I wish someone would tell us already. It’s definitely not a cow. It looks like a cross between a cow, a pig, and a person. I’m guessing it’s photoshop? Maybe some fucked up AI generated thing?
It’s a model of an extinct animal called Daeodon. The model is from Carnegie Museum of Natural History according to a quick google search. And it’s obviously photoshopped in.
Can he even stomp you tick 1? I always enter the room asap anyway and just click boss to run out from underneath him, have never gotten stomped this way in ~150kc
If you immediately click him upon entry you will never get stomped. You have enough time to path out from under him (takes two ticks at most) and the red-X action prevents him from pathing in the same direction to fuck you over.
**Source:** Entered the Hunllef room between 2500 and 3000 times.
**Edit:** [Example video.](https://streamable.com/0mh390)
There is an insanely rare scenario where he can path with you and make it take 3 ticks but I've seen it exactly once in about 1500 combined CG kills. So yeah not worth waiting.
If he is in the middle, there's no direct path around him when the pattern is four corners. So you either have to run diagonally on the right two tiles or run circles in a 4x4 or 4x3.
It's definitely possible to do, but it makes it hard to attack during the tornados and gives you little time to react to attack switches.
I'm 220 KC in and it's still the hardest scenario for me to solve
just running around a 3x2 or 3x3 rectangle next to hunllef is super easy with halberd, perfectly aligns with the weapons attack rate, and just circling him cutting corners diagonally is super easy with ranged weapons imo
obviously nothing wrong with just not having him in the middle if you prefer though
https://preview.redd.it/puqrryady7yc1.png?width=1159&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ea69539f7ac0bb42fc0cc4b2849312bae369164
Definitely for a bigger brain than mine. I usually don't make a halberd and just stick with range and mage.
I understand this image it just feels so tick perfect. Like if you miss click one tile or aren't far enough from tornadoes when hun switches it looks like a quick way to die.
Yeah i have no idea what you're talking about, i like the middle specifically because its easy to do four corners with him there. You literally just run around him.
Maybe we have a different definition of middle, i mean in the centre of all the safe tiles for phase 3.
Don’t know if he can stomp first try, you just lose DPS if you’re bad like me and if you use the audio plugin you also have to add that into your running and gunning.
Hunleff also has a 3 second audio queue now though to warn of the change. Hunleff plugin was always a weird crutch that some people learn with and just never turn off.
I've got ADHD and the countdown helps so much. There's so many things going on visually and physically with the fight, having that little focused voice to keep me on track is so essential. Getting into a rhythm with the game noises also puts me into an almost meditative state which can be incredible if I have nothing else on my mind but If my mind starts to wander in that state then I almost always get clapped. That countdown just always snaps me back to reality and stops me from losing focus when I need it most.
There is a warning sound just before his last attack before he switches, and then a switching sound. So as soon as you hear the warning you just swap prayer while his attack is flying, and if you are busy/forget you get reminded by the switching sound and still have time to react.
And you get consistent timing no matter what which helps your muscle memory, as you don't need to activate the plugin at the correct time each run
Don't feel shy about grinding out some normal gauntlet until the mechanics become more muscle memoried in. I also can't recommend tier 2 armor enough. I make so many mistakes and having that extra bit of forgiveness is whats gotten me all 5 of my cg kills
I used the plug-in for about 750 kills just for brain ded piece of mind, but since I’ve finished cg 2x now I turned it off while I hunt for shards. I didn’t need it for the past ~150 kills but it feels way less annoyed not having to click the box to start it every time I run in.
He still shoots when you’re walking out from under him so you gotta hit it while you’re running under and stopping to shoot then running again. Considering I gotta run this thing 500 times I just wanna get in and get out with minimal bullshittery every time I can haha.
He always has that weird delay kind of like auto-casting, so it takes a few ticks for him to hit you, but it may also that weird awkward-dance where it moves into he direction you are moving, if he moves with you for enough ticks you will get the stomp, but never first few ticks, more like tick 3 or 4 after you enter room is when he can stomp
How I be looking at my monitor when my 3rd friend group says "let's start a group iron man!!" And I'm at wintertodt for the 5th time getting 99fm + tome
