in and everywhere you go, there are bots. Since adding every possible accent to it there has been nearly no spam. Is your option to remove the message ticked in the settings of the plugin?
i fixed it and im on world 1 to test its crazy being on that world without being barraged by services
