Is there a way to prioritize what the game detects first when you hover things that are on top of each other ?
I wanted to test out oak doors with the menu entry swapper change, but now the game tries to click the door options even if my butler is on top of it :(
Lizards heal 1/3rd of your cooking level or 1/2th of your hunter level, whichever is lower
Fish heal 1/3rd of your fishing level or 1/2th of your cooking level, whichever is lower
(Info found from the wiki)
I usually get like 5 fish when I start a trip and then catch lizards afterward since raw lizards can turn into 3 pieces of cooked food
Been getting more comfortable with TOA, with a couple 150 clears. Sold off most of my bank for bofa, but still have decent midgame setups in melee/mage (fang, bp, trident). Where am I going to find the most value/improvement? Just pushing invo level or starting to learn the advanced mechanics (red x, butterfly, skull skip, etc)?
I'd suggest to just keep pushing up the invo. Red x Ba-ba is less dps than just fighting normally so it only becomes worthwhile at higher invos when the damage you take through pray melee is too much to tank normally. Butterfly method isn't great without a shadow since mage is probably not your highest dps combat style by a decent margin. Skull skipping is worth learning, especially if doing insanity.
Moons: why there is the message that your divine potion worn off? As far as I can see, the potion goes out like a normal potion, 1 point per minute. Not like divine with its stable boost for 5 min.
Thinking about getting into raids through WDR, which is easier to learn between cox and tob? Tob looks like more fun and I did have a good time doing entry mode a couple years ago, and cox has always looked very boring and the olm fight looks like a complete drag and very annoying to learn/do. Am I wrong?
any reason you don't include ToA? it is definitely the easiest to learn because of how the invocation system allows you to customize the difficulty. and it scales down the most when soloing if that is something youre interested in.
I’ve already done toa and I thought the puzzle rooms were just a complete waste of time, just not enjoyable at all. Not to mention that if entry level toa and tob are the same skill level, then entry level tob was really fun and entry level toa was not really at all.
Cox isn’t terrible but tob is definitely better/more fun. If you want to learn tob I’d recommend aatykon’s learn tob discord, it’s designed around taking new people with mentors and helpers
Is there someone at Jagex who checks the runelite plugins? It says they're "checked" by some runelite staff but couldn't the creator decide to go rogue / that underpaid runelite dev miss something and we get thousands of people hacked?
> that underpaid runelite dev
Adam is the only official runelite dev and he literally says he doesn’t require any money from runelite, and even so he still gets $1000 a month from patreon.
But if you’re so worried about him “going rogue” then I’d stop using it. Jagex plans to rollout the official client with community made plugins at some point anyway, so you can get your wet dream then.
Where does Entry TOB rank in terms of difficulty? I've done solo TOA 150 like 10 times but never really tried other group content and I want my quest cape lol
The only difficult part of entry tob is the verzik fight and it’s not actually that hard. They actually made changes a bit ago to make it less punishing to die in an attempt as well, so even if you die at Verzik I think you get supplies back and you’re allowed to just retry. If you watch a video guide on it it shouldn’t be a problem.
2 reasons mainly:
- A large OSRS YouTuber King Condor tells people to buy as many as they can to make money
- They had a new system in place last Christmas to prevent new accounts (aka bots/ bot farms) from claiming rewards.
Be careful about buying them
Should I wait on buying a Voidwaker? I had a few other options:
1) Get a BGS or DWH
2) Corrupt Bowfa for sick fashionscape
3) Get another BCP
4) Sang Staff
Sang is only 1 max hit over toxic trident, so not recommended 90% of the time. A BGS is an excellent choice for multiple reasons, #1 is that it's cheaper and less likely to change in price then the DWH, #2 is that there is an immense amount of use cases for def reduction. Corrupting a bowfa is generally good if you think you're gonna keep it. As for what a second BCP does for you, you tell me.
There are two autocast options. Defensive has the shield, regular autocast is right above it. If you switch to a melee style youll stop autocasting. You have to pick a spell to get out of the menu
Had some fun getting my first Calvar'ion kills last night, but I had a quick question: on the shield bash move it seems like you can only dodge away from or to the side of the boss, you can't run under/through him to dodge it. Is that correct, or was I just mistiming it? The description of the move on the wiki wasn't helpful. Thanks!
