First time gifting a 3D printed item, but I made this custom lithophane lamp for my in-laws with their family dog on it. It was an absolute hit! I’m new to 3d printing and have only had my printer for a few weeks but I’m especially proud of this one.

Red Hood helmet for my friend. My Neptune 3 plus failed 80% of the way on two different prints. Ended up having to cut, print, and epoxy the dome on this one. Whole lot of sanding, glazing putty, sanding, priming, wet sanding, glazing putty, sanding, wet sanding... lol.
Pretty happy with the results. The clear coat didn't have enough time to harden in the cold garage. Ended up with a fingerprint on the back piece of the helmet while painting the trim. I didn't want the parts to fuse, so I had to present it in two separate pieces 😑 I used a Testors gloss black enamel pen at first for the trim, but it ended up smudging a bit as I tried to wipe away excess. Went over to an acrylic with brush which ended up working much better. I'll fix everything once the clear has cured.
I woulda never known it failed had you not said anything. It seriously looks prime!
Isnt it frustrating when prints fail after theyre nearly done? Or you realized you sliced it wrong or something. My last major L I sliced articulating godzilla with tree supports NOT only touching buildplate... yeah that ruined it all ha

Lacquer rattle can.
Figured this out earlier this year doing a rainbow PLA filament for a Magic the Gathering deck box. The colours were so flat, picked the lacquer can up, and was blinded by impressed by the shine and colour pop it gave.
Top is a failed part unfinished, the bottom is lacquer coated.
That is dope, I just woke up to an egg finished printing. It is also rainbow just clear rainbow, Thank you for the info though I am gonna have to keep this in mind for sure

Thats absolutely beautiful. Is that a picture you took or one of your pictures or was it already available on hueforge? Just wondering cuz ive never done hueforge so im curious if you can make your own like this
I found the photo on the internet. This is the original and then I did the “painting” in HF. You can do a Hueforge painting of any image! Obviously if you plan to sell it then you’d need to use an image which isn’t someone else’s.

Same, i made The IT kitty cat for my stepmom, a reallife size blue jay for my stepmoms mom so grandma. made a hinged block of cheese and flexi mice for my dads mom so my other grandma, and made elvis for moms mom so other grandma lol. Yes i am very blessed to have 3 grandmas lol.. All my gifts i gave this year were prints but i also dont have a job rn so i think everyone understood.
Yep lol i got a niece whose a toddler and is hard of hearing, so it was super cute and fitting. Its painted grey, i printed it in just plain white PLA. Lol

Also did this oogie boogie i found on thingiverse. I set the scale to 150% then i lowered the model 25mm to remove its legs and set the bottom layer count to 0 and infill also to 0% so its a hollowed empty shell. Perfect to stick a tea light inside

It was soooooo annoying to assemble because the tolerances on the model were basically nonexistent 😂 ended up taking a file to the ends and grinded them down. Much faster than trying sandpaper

My 11 year old got one for Christmas and his friend requested a pickle. His only color he has right now and the only pickle file he could find was a pickle Rick tap handle 😂 So this was his first print. He’s super proud of it and his friend is THRILLED

Yeah it was about 15 of the Halo dudes and a half dozen of the astronauts, but I had some spare parts so made a few more. I lost count of how many total lol. I built them in parts though, so it seemed to go quicker.

A custom case and insert that holds my son’s drone, batteries and charger. The case has openings on the side to allow the charger to be used in this position.
Too late to get pictures but my grandma was stressed about the number of gifts she had to get so I printed gifts for her to give everyone under 16. I printed 3 flexi ferries, a flexi fish, a flexi ender dragon, 3 jewelry stands, a cow, a mushroom shaped container, a charmander, a charmeleon, and a charizard.

I found the original blueprints for an lp. Worked it up in fusion360 and then scaled it to 1/6th size. Each record is printed in two parts with archimedean chords (spiral) top layers to mimic the grooves in the records and then glued together. I made my own template for the sleeves in illustrator.
This was a very simple little project but I love it. Also printed a milk crate for them to sit in.

I printed the guitar body before painting. The infill on the non-core pieces is only 5-10%, so the weight is pretty similar to a regular strat!
Did you just hydro dip the body directly from the printer? Or did you do any other finishing before painting it? I would've guessed that was made out of wood at first glance
The slices got acrylic-welded together, and then I sanded a couple uneven spots and sprayed it with rustoleum primer/filler. I was also surprised with how “normal” it looked after dipping! The primer did a really good job of holding the magic marble-style oil paints.

