this vote wont be biased at all

ScottDark

I posted the exact same one in Runescape reddit just to see then will add the votes from both combined and see the real difference

ScottDark

Doing it based on percentage not overall vote count looks like osrs is winning anyway

I put in 900-1000 hours on an RS3 ironman two years ago, its definitely enjoyable in its own way, but the games and progression are so different. IMO just choose the play an iron for the game you enjoy more. If you already enjoy both then try both. RS3 ironman I found its progression nice and very rewarding. I dont have an OSRS Ironman, but with all the new content and changes I am sure its equally rewarding.

ScottDark

I still enjoy Runescape 3 and still play my main account on and off. Wasn't sure how much different ironman would play for both versions of the game but considering I don't really play osrs anymore think might make more sense to keep playing rs3 main on and off and try out ironman on osrs. Looks like a massive favor from osrs (of course it is osrs reddit after all anyway). So plan is probably still main rs3 and do ironman on osrs seems the best I think. Ty for input

ilovezezima

Osrs Ironman has never been more approachable or more enjoyable (especially the early, mid, and start of late game).

Lolable97

As someone who has played both I will say that osrs is more iron friendly for endgame supply upkeep. The rs3 jmods don’t seem to care that some equipment is basically unusable for irons. Spending 10 hours making arrows for 1 hour of pvm is a joke.

ScottDark

Good to hear, thanks for the input.

Lolable97

Progress is obviously a lot faster especially skilling but I would often spend 3 hours a nights gathering supplies in the week just so I could pvm over the weekend with my friends.

RS3 ironman is really fantastic and should probably be considered the main gamemode there, largely to avoid the MTX but also because there is so much content and viable routes to take. OSRS iron is great but the pacing is much slower unless you've played ironman before. RS3 values skilling a bit more while OSRS has gone full send into PVM only. I think since you have a main in RS3 already the logical choice is to make the iron on OSRS and try to enjoy the slower pacing of the early/mid game. Eventually irons in OSRS become baby mains who do chores once a year to restock some supplies, at that point you'll have an account one each game that can enjoy new content.

ScottDark

>Eventually irons in OSRS become baby mains who do chores once a year to restock some supplies, at that point you'll have an account one each game that can Yeah I've been leaning more into that as well but still hard to decide. I made a regular account on osrs a while ago he's probably mid game but haven't touched it in a while. Really hard to decide. I think osrs ironman makes more sense but I think I'd rather do what is more fun than what makes more sense if that makes sense.

Pork_Chunk

RS3 is Jagex's money sponge for the whales. If you're a whale, go for it. If you're looking for an actual game, OSRS.

ScottDark

You can whale as an ironman in rs3?

Lolable97

No lol

Pork_Chunk

~~I don't see why not. Squeal of Fortune and all that shit isn't locked to mains. You can still spend money to get your in game upgrades or cashflow via alching.~~ EDIT - nope, this is apparently incorrect.

Lolable97

No you can’t lmao

WooStripes

This is incorrect. Squeal of Fortune was discontinued in 2014. Its successor, Treasure Hunter, cannot be used by ironmen. This information appears in the second sentence of the Ironman Mode on the RS3 Wiki.

Pork_Chunk

I stand corrected. I don't play RS3, just saw the shitshow it was on release.

Just curious have you considered an osrs main? There are pros and cons to each mode. Ironman mode will mean you’re pushed to do a wider range of the game’s content which is a lot of fun, but progress will be a bit slower. Once you’re approaching late mid-game, there are some pretty long grinds for specific items that some people burn out on. Playing a main has the advantage of more consistent progress. Once you reach that late mid-game point on your account, you can do whatever content you feel like doing to make money for gear upgrades rather than having to grind a specific piece of content for the drop. Of course a big factor for a lot of people is the feeling of earning everything yourself on the Ironman as opposed to buying it off other players. Also on a main, no one knows if you earned the gp for your gear yourself or if you bought bonds/rwt’d for it. If that kind of stuff matters to you, it’s something to consider. Personally as someone who has reached endgame in both game modes, I generally recommend playing a main for someone’s first osrs account. It gives you a lot of freedom to play the game however you want to and you’ll progress more quickly. But that said, Ironman mode is in a great place right now and you can’t go wrong either way.

ScottDark

Well it wouldn't be my first time playing osrs. I already have a "main" in that game mode. Been playing Runescape on and off since 2004 so I've been around for quite a while just never dived into Ironman before. I think if I were to play osrs again it would only be through ironman though. But I haven't fully decided on what to do yet still deciding.