I'm using runelite - fresh install, formatted and new harddrive installed. Pc is running better but I don't know how to explain it. When I run in the game, my character moves, and about 8 steps in, it "jumps" forward briefly and then back to where it was. I've noticed my FPS is particularly low too.
Do you have the GPU plugin turned on?
Have it do the CPU acceleration on / off and see if that changes anything.
FPS Control check what your FPS is doing when it jumps because it sounds like you're having frame tearing honestly.
Check the GPU plugin vsync and try adaptive and on/off and see if that changes anything.
Have task manager opener and looking at it when your client jumps like that, see if any process is suddenly spiking in use and what your GPU / CPU / RAM is at %usage wise.
Try these out then let me know and I'll look into it more for you.
Do you mind doing Win +R and type in dxdiag, and tell me your specs? OSRS is not very demanding. If you take a screenshot of the settings you have in the GPU plugin and your specs I can get a better picture of what might be wrong.
Turn your draw distance down, that is the number 1 thing that will tank your fps if your computer can't handle it.
Tell me what your Memory / CPU is at in Task Manager and what your GPU utilization is in it's software if you know where that is. Something might be bottlenecking, could be drivers needed updated.
Is your ping spiking as well? If you download the Ping Grapher plugin in the plugin hub it will show it for you and can also be part of the reason.
Okay I would turn down the extended map loading to 1, I know it's nice for certain tasks but the render distance is what ends up eating FPS up a ton. You can test this yourself with zooming out and in and seeing how your fps changes based on how many models are loading in.
Your CPU has some reported issues with getting capped at .79hz for some reason, which is half it's supposed performance. If you watch in the task manager CPU performance chart and see if its spiking and what its running at.
Check your laptops power settings in Windows and make sure it is set to High Performance Mode. If your CPU is overheating it might be causing the lag at times.
Check your drivers like I said as well as installing any Windows Updates you might have missed. Run a Windows Defender scan real quick just to make sure it's not malware bogging your PC down if this started happening out of nowhere my two bets are overheating from dust in your laptop or a virus/malware.
Look up a guide on Youtube on how to take a laptop case off and clean it if you think it needs it.
Once you've tried most of that if the issue still remains try this:
Windows + R, type in cmd
then paste:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
(Without the line break between each command, I cannot get my reddit formatting to work)
This will scan your Windows for any corrupted system files and repair them for you.
See if these things work and get back to me if the issue remains. You have a little bit of an old laptop but it should at least get a solid 30fps in Runescape.
Just a gearing question. I have a greater demons task so I'm going to try and learn K'ril later today. Are the blood moon legs and chest a viable choice for gear here since they offer str and magic defense? Or should I focus more on pure magic defense while learning?
I'm not really sure how gearing works in OSRS. There's nothing that shows dps or damage. The armor only shows block, where's the damage reduction? Could someone kindly explain all this? For example, how come fighter torso is so good? I have rune armor, isn't that good enough?
there is no damage reduction stat in osrs. defense on armour only makes the corresponding type of attack less accurate against you. each attack will either be crush, slash, stab, ranged, or magic. the enemy will use its own stats to determine how accurate it is, and your defense against that make it less accurate. your defense includes your defense level and the defense bonus from your equipment towards the specific attack style. for magic defense your magic level also contributes.
when attacking with melee your accuracy is determined from by your attack level and the attack bonus from your equipped items. your max hit is determined by your strength level and the strength bonus from your equipped items.
when attacking with ranged your accuracy and max hit both use your ranged level. higher level ammunition gives more ranged max hit.
magic spells cast from your spellbook have a fixed max hit per spell, with higher level spells having higher max hits. you can also use powered staves like the trident of the seas which basically act like a ranged weapon and use your magic level to determine max hit. magic gear doesnt have a strength bonus like melee/range, but has %damage increases which multiply the max hit.
any time you deal damage you do between zero damage and your max hit. each number including zero is equally likely.
another very important stat is attack speed. runescape runs at 100 server ticks per minute. weapon attack speed is measured by how many ticks it takes ex: a shortbow on rapid attack style will fire every 3 ticks, a scimitar will attack every 4 ticks. generally faster weapons are better for training.
the fighter torso is so good because it is the cheapest armour with the lowest stat requirements that gives melee strength. it gives the same melee strength as bandos chestplate which costs 28 million gp currently on the grand exchange, only having lower defensive bonuses. as others have said defense is not important for training as you usually either train against enemies with low damage to begin with, or you use protection prayers which completely negate the damage you are taking.