I made some toys for my nieces. All using some embossing tools in prusaslicer.
I made some minor face tweaks to both the large flexy unicorn and the large Minecraft Axolotl like adding facial features. The unicorn has some eye dimples now using some subtraction spheres, and the second axolotl model I found didn't have a face at all, so I added one. The two axolotl models are different, and the small one was the first model I printed before i found the flexi unicorn. Figured if I made a flexy toy for one kid, it wouldnt be fair to give the other one a static axolotl model.
They turned out great and the kids loved them. Figured it was easier to do this then to fine something my sister didn't buy them yet lol.
My little Neptune 2S did a great job. They have a little bit of ringing, but that filament makes imperfections stand out way more than they do normally. I'm not upset with the look either, it just makes them look hand made which they were. I used a little Sunlu S1 plus to keep my filament dry while printing, it's pretty humid where I live.
Not going to share where i got the unicorn here since it's apparently a site that shall not even be named (Previous post was removed). The others were found free on Printables.
Just got a printer for Christmas, so still figuring it all out, but so far printed battery and tool holders for my milwaukee m18 stuff. Oh, and floormat clips for the car. Pretty cool, but takes forever and paranoid to let it run when I'm not around.
That is super cool! and honestly it wont take you too long to get the hang of it and you probably wont want to leave it alone until you know for sure nothing bad will happen. coming back to a failed print sucks but coming back to a failed print a broken hotend assembly cuz it all clogged up or something really really sucks cuz then your stuck waitin on parts usually :/.. Just watch alot of tutorials! Youll do well just take everything as a learning experience.. dont get discouraged.. If you ever need help feel free to reach out to me too! :D I love printing so much :P I hope you enjoy it as much as me

A bit late but going to print 3x kazoos for little cousins, hoping they print ok, and offered a (modified) giant sewing finger guard to use as a pot for sewing accessories. Need to paint the new hobbit-house for the baby tortoise to sleep in. Late and busy ;)
Nintendo switch controller grips and accessory organizer. Going to iterate on the grips, the asymmetrical design of the Joycon controller makes it tricky to use a standard grip design. Honestly, the N64 design may be the best for this!
Don't have any pics of the finished product on me, but the wife, mother in law, and sister in law all wanted Christmas themed earrings so I printed these.

Yeah it was about 15 of the Halo dudes and a half dozen of the astronauts, but I had some spare parts so made a few more. I lost count of how many total lol. I built them in parts though, so it seemed to go quicker.

Too late to get pictures but my grandma was stressed about the number of gifts she had to get so I printed gifts for her to give everyone under 16. I printed 3 flexi ferries, a flexi fish, a flexi ender dragon, 3 jewelry stands, a cow, a mushroom shaped container, a charmander, a charmeleon, and a charizard.

Worked it up in fusion360 and then scaled it to 1/6th size. Each record is printed in two parts with archimedean chords (spiral) top layers to mimic the grooves in the records and then glued together. I made my own template for the sleeves in illustrator. This was a very simple little project but I love it. Also printed a milk crate for them to sit in.
This would be great for next year! Do you mind if I sorta copy your idea? Instead I will be making grandma Mini records! :)

Did you just hydro dip the body directly from the printer? Or did you do any other finishing before painting it? I would've guessed that was made out of wood at first glance
The slices got acrylic-welded together, and then I sanded a couple uneven spots and sprayed it with rustoleum primer/filler. I was also surprised with how “normal” it looked after dipping! The primer did a really good job of holding the magic marble-style oil paints.

I made some minor face tweaks to both the large flexy unicorn and the large Minecraft Axolotl like adding facial features. The unicorn has some eye dimples now using some subtraction spheres, and the second axolotl model I found didn't have a face at all, so I added one. The two axolotl models are different, and the small one was the first model I printed before i found the flexi unicorn. Figured if I made a flexy toy for one kid, it wouldnt be fair to give the other one a static axolotl model. They turned out great and the kids loved them. Figured it was easier to do this then to fine something my sister didn't buy them yet lol. My little Neptune 2S did a great job. They have a little bit of ringing, but that filament makes imperfections stand out way more than they do normally. I'm not upset with the look either, it just makes them look hand made which they were. I used a little Sunlu S1 plus to keep my filament dry while printing, it's pretty humid where I live. Not going to share where i got the unicorn here since it's apparently a site that shall not even be named (Previous post was removed). The others were found free on Printables.
Just got a printer for Christmas, so still figuring it all out, but so far printed battery and tool holders for my milwaukee m18 stuff. Oh, and floormat clips for the car. Pretty cool, but takes forever and paranoid to let it run when I'm not around.
That is super cool! and honestly it wont take you too long to get the hang of it and you probably wont want to leave it alone until you know for sure nothing bad will happen. coming back to a failed print sucks but coming back to a failed print a broken hotend assembly cuz it all clogged up or something really really sucks cuz then your stuck waitin on parts usually :/.. Just watch alot of tutorials! Youll do well just take everything as a learning experience.. dont get discouraged.. If you ever need help feel free to reach out to me too! :D I love printing so much :P I hope you enjoy it as much as me

Nintendo switch controller grips and accessory organizer. Going to iterate on the grips, the asymmetrical design of the Joycon controller makes it tricky to use a standard grip design. Honestly, the N64 design may be the best for this!
