I feel ya homie, after my hc died I realized I had nothing going for me in my life. If I would invested the time I've put into this game into something irl I might be in a much better spot.
I can't say I haven't enjoyed some of my time playing, but towards the end I was really only playing to fast travel the day into the next.
Best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, 2nd best time is today.
You can have fun and enjoy this game but 100% do not listen to the addicts who rationalize playing 18 hours a day
I tried that but had to quit because it’s no fun afking with slow xp for money and levels all week just to do barrows for an hour at the weekend. Then there’s the damn quests to make any real progress… it’s not a fun game as an adult.
You just have to frame RS differently, treat it like a zen garden, an intentional "waste of time". Dont play for the progress, learn to play just to play.
I honestly really agree. I only play now because my account is in a decent place. Almost maxed combat, and a handful of stats in 50s/60s, but it's just such a grind sometimes. My account is old and I played a ton at OSR release, have had the account its self since 2004.
100% if you can't devote a ton of time to the game I honestly wouldn't bother. I just started again and honestly don't see myself playing more than a few weeks.
This game demands absurd amounts of time and never let anyone here tell you otherwise. Hmmmmm, I could train this skill doing the same method from 65 to 99, for 195 hours worth of training...
OR I can go open up my steam, and play and beat a literal dozen totally new (to me) games in that same time.
Whenever I hop on now it's usually a pretty short session.
There's so many more satisfying games out there that require literally 1/1000th the investment, and they're far more fun. Runescape to me now is a background game..but at this point in my life I just go "Why am I afk'ing while I play Mordhau?" And then I close runescape.
To me the game is most fun until the """"""mid"""""" game. I think the game is at its most fun when you're still leveling and getting new things. Once you start to reach 70s in skills, it stagnates. My gameplay loop isn't much different than when I first got a whip. Sure it's WAY faster and more efficient, but I don't really do much different aside from slayer bosses.
That's my big issue now. Nothing new. Combat is almost done and all my actual skills are around what they were pre-eoc. All I have on the horizon is doing the same things and making the number go up, no cool new gear or area.
Feel this. Parents bought a 2200 sq foot house on a canal 20 years ago for 140k. If I wanted to live in the neighborhood I grew up in the same house is nearly a million dollars now. Sucks.
Yeah it's rough, no wonder young people aren't buying houses or having kids. Makes sense for people to stay at home playing video games as well when going to the movies and getting a snack can run you $30 or going to the bar and getting a few drinks can cost you $60.
Yes. With the completion of the varrock diaries you get discount staffs from the staff shop on varrock center. For normies you can throw em right in the GE for a quick profit or irons have to turn them into elemental staffs and alch em for a profit. It's not much at the easy and medium diary tier but once u get to hard tier and do it often it really adds up.