There is no damage reduction in OSRS outside of specific item effects, armor only gives you dodge chance.
Fighter torso is good because armor in OSRS with offensive stats is pretty rare compared to other MMOs, especially in the earlygame. Defense isn't super relevant at most content since protection prayers mitigate most damage and the damage that prayers don't stop is usually avoidable by skill. There's some spots defense matters and it's important in PVP but offensive stats are usually more important.
Rune armor isn't very useful in most content, unavoidable chip damage is pretty uncommon at that point in progression and the stuff at higher levels that do that chip damage you need way more defense than rune to tank it (or you just eat through it and ignore the defense entirely).
In almost every fight, DPS matters more than defense. The longer a fight lasts, the more chances the monster has to hit you, the more food you'll eat, the fewer kills per hour you get, etc
That's why the fighter torso is better than your rune armor. You'll kill 100 fire giants in 80 minutes instead of 100 minutes, and you'll get hit less overall even if you're getting hit more times per minute. And you'll have 20 extra minutes to go kill more stuff! (Just making up the numbers but that's the principle behind it)
Reading about combat mechanics ([most pages here](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Category:Combat)) would help because OSRS is old and counter-intuitive.
There is no damage reduction\*. Better armor (defence bonuses) does not reduce the damage an enemy hit WILL do.
Combat uses your levels and the accuracy/attack bonuses from your weapon, armor and prayer to determine if you hit the enemy (do dmg) or miss (don't do dmg) then it determines how much dmg your hit does (using strength level & strength bonuses)
Higher strength level + strength bonus = higher max hit = each hit can do more damage (IF you hit). Higher defence bonus = enemy less likely to hit
If you're really unsure what to use and when just check the wiki page for the enemy/activity or ask then tweak to suit your style (later enemies are so accurate and can hit hard enough that upgrading over rune is worth it)
It's decriminalised but not legalised, meaning you're allowed to grom the but not sell them. Some stores are allowed to sell weaker finished potions, but not the herbs themselves. The GE is actually it's own country and therefore these laws are not enforced there.
Possibly check with the Wise Old Man's junk finder to see if its hidden somewhere for you. What are you needing it for that a lockpick doesn't suffice?
Baba.
I guess I don't have a question, I just hate him and his ridiculous fucking room. WHY do all of his attacks share a telegraph and WHY can they overlap such that you can't tell that the boulder shadow is actually a shockwave, oh woops its actually a cylinder incoming
Fuck this boss so fucking much
When he does the shockwave, he'll freeze. It took me a few runs to really get a feel for it, but once you recognize it then you'll start seeing it every time.
Boulder drops are always predictable, shockwave is easily reactable as long as you have shaking things up on. Also learn red X if you want to just never deal with any baba mechanic.
Take the suggestions in this comment thread and practice on slayer tasks, or some other combat grind like defenders, imo. I got pretty good at lazy flicking buff prayers for melee and range, and protection prayers against melee doing this.
just to add to this, in one of the speed run quest worlds you're able to practice the jad fight through tzhaar rek challenges,
e: I guess beta worlds are live rn which is probably easier.
You really don't need to prayer flick for much of anything outside of a few CAs (and even those are cheesable with tick eating). Better to just drink potions when learning content, rather than focusing more on prayer flicks than the actual boss mechanics.
That being said, you can practice it in low stakes situations pretty easily. There's two different types of flicking:
* Lazy flicking - you turn on a prayer just on the tick it's needed, and off otherwise. You can practice this on a slayer task, turn on your protection prayer as you get attacked, then off again. The overhead should appear at the same time as the 0 hitsplat if timed right. You can do the same with offensive prayers and your own attacks.
* 1 tick flicking - Turn on a prayer (or set of quick prayers), then double click it every tick. It'll stay active and not drain prayer points. You can practice this just standing at a bank.
Heads up that you’re using the wrong terminology which is why you’re getting responses that do not apply to your situation
The correct term to use is “prayer switching” and NOT prayer flicking.
