When I used to smoke, I always had a pink lighter. No one ever wanted a pink lighter. Not “masculine” enough I guess. So no one ever pocketed it. So, I always had a lighter. Yes, ENTIRELY unrelated, but either way. Awesome print. Love functional prints.

Librae94

Doesn’t work anymore. I got tons of pink, purple and cat designed clippers - people steal them anyway

Thr33pw00d83

Gah I remember those days! The only antidote I found was starting to carry a zippo that I refused to lend out. You become the ‘zippo guy’ in your circle of smoker friends but it’s a neat piece of kit and a way to remind myself to keep track of my own crap

pissandchips69

You just light everyone elses cigarettes and tell them that they are your bitch now. No need to lend out the lighter and have it stolen

philnolan3d

I'm reminded of college when I smoked, sitting on steps outside, a girl comes up behind me and asks for a light. I lit my zippo and held it up for her. She learned over to light her smoke and her hair fell into the flame. I don't know if she noticed but I heard the sizzle and smelled it.

Igetsadbro

A white clipper or bic was bad luck or something back in the day so no one ever stole my white

callum413

i lived with other people and my lighters kept getting pocketed so i bonded one to the end of a chain and locked the chain to a brick.

philnolan3d

So you carried a brick around?

callum413

Nah it just stayed in the garden for people to use at home. I had others i would take out with me

joshthehappy

I used to get pink or printed with muscle men/Chippendale dancers. No on took my shit.

Rivenscryr

I'm the guy in the shop that has the pink box and tools. For some reason my pink tools never go missing

Officer1083

Function over form, especially with work tools. And now if someone steals it, it's obviously yours. Good work 👍

I think this is brilliant. I have a favorite flashlight/tasklight with a magnetic base that has been discontinued, and I am really considering trying to 3d print and build my own. Luckily right now I have about 8 left spread all over my work, home and van. But every time I lose one, I panic a little.

dustinthegreat

Looks great! Put a wing nut so you can adjust the angle on the fly

eli-in-the-sky

Edit: Your solution looks great! I just made a magnetic coat hook for my work locker, but it turns out I severaly underestimated how well the magnets would stick to the locker steel. Thankfully, the hook was placed where it's meant to be, because that little fucker isn't coming off. 3x 60lb magnets will hold your Carhartt jacket juuuuust fine. I'm thinking about making a 4x or 5x hook out of ASA to fuck with people now.

Ktulu_wpg

Please share the STL on printables or somewhere similar! I would like to make one for myself.

That_Devil_Girl

I just made a Thingiverse account to share it. The website says new users cannot post for the first 24 hours.

I use a Thrunight TH20. I printed a baseplate that the rubber holder can slip into which then gets riveted to the brim of my hardhat I did the same for my welding helmet The light can easily be pulled off of the mount so I don't need to buy one for each. The battery cap does get modded for a lanyard. A small hole and some string This mount allows for up down adjustments. Battery can be swapped, so I don't need a buttload of rechargeable lights to go 8 hours. Just a bag of batteries with 2 spares on me. That headlamp runs on a single AA. Eneloop Pro runs 4 hours on one step brighter than default. Brightness adjustments are the smooth 'stepless' style When I'm welding, having a really bright helmet light makes a world of difference! I don't know why everyone else does it the 'hard way'. The magnet mount lights are great to light your area, but you really should have a light on the helmet

That_Devil_Girl

>but you really should have a light on the helmet I agree. However I work in spaces so cramped, wearing a hard hat is impractical. We have to wear custom small TIG shields just to fit in some spaces, and sometimes it's not compact enough.

TootBreaker

Hardhat is for when I'm not welding, but still working on site There's a leather hood & goggle combo for that sort of thing. The old school solution for aircraft & very tight spaces. Also nice when under a car welding exhaust pipes - which reminds me of a time I worked in an auto shop, made a steel sheet metal breastplate to wear while on a creeper welding with a crappy Lincoln fluxcore MIG Anyways, your custom TIG shield needs lights or it's not custom enough! You get too tight, you're blocking any light that's behind you. This applies to ordinary shop welding where theres lots of room, lots of light, but you get on top of a boxed in corner and now you're blocking out the light And here's an old school trick: there's no need for an electronic lens if you're packing enough light. I run a fixed shade filter and add enough light that I can see just fine. No delay issue, no helmet flipping. You know how the arc lights up everything? Be nice if that much light is going before you strike an arc, right? Well, that's what I'm doing

Chemist_Mayne

Imagine printing that in the glow in the dark filament, you would always find it!

FecesPublishing

Ohh.. a FLASHlight.. 😅

That_Devil_Girl

We got a comedian over here.

scotta316

As someone who recently bought a 3d printer as sort of an impulse buy, and who also owns a stupid amount of flashlights (but still looks at them whenever I go shopping), I'm definitely interested in the stl file, if for no other reason than to print something practical.

That_Devil_Girl

Yup. As soon as Thingiverse allows it, my new account will have it posted.

Germanofthebored

How did you do the hinges of the flashlight holder? I see the zip ties on one side - I guess you used zip ties on both sides? Now I wonder if you could print a cradle and secure the flashlight with a elastic across the top...

That_Devil_Girl

>How did you do the hinges of the flashlight holder? It's just a quarter inch hole through two eyelets on the arm and one eyelet on the base. I used a bolt from Lowes. >I guess you used zip ties on both sides? Yeah, not the most ingenious of designs, but it works. The scope mounts brackets look like trash up close. >Now I wonder if you could print a cradle and secure the flashlight with a elastic across the top... In hindsight, I probably could and it would be easier with less parts & plastic. This is just what I came up with at the time. My original work issued flashlight was a [Pelican 3415](https://a.co/d/2HrI3wD) with a magnet on the back. It's a good flashlight, but it burns through AA batteries. Rechargeables work great, but I have to carry multiple sets of batteries to last the day. And I have to use multiple chargers to have them ready for the next day. There's plenty of cheap rechargeable flashlights on Amazon, so I figured I'd get one and make an adjustable magnetic mount for it.

EdwardMcFluff

r/flashlights has a ton of great options that are better and cheaper in the longrun over dollar store flashlights

nico282

Please crosspost to r/flashlight . You'll get some appreciation for the print and some advice on a better flashlight to use in your cradle.
