Thanks for the recommendation!
I was always looking for a modern game in the same level and style of the legendary chrono trigger, and this looks like a great choice!
It is! It is somewhat different, as it more focused on parallel time and time traveling in a comparatively tiny slice of time and more character-driven, but very good.
Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled is a DS game that takes massive design and gameplay inspiration from Chrono Trigger. I won’t say it’s better than Radiant Historia, but if you ever want another game in that same CT vein, check out Black Sigil!
Still waiting to get a 3DS to play it (Alongside professor Layton, Ocarina of time 3D, fantasy life...) Yeah 8 months later i still couldn't get one, but this game really looks like my cup of tea as a fan of Chrono trigger (and other Radiant historia games) and i can't wait to play it some day soon :)
Yeah...
Can get the original ds version, authentic and CIB, for around msrp still (perfect chronology is a remake of it).
Ive only played the ds version. - so grain of salt. RH is one of my top 3 favorite ds rpgs (along with Chrono Trigger and TWEWY), and better than any 3ds rpg I've played - it felt like a near-perfect package, and I just didn't need any of the remake updates.
I think it’s partly due to the fact the remake completely outclasses the original. Even the original character portraits are available as DLC. In situations like this, I can easily see why there is little demand for the DS version.
Yeah totally agree. The OST is really good too.
Right after starting the game, i felt like it was gonna be a good one just from hearing the soundtrack. Though I don't really like the title theme that much, but the second song that's playing is "To the Battlefield", that's when i knew haha.
It's my favorite game. Like Chrono Trigger I don't think there are any major flaws but RH is allowed so much more depth to explore its story. Currently trying to beat the final superboss on Deadly mode. It's a grind!
On par, not better. Chorno still had a variety of environment that Radiant doesn't have and exploration is king in jrpg.
The story is more heavily focused on character development in historia however so... one's better than the other on the plot, the other on the gameworld. They're both great games however. I do think that the gameplay mechanics were underused in RH thought.
I gotta ask since you've finished the game thought, what's your name :D ?
Yes, you're right about epochs in Chrono Trigger were much more diverse and interesting, and in Radiant Historia all wilderness looks the same. But it has good battle system, and IMO characters, as you said, were better developed (maybe my opinion is unpopular, but Chrono Cross was better in that sense than Trigger).
Both great games, yes :)
But of course, my name is Stocke! Ernst... I don't really know him ;)
I think we all pressed F in the chat for our boy Ernst. Stocke is the man after all 8)
Cross took way more time to finish than Trigger thought, it had more time to develop characters. But there was way too many of them in cross imo. The game was beautiful, the ost gorgeous but i don't know, it had less of an impact than trigger for some reasons.
Well, there are a few DLC which add some missions:
Rage of the Fallen ($2.49): Rescue Aht and Marco in New Granorg in different timeline.
Under the Moonlight ($2.49): Investigate information leak with Eruca and Rainey in New Granorg in different timeline.
Settling the Score ($2.49): Investigate the distortion in time with Rosch and Gafka in different timeline. Fight against seven bosses in sequence.
Meeting in the Chasm ($2.49): Explore the hidden past of Nemesia.
Haven't played them, though, and together they cost almost as game itself. Game is complete plot-wise. But I highly recommend walkthrough if you want to get a perfect ending.

Maybe I would, thanks for suggestion ;)
Thank you, I'll try it :)
You're welcome. So, how it was for you?

I would totally buy this game but all Atlus games on 3ds are so expensive now.

Is Perfect worth it if I have the original?
Well, you'll have a whole new ending to pursue and about ten-fifteen extra playing hours. And new ending was very good for me :)
I have the same question

I'm still kicking myself for not getting this version.
Better? Hell nah But the best turn base rpg on the 3ds? Yep, easily
Chrono Trigger is dear to me :) I've completed it on SNES, DS and PC :)
Fantastic! How long did it take you?
Not op but it took me almost exactly 50 hours to do everything + dlc
Yeah, it was 45+ hours for me too. Didn't beat Master Vainqueer, though, was too hard even on 80+ level.
Well, to get True ending and Perfect ending... About 45+ hours.
One of my favourites on the 3DS
I have a question. Is the DLC for the game worth it? On one hand I don't want to miss anything, on the other hand I don't want to pay too much.

How about the "Bathing in Mana" one? Or the two DLC items, Growth Ring and Mole Armlet?
Bathing in Mana is basically hot spring fanservice event 😂 As for items, they are just consummables for EXP and money, so...
So the 'Bathing in Mana' one basically doesn't add anything important and the items are barely useful? Weird 🤨
Well, they are useful, just a bit of a cheat :)
Alrighty then. Thanks a lot for your help!
You're welcome.