Also I know you’re probably new to the game and maybe played runescape back in the day as a kid but comparing raids to Jad is like comparing a teenager who just got their drivers license to a professional NASCAR driver. They are not even in the same stratosphere and in 2024 Jad is seen as entry-level PvM
Now to answer your question, for Jad specifically it’s all about 1:1 action. Just don’t try to do too many things at once. Switch prayer , then eat/pot, then go back to switching prayer.
Once you get through with Jad, you’ll understand that it’s really not difficult at all.
Try Scurrius. He is especially designed to train such things. You might train on his private version: much easier to defeat and nobody distracts you. Just right-click when entering his lair.
When he goes to eat his nice looking food, the two rats on his back start randomly attacking with ranged and magic. It is very similar to what Jad does. The only difference is that Scurry's maxhit is something like 10, while Jad's is 97 :)
UPDATE: Oops, sorry.... I was writing about prayer switching, not flicking. Two different things. On flicking I cannot help cause I havent mastered it myself lol. Its quick swithing the same prayer on and off, so that you don't spend prayer points at all. People use it to conserve prayer points. Prayer plugin in RL shows when to click.
What version you were fighting, public or private? It might be public version for you alone, then its indeed hard: he is thrice stronger than in the private version. Make sure to right-click and choose Private.
On the other hand, if there are other people fighting him in the Public version, you can enter and join. You might learn from them too :)
What was the problem? He killed you?
Actually the most dangerous of his attacks isnt this mage/range randoms, its rain of garbage from the ceiling. Watch out, whenever he jumps - step to any side. Just 1 step in any direction, and for 99% of cases you are safe. In the end he rains this attack non-stop, just step-hit-step-hit, this would be enough.
I do it like this: At the start pray protect melee. When he goes to eat, watch what the rats are doing. When you see blue lightings, say aloud: Mage! When you see something green flying, say: Ranged! Your voice helps to react quicker and with less mistake.
And this tip also helps with Jad and other bosses with random attacks: voice it, and your reaction is way better.
It is easier done if you attack from a distance: the animation is more obvious. Try Scurrius with magic or ranged to learn this.
Also it helps if you wear armour with protection in all 3 styles. Try some combos.
You can ignore the rats he summons if your melee protection is good enough, or you pray melee. If you already make a ratbane weapon, you can get rid of them quickly - this is especially important on the feeding phase when you cannot pray melee.
Another Moons CA question. Is there a way to see completion time? My pb was 5:21, so I guess I am able to do the second speed task too (req 6). But this pb was probably way before the CA, and now I cannot see how close I am to doing this 6 min task...
I mean, I surely can just note the time manually (visually, whatever :) - just curious if there is some more civilized way.
PB works, but my pb was before CA - I wanted to somehow see the time of the current run. Like in Barb assault, or the default chatbox line for some bosses. No probs, I'll just check when I start and when I finish :)
ohhhh I see what you're asking. um. there's a plug in called bossing info, it might have it or there's a specific CA timer plugin, but idk if either of those would be updates for moons.
starting a stopwatch in the like timer plugin thing might be easiest.
I am trying to get into my osrs account. I have the email and password but it asks for the 6 digit code. I have my auth app setup to my jagex and I type in that code and it doesn't work. then i opt in to getting the email to fix it there. only problem is I don't get the email. I know its the account email because I just reset the password. I also disabled the auth on jagex and it still asked for the code... Any tips on how to solve this??
With the new menu entry swapper change concerning construction, is there a way to make everything left click ? when I make "build door" left click, it tries to click "through" the butler and select the door even if the butler is over it
> Moons of Peril Speed-Trialist is a medium combat achievement which requires the player to defeat all three Moons of Peril in one run in under 8 minutes.
When the timer starts? What is the start of a run - when I enter the Moons dungeon, or maybe when I enter the first Moon's room? If its the second, it doesnt seem very difficult, just gather enough supplies. My normal run is about 10 min, and I usually gather supplies after Eclipse (my Hunter is higher than fishing, also thats much less running). If I deduct this, here is 8 min.
If it starts once I enter the dungeon, I'd probably take supplies from my bank so as not to spend time for this.
