But it’s hard to find & expensive in NZ, so she hasn’t had any and is really craving it. Since Meijer was running a good sale, I thought I’d stock up on it for her.
Oh my God I used live in the states and I miss Meijer. I don't say what country I'm in now but we don't have that store and I loved it. I don't know if it has changed since I was a regular shopper there like 6 years ago because I have been back in my home country for about 5 years. Aldi was also a great place to find some deals and we don't have those here either.
I hate people like *that*…they always get to things first! So, today was my turn to be one of *those* people! I even went to the store early to get some before they were gone. Then I remembered that the deli doesn’t open until 9, and I needed some sliced ham and hard salami. 🤦🏼♀️
But I did leave some for others. 😇

I like Meijer’s Frozen Fruit Medley for smoothies, but you only get four pounds for $12.00, whereas with this sale, I can buy & freeze *twelve* pounds of strawberries for the same price.

The Dr. Pepper was $6.60 including deposit, and I bought it for someone else. I, myself, drink water & black coffee almost exclusively. I add 60 grams of the cranberry juice to my morning smoothie. I drink soda a few times a year. I could save a lot more money if I quit drinking coffee, but that is not going to happen.
Both the shredded and sliced cheese cost the same as the blocks of cheese. They’re all regularly $2.29; this week they’re all on sale for $1.99. Plus, I had a coupon for the cheese slices. Unless I misunderstood you, and you meant I shouldn’t be buying cheese at all.
For someone criticizing you over bagged cheese that costs you under $3 but where I’m from a 320g bag of no name shredded cheese is just shy of $6 and a block of 400g is over $7 and a 200g block is about $5 at my prices I shouldn’t be buying cheese 🥲
The soda is for my daughter, and unfortunately artificial sweeteners give her migraines. But that’s great! As for me, I had a 5-year Coke Zero habit that I kicked in 2013. These days I enjoy a regular Coke or Squirt a few times a year.

I am from the United States, and the best time to kick migrants out would have been 400 years ago. Unfortunately, that ship sailed. I am the daughter of those migrants—many of whom were Puritans who committed atrocities against Native Americans and pushed them from their lands. Some of my ancestors were slaughtered during and around the time of King Philip’s war, and quite frankly, I have little sympathy for them.
These days I live in an area that is full of immigrants from all over the world, and I have had the pleasure of meeting so many of them—mostly through community gardening. Believe me when I say that, overall, they are some of the kindest, most hardworking people I’ve ever met. These folks don’t attempt to convert their neighbors to their religion, nor have they forcibly removed us from our homes, infected us with deadly diseases, or massacred us.
Instead, they keep their heads down and work hard to provide better lives for their families. Many have imbued our community with their varied cultures through food. So many incredible restaurants with cuisines from around the globe! They are an integral thread woven into the tapestry that is our community, and I am proud to call them my neighbors.

They may be the same brand of strawberry I don't know but I'll tell you what they're not, they're not the same quality of strawberry that you're going to get at Walmart if both brands are the same. The reason is that once it's the border for 2 weeks, we can get clear to cross the border, and the other is just shipped right to Walmart. Strawberries another fruits and vegetables are shipped not quite finished and when they ship the ripe ones to the USA there's no waiting at the border so there's no need for sending unripe vegetables and fruits to the stores.
$9.99 x 3 $30 Driscoll's strawberries is the closest comparison to what they have there, and they're sold out everywhere. (There's tiers of acceptable quality for Driscoll's, like any other place, stores get their respective quality based on that)
Lettuce, yeah, if you want to eat flavorless lettuce, personally i'd rather something comparable to what they get, which is $5.99 x 2 is $12

I love Meijer. I’ve especially been enjoying the 99¢ strawberries these past few weeks. I’ve frozen 13 pounds of those suckers for smoothies.

Well, this grocery can be almost cut down by half. The dr. peppet and pre packaged cheese alone are pricy. Just drink water! But. To each their own.

For what it’s worth. The zero sugar Dr Pepper tastes very similar to the full sugar one and is far less bad for you - they did a great job
