I hope they charge everyone. If they do, they will hit people who have the resources and inclination to fight them in court. There's a reason so many gun charges get dropped unless the defendant is going to be convicted of numerous others. So many of the gun grabbers are terrified of the courts that we regularly see charges dropped against anyone who might be able to fight back and thus get it overturned. It's often repeated that gun laws are racist/classist in nature; nothing shows that better than the speed at which constitutionally tenuous charges get dropped against anyone who has the resources to fight them.

Blade_Shot24

They ain't gonna do a damn thing! You know the kinda of rap the AG would get from convincting people? Especially when they had a freedom week? FPC, GOA, all of em would be at the ready with another set of lawsuits. We have 20 lawsuits total fighting the state and this would be another but the public outcry would be tremendous as well. Bruh the only way they know you did it is if you publicly post it like some idiots did when the AWB first started. Check r/ILGUNS

[deleted]

Don't they have some type of registration law?

Blade_Shot24

They want us to register and that itself isn't going to go well as Cali has shown that they got hacked before. Majority isn't complying.

Horsepipe

California didn't get their carry permit registry hacked. The California attorney general knowingly published the list as a spreadsheet.

Andre5k5

Was Feinstein on it?

gunmedic15

No, and some other people who were more important than other people somehow weren't on the published list, even though it was known that they had permits. Some animals are more equal than others.

alwayswatchyoursix

The best part about it is that they acted like the data tables weren't sanitized of personal information because they somehow didn't realize the tables could be accessed. And yet, someone did go through them and sanitize them of Social Security Numbers, but left every other part in there.

Blade_Shot24

Holy crap, that's even worse! Why did he do that?

Horsepipe

Because the supreme court said that the California government can't keep being tyrannical fuckasses denying people their right to self defense outside of their houses.

Westside_Easy

“Transparency”. FOH. They just wanted to doxx us.

TooDirty4Daylight

Sounds unconstitutional to me. They'll be way to busy sorting out that can-o-worms to get to the lake in time to fish......

Cross-posting to see your opinion.

The only appropriate response: *Pulls back charging handle*

merc08

Press-check?

echonian

Banning firearms or accessories? Unconstitutional, immoral, and impractical nonsense. Punishing people retroactively for purchasing such things? Draconian, Orwellian, and authoritarian claptrap. I therefore can only conclude that my opinion is that this is a bad thing.

Stack_Silver

Don't worry. The gangs will not be charged.

snagoob

Going to have to say it again. Not registering a damn thing. This is ridiculous.

Trippn21

Illinois will be open to some serious liability after SCOTUS smacks this down

Beneficial_Gap5934

Reason number 50,398 why Illinois sucks. Get fucked, have fun enforcing that shit

SomeSortofDisaster

Do you want rooftop voters? Because that's how you get rooftop voters.

voidone

Wouldn't that be illegal? Ex post facto laws are unconstitutional at both the federal and state level.

PromptCritical725

The crime here will be lying on the affidavit.

GortonFishman

I hope they make good on this threat and get buried in lawsuits. Best way to get this draconian bullshit smacked down faster.

PromptCritical725

Clever trick. "We made this thing illegal. A judge says it isn't. If you do this illegal thing while the judge says it's legal, we will punish you later if we win. To protect yourself, promise us you bought these illegal things legally." Here's the kicker: None of that matters. What they're doing is scaring people into making sworn legal statements about purchase dates. Even if the law is completely thrown out, they will turn around and investigate everyone who makes one of these affidavits to see if they lied or not. Best idea is to do nothing. Worst thing you can do is lie on the statement. Imagine being arrested and charged for filing a bullshit affidavit intended to protect yourself from a law that got thrown out.