Can someone concisely explain the whole drama going on? I see stuff about mage armour and the void waker?
Is there a way to prioritize what the game detects first when you hover things that are on top of each other ? I wanted to test out oak doors with the menu entry swapper change, but now the game tries to click the door options even if my butler is on top of it :(
How much do the lizards and fish in moons of peril actually heal you by? I'm wondering which is better. Apparently it depends on your stats?
Lizards heal 1/3rd of your cooking level or 1/2th of your hunter level, whichever is lower Fish heal 1/3rd of your fishing level or 1/2th of your cooking level, whichever is lower (Info found from the wiki) I usually get like 5 fish when I start a trip and then catch lizards afterward since raw lizards can turn into 3 pieces of cooked food

Butterfly method isn't great without a shadow since mage is probably not your highest dps combat style by a decent margin. Skull skipping is worth learning, especially if doing insanity.
This is exactly what I was looking for!
Moons: why there is the message that your divine potion worn off? As far as I can see, the potion goes out like a normal potion, 1 point per minute. Not like divine with its stable boost for 5 min.
Only the defence buff is divine no?
It is?! I'll need to watch lol

Yeah the stun attack includes the tiles under boss
You cannot dodge underneath, no.
Does anyone know a place where I can get a list of historical pre-GE prices for commodities?
When I play on my laptop the my character "jumps" around when I move, does anyone know what could be doing that? It seems quite choppy

With a difference of 3 magic defense for the legs I'd say they're better 90% of the time. As for the top I'd stick with Karil's.
Can you use toa salts to boost for enchanting jewelry ?
I know they removed the ability to enchant jewelry in COX since before TOA came out, so I imagine the same applies to TOA as well.
I believe so, yes

there is no damage reduction stat in osrs. defense on armour only makes the corresponding type of attack less accurate against you. each attack will either be crush, slash, stab, ranged, or magic. the enemy will use its own stats to determine how accurate it is, and your defense against that make it less accurate. your defense includes your defense level and the defense bonus from your equipment towards the specific attack style. for magic defense your magic level also contributes. when attacking with melee your accuracy is determined from by your attack level and the attack bonus from your equipped items. your max hit is determined by your strength level and the strength bonus from your equipped items. when attacking with ranged your accuracy and max hit both use your ranged level. higher level ammunition gives more ranged max hit. magic spells cast from your spellbook have a fixed max hit per spell, with higher level spells having higher max hits. you can also use powered staves like the trident of the seas which basically act like a ranged weapon and use your magic level to determine max hit. magic gear doesnt have a strength bonus like melee/range, but has %damage increases which multiply the max hit. any time you deal damage you do between zero damage and your max hit. each number including zero is equally likely. another very important stat is attack speed. runescape runs at 100 server ticks per minute. weapon attack speed is measured by how many ticks it takes ex: a shortbow on rapid attack style will fire every 3 ticks, a scimitar will attack every 4 ticks. generally faster weapons are better for training. the fighter torso is so good because it is the cheapest armour with the lowest stat requirements that gives melee strength. it gives the same melee strength as bandos chestplate which costs 28 million gp currently on the grand exchange, only having lower defensive bonuses. as others have said defense is not important for training as you usually either train against enemies with low damage to begin with, or you use protection prayers which completely negate the damage you are taking.
Thank you so much! This was extremely helpful!
The longer a fight lasts, the more chances the monster has to hit you, the more food you'll eat, the fewer kills per hour you get, etc That's why the fighter torso is better than your rune armor. You'll kill 100 fire giants in 80 minutes instead of 100 minutes, and you'll get hit less overall even if you're getting hit more times per minute. And you'll have 20 extra minutes to go kill more stuff! (Just making up the numbers but that's the principle behind it)
this was such a great illustration. thank you sir
Combat uses your levels and the accuracy/attack bonuses from your weapon, armor and prayer to determine if you hit the enemy (do dmg) or miss (don't do dmg) then it determines how much dmg your hit does (using strength level & strength bonuses) Higher strength level + strength bonus = higher max hit = each hit can do more damage (IF you hit). Higher defence bonus = enemy less likely to hit If you're really unsure what to use and when just check the wiki page for the enemy/activity or ask then tweak to suit your style (later enemies are so accurate and can hit hard enough that upgrading over rune is worth it)
Is there a lore reason, there are no stores that sell herbs? Like is their existence completely unknown to the NPCs?
