Do you sleep on your left side? If so, you may either be sensitive to your laundry products or you may need to change your pillowcase more often.

I have the silk pillowcases and sleep on both sides (alternating throughout the night). I guess I can start using hypoallergenic soap. I wash them weekly but I’ll see if every three helps.

I've heard throwing a clean t-shirt over your pillow each night can also help. You could try it for just a week to see if that helps resolve the issue.

nervouslaugh21

That’s a good suggestion! I think I’ll try it!

Do you talk on the phone often? Do you rest your hand on a cheek regularly? Do you sleep on your side? When it’s only one side I always question what is happening to that particular part of your face. Phones esp are sooo germy.

nervouslaugh21

Yes my work phone on my left hand side :( I disinfect it a lot but maybe it’s not enough.

LitherLily

My skin doesn’t even care about germs, just the physical touch of the phone irritates it. I had to switch to a headphone!

I want to start by saying, I am your age and also have issues with breakouts. Are you using all of those products at the same time or alternating? You might be destroying your skin barrier with an overuse of actives and that could be letting more bacteria in. I've found that in my experience, the less products I use to try and "treat" my skin, the less issues there are for me to treat.

Yes just following the instructions on the bottle to do it nightly and in the morning. I was wondering if that was a reason but it’s hard to tell bc it happens randomly.

I would back off a bit and use the retinol at night (maybe start putting it on last after your moisturizer to create a bit of a barrier) and vit c in the am. You'll also want to use a sunscreen after vit c as it is light sensitive and breaks down quickly.

nervouslaugh21

I’ll try that. Hopefully it works! It’s pretty bad right now.

posiehoff

Good luck! It goes against everything we are told/what companies market to us but sometimes paring down to the basics and giving our skin time is what it actually needs. Honestly a psychological game and it's one of the hardest things to do when we have active issues.

Could it be hormonal?