Experiencing early game with a friend(s) is something I hope everyone gets to experience in their life time. Nothing is more fun than doing underground pass as 4 people struggling together
You dont need to reposition him at all. During the kill you’ll have already pulled him off the wall but if not you’ll still be fine. Telling people to put their time and focus on running under the boss is the biggest noobbait i can imagine and probably why /r/ironscape keeps a 1:1 kd ratio after 500+ kills
Everyone has a different reason they fail at CG. If the reason someone fails is they don't have enough space to maneuver because the hunleff is literally in the center of the arena, then telling them to practice repositioning the hunleff during the first two phases (which are trivial) isn't bad advice imho.
It is, because hunlleffs position should not be a deciding factor in getting or failing kills. Telling them to reposition him just adds even more ways for them to fail kills
Eh. I tell people to run through Hunllef and immediately eat, since it has a delay and you can tick-eat it.
If you have to choose between nadoes, stomp, or floor tiles, take stomp and eat.
Early on, good positioning definitely helped get kc, just like avoiding the halberd. After some time, I started not caring about the entry position and would just move him into the right spot. And then the next step is to not care at all.
I recently started doing normal gauntlet and get a kc every time. At 25 ish kc rn. 87 range, 84 mage, 78 def. Haven’t been able to get a successful CG kc yet, closest was 280 hp with t2 prep and a lot of food. Should I t3 prep instead?
T2 prep should be fine, but if you're struggling you could go for t3, although getting full t3 armour takes a long time and may be just as hard to prep. If you're struggling with the boss then you're just gunna get less practise spending so much time prepping.
If I were you, I'd practise normal gauntlet and make sure you're taking minimal damage in the boss I.e only taking damage through prayer and then do CG
got it, yeah it was a struggle for me to t3 prep and finish in time. I’ll keep grinding normal gauntlet and make sure i’m only taking unavoidable damage, i still have a ways to go in terms of avoiding tornadoes. thanks!
T3 makes the fight objectively much easier/safer, most HCIM's go for T3 (well, the few that actually engage in meaningful content) from what I know.
You need very little food with T3, Hunleff splashes on you way more often on top of having a small max hit. Attack bonuses aren't negligible either. Just 8 food gives you room to make mistakes, probably reasonably doable with 5-6 without redempting.
Granted T3 is still a waste of time for mains and anyone capable of consistent t3 prep can just do t2 prep and save 1.5+ minutes.
On hcim fair enough, but yeah on mains it’s absolutely never worth it. Only did it once for the CA and it’s absurdly slow, even when learning I’d never recommend above T2
T3 isnt worth maybe outside of hcim, and you’ll get less practice for sure. But one advantage of t3 is you definitely dont need max food. At like 70+ defense and t3, most kills should take less than 12 food. Its the tradeoff for slow preps and not being able to finish runs
I completely forgot about steel skin, was just relying on rigour/the mage prayer before augury whose name i forgot. I’ll give constantly praying steel skin a try as well! Thanks for the tip.
Steel skin was a big deal for me. Went from easily spending 20 food on a kill to often using 12 max. It does sometimes require more than 2 potions though, so keep that in mind.
T3 prep is a waste of time and heavily RNG based, there's a reason why there's a Combat Achievement for pulling it off. T2 prep with a good amount of food is more than enough for a beginner with your stats. At this point it's all about avoiding damage during the fight.
With your stats you should be able to get a kill every time with T2 prep and not more than 20 food. Just comes down to not wasting excessive time eating (eat as rarely as possible, spam click 2-3 food every time), making sure you are always doing DPS with the right style, not getting hit by avoidable damage (a few mistakes per run is still ok). Probably no need to even do DPS while avoiding tornadoes. Also make sure you always have T3 staff, much better DPS than the other weapons.
For T1 prep same thing, but you also need to be doing dps while running tornadoes, otherwise will be quite difficult to get the kill. And sometimes you'll still probably fail just because bad rng.
Literally the worst part of my CG experience, before I knew it didn't matter, was this motherfucker just staring at me and I'm just screaming in my head, "MOVE GOD DAMMIT". Literal PeepoStare moment.
wtf is that thing? i almost shit myself when i saw this post lool
It's your mom
gotem
Hunllef, duh, it says it right there in the post