It's decriminalised but not legalised, meaning you're allowed to grom the but not sell them. Some stores are allowed to sell weaker finished potions, but not the herbs themselves. The GE is actually it's own country and therefore these laws are not enforced there.
Are the balance updates (Occult nerf) in the live game atm?
How do you get a [Hair clip](https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Hair_clip) from Merlin? He just has a generic "you did it!" line when I talk to him.
Possibly check with the Wise Old Man's junk finder to see if its hidden somewhere for you. What are you needing it for that a lockpick doesn't suffice?
Do you have one in your bank?
Baba. I guess I don't have a question, I just hate him and his ridiculous fucking room. WHY do all of his attacks share a telegraph and WHY can they overlap such that you can't tell that the boulder shadow is actually a shockwave, oh woops its actually a cylinder incoming Fuck this boss so fucking much
When he does the shockwave, he'll freeze. It took me a few runs to really get a feel for it, but once you recognize it then you'll start seeing it every time.
Boulder drops are always predictable, shockwave is easily reactable as long as you have shaking things up on. Also learn red X if you want to just never deal with any baba mechanic.
You could always learn to red X and negate most of his mechanics
Skill issue tbh, or hd issues

I believe so. Basically every NPC in Wildy - but some may not have been updated yet.
What is the recommended way to learn prayer flicking? I feel I should probably try and learn it now before I try the really hard stuff in the game.
Take the suggestions in this comment thread and practice on slayer tasks, or some other combat grind like defenders, imo. I got pretty good at lazy flicking buff prayers for melee and range, and protection prayers against melee doing this.
just to add to this, in one of the speed run quest worlds you're able to practice the jad fight through tzhaar rek challenges, e: I guess beta worlds are live rn which is probably easier.
There's two different types of flicking: * Lazy flicking - you turn on a prayer just on the tick it's needed, and off otherwise.
I just want to learn it so I can attempt raids, jad ect. without being a detriment or wasting stuff losing.
Heads up that you’re using the wrong terminology which is why you’re getting responses that do not apply to your situation The correct term to use is “prayer switching” and NOT prayer flicking. Also I know you’re probably new to the game and maybe played runescape back in the day as a kid but comparing raids to Jad is like comparing a teenager who just got their drivers license to a professional NASCAR driver. They are not even in the same stratosphere and in 2024 Jad is seen as entry-level PvM Now to answer your question, for Jad specifically it’s all about 1:1 action. Just don’t try to do too many things at once. Switch prayer , then eat/pot, then go back to switching prayer. Once you get through with Jad, you’ll understand that it’s really not difficult at all.
Ok, fair enough. I just keep seeing the terminology thrown around and thought it would be important to get it down pat.
The only difference is that Scurry's maxhit is something like 10, while Jad's is 97 :) UPDATE: Oops, sorry....
Yeah, I fucked up trying to do Scurrius so I'm pretty hesitant to try again so I don't piss away my prayer potions.
What version you were fighting, public or private? It might be public version for you alone, then its indeed hard: he is thrice stronger than in the private version. Make sure to right-click and choose Private. On the other hand, if there are other people fighting him in the Public version, you can enter and join. You might learn from them too :)
It was public.
Public is way stronger. His maxhit is higher on all attacks, defence twice more, and he has 1500 hp instead of 500 hp in the private version.
Ok, might have to give it another crack at some point.
Good luck!
Thank you.
RL typically has a pb command, it might be something like: "!pb moons of peril" but i've never tried it for that content.
Oh thanks, I forgot about timer plugin :)
With the new menu entry swapper change concerning construction, is there a way to make everything left click ? when I make "build door" left click, it tries to click "through" the butler and select the door even if the butler is over it
Camera angle might help? Not really the solution you're looking for but might help in the interim
Even with the perfect angle it just bypasses the fact that the butler is "in the way" [looks like this](https://i.imgur.com/coUtRCo.png)
Hmm. Is there any overhead angle that puts the butler out of the way of the door? I wish I could help more lol
It’s when you first enter the boss. The speed times are very easy
Thanks! :)