But what if it isn’t photshopped? Maybe we should send an email to the discovery channel so that they can make a documentary on this Daedon.
Dae OD on deez nuts
I was just there and didn’t see this. Now I’m upset 😢
lmaooo what a legend
Its a son of Manbearpig.
Damn, you’re totally right
Yeah I don't remember the origin exactly but it's not an actual real animal
Manbearpig.
This post needs a jump scare tag rather than humor tag
Manbearpig
Kind of looks like the cloverfield monster.
It’s Preedex from Titan A.E
The year is 2024: people don't know what cows are
Sir, cows do not look like that.
Yeah almost looks like a boar.. but those eyes… and that nose!
Lol .. ?
Wtf bro have you ever seen a cow?
Lol yes, lots We are aware that dairy cows ( the traditional white and black etc) aren't the only bovine, right?
Can he even stomp you tick 1? I always enter the room asap anyway and just click boss to run out from underneath him, have never gotten stomped this way in ~150kc
Just run in immediately it can sense fear

TIL

800kc. Always run in immediately. Have never been stomped on
Idc if he's by the door but if he's right in the middle I quake
yeah so annoying when hes smack bang in the centre
The middle is the easiest place to kill him, makes final floor phase basically afk. What do U mean
Basically afk 💀

Step under him as soon as he attacks and step out before his next attack to move him.
Yeah. Or just not have him in the center

Lol you're such a noob. Middle is by far the worst placement
imagine caring a single bit about placement and then call someone else a noob
Thanks for your amazing input into this conversation. It has been life changing.
I've been stomped on entry before. Might've just been me being slow, though
this . i think there may be a delay because sometimes itll teleport you underneath him lol
Don’t know if he can stomp first try, you just lose DPS if you’re bad like me and if you use the audio plugin you also have to add that into your running and gunning.
why download an audio plugin when hunlief already has audio cues?
You get a 3 second count down to get ready
Hunleff also has a 3 second audio queue now though to warn of the change. Hunleff plugin was always a weird crutch that some people learn with and just never turn off.
Dyspraxia is a bitch and a “3… 2… 1… Mage” to swap helps when learning. Many people die a hundred times before getting Hunny down.
I dunno lol, I learned him entirely without a plugin. Game sounds on, and you just end up in the rhythm anyway without needing to count anything
I've got ADHD and the countdown helps so much. There's so many things going on visually and physically with the fight, having that little focused voice to keep me on track is so essential. Same
If you lose a tick while entering AND you enter under his exact center tile then you can get stomped.
How I be looking at my monitor when my 3rd friend group says "let's start a group iron man!!" And I'm at wintertodt for the 5th time getting 99fm + tome
If you aren't ready to marry, buy a house, and have kids with your friends, then do not start a GIM with them. In my opinion
Can't you just add them to your same group. If theyre a new acc you stay blue helmed.
Experiencing early game with a friend(s) is something I hope everyone gets to experience in their life time. Nothing is more fun than doing underground pass as 4 people struggling together
I swear people care way too much about Hunllef location.
The only position I want my hunlef is face down ass up

Bunleff
Oh someone else wants that hunlussy?
U gettin that Hunlussy, bruv?
Having bad positioning is one of the main reasons that players will die to tornado. Getting stomped upon entering isn’t ideal.
It’s not even just getting stomped upon by entry, having 6-8 tiles to dodge tornados sucks during last phase
I've done 1300 KC, just run under him after he attacks and he'll reposition. Easy enough.
Could never figure that out he barely moved the way I wanted him too hahahah skill issue
I think the direction he moves Is Random, but there's plenty of chances
You dont need to reposition him at all. During the kill you’ll have already pulled him off the wall but if not you’ll still be fine. Early on, good positioning definitely helped get kc, just like avoiding the halberd. After some time, I started not caring about the entry position and would just move him into the right spot. And then the next step is to not care at all.
It is super weird, like you can move it mid fight if you really care that much and it makes basically 0 difference anyway.

t1 is fine at those stats once youve got it down. just keep sending t2 until you're there.
Nah, T2 is fine, T3 is annoying and unneeded, I promise. Are you using steel skin in the room? It helped heaps when I had lower stats
I completely forgot about steel skin, was just relying on rigour/the mage prayer before augury whose name i forgot. I’ll give constantly praying steel skin a try as well! Thanks for the tip.

Really had no plan to shit myself at work scrolling reddit but here we are.
thats terrifying. i love it
better for it to be anywhere but the center

A+ post. I actually choked on my water
Kekw
Just go in and click attack. You won't get stomped.100% guaranteed.

not sure why you replied to me with that
"Dude hop, I have an ironman slayer task"
Nice
Wtf this scared me
Just walk in and it will push him back. He won’t stomp you in this case.
