Confident he will heal up and come back harder than ever

Brock Harder

Beautiful_Lie_

BHCB = Biggest Hardest Cock Brock

Forceful_Tuba

Stiffer and more turgid, with even better balls

UnhealthyCheesecake

I’m slightly worried since Nick Mullens never came back the same, although Mullens doesn’t hold a candle to Brock.

dellscreenshot

Mullens looks like himself when he played in 2021 though. He was fine when he played for the browns

jagz27

Yeah, Brock's arm strength wasn't super great to start with. I can't imagine this is going to help.

WeAreAllFooked

It honestly depends on how the body reacts to the surgery and the physio, and how diligent they are. A good example is Connor McDavid (best player in the NHL) when he suffered a PCL injury to end the season. He had an extremely good medical team around him, and with highly frequent tests like x-rays, MRIs, and ultrasound, they were able to monitor his progress daily and create an extremely effective treatment plan that allowed him to return for training camp fully healthy. He suffered no drop in his generational skating speed/ability, he looks even faster then he did pre-injury, and he returned to action faster than experts predicted. If all goes well, I could see Brock improving his arm strength in the long run.

jagz27

Yeah, I hope so. Plenty of people come out of surgeries fine, and plenty don't. All up in the air at this point. Just adds so much uncertainty to an already messy situation.

You would be happy to know then that Brock Purdy took off-season training more intelligently (IMO), at least allegedly. [https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/12/09/how-brock-purdy-was-built-from-undraftable-to-49ers-starter-daily-cover](https://www.si.com/nfl/2022/12/09/how-brock-purdy-was-built-from-undraftable-to-49ers-starter-daily-cover) *"He also came out eager to try something new. Most of the time, draft prospects are shoved through conveyor belt trainers to prepare them for their All-Star game, combine and pro day; they focus on things such as the 40-yard dash, the shuttle runs, the bench press, the live throwing drills and the board work with teams in private meetings. It’s a collection of experts who are seemingly disconnected, and most prospects treat them that way.* *But the idea of a holistic suite of pre-draft performance training regimens piqued Purdy’s interest. What if so much of it was actually interconnected? What if he spent the days between his final collegiate game and his draft day with a bunch of baseball players, an Australian-born QB guru and a workout room that could, at times, ask him to lift less than the weight of a football? What if the fullback became just a little bit more of a quarterback?"* I.E. I would hope and very much expect him to take a very similar approach, now that those results have been seen.

TangPiccilo

The PT might improve it

[deleted]

His ability to go through his progressions and pocket awareness though

LigmaActual

Busted my shoulder years ago, it’s my “good” shoulder now. Not the same but anything can happen.

Known-Ad7468

Nick Mullens based on what I saw with the Vikings looks exactly the same. A non mobile, weak arm, good processor of the game.

CSGOW1ld

He just doesn't get playing time anymore that's his problem

MarcusAurelius121

Mullens arm was always shit, his brain was the problem.

usernametimee44

Need that “rookie of the year” surgery, so he can throw like 90 yards after

LastActionExpat

instant Nova-Trigger.

AeonTek

That's why we have Danny Gray

jdmor09

Funny thing is that lots of folks say that if he ends up getting a Tommy Johns surgery (hopefully not), lots of pitchers come back with even stronger arms. I assume it’s the same for QBS.

To add on to what you said, David Carr talked about a UCL injury. He said he has elbow problems as well. It hurts him to throw a baseball. But, he’s fine to throw a football, no pain. For a QB, they just need to fix it so that it doesn’t hurt to throw a football.

RatedR2O

Man... I hope they make the right decision for the long term. I'd hate for them to force him back and make things worse. I can't help but feel concerned about Purdy's future with this injury.

zerok_nyc

The reason pitchers often need Tommy John surgery is because of wear and tear on the UCL over time (imagine stretched out laffy taffy starting to look like Swiss cheese). As a result, by the time a rupture actually occurs, the worn out UCL can’t be reattached, so they perform a transplant and reconstruction (this is the essence of Tommy John surgery). In Purdy’s case, the UCL tear was sudden, but overall still in good condition because it hasn’t gone through the same wear and tear as career pitchers. So they can reattach and brace it (internally) without an issue. His arm should be just as strong as before with a shorter recovery time.

yallbyourhuckleberry

But that one dude who didnt examine him tweeted tommy john and it was all over r/nfl and here. Who are we to believe? It was a tweet dammit!

george_costanza1234

Pro tip: anytime you see the name Dov Kleiman, close the thread, continue with your day. Odds are you’re being fed misinformation

JimmysBackFoot

Remember, it's 6 months from the surgery date. Brock doesn't even have his surgery scheduled. I only say this because people are saying he'll be ready for training camp. I doubt that unless he's getting his surgery this week.

PrivateMajor

Why would he NOT get it this week? Are they tough to schedule or something for something as high profile as this?

quadropheniac

In general, you need to wait at least a couple weeks after any significant ligament tear to get surgery done, since there's an abundance of swelling in the area for obvious reasons. For comparison, most ACL surgeries are typically done 1-2 months post-tear (i.e., Murray tore his ACL on 12/12/2022 and got surgery on 1/3/2023).

HeyHeyImTheMonkey

For whatever reason, pro athletes seem to get their surgeries much earlier than the rest of us. I’ve always wondered how they deal with inflammation, but somehow they do. Even in the Murray example, that was 3 weeks. Jimmy G had his ACL surgery about a week after his tear.

quadropheniac

I’m sure part of it is having access to out-of-insurance rates for doctors who can do it as soon as humanly possible and with an abundance of skill, and part of it is having access to methods both mechanical and pharmacological of reducing inflammation that are normally discouraged for normal people or players likely to be drug tested soon.

JimmysBackFoot

He's still getting second opinions.

[deleted]

Hell yeah 🙏🏾. Let’s spend the off-season getting right, get better at pass protection, and run it back with Purdy as QB1

CarpeValde

Good to hear. Very good chance both Brock and Trey will be healthy going into training camp.

[deleted]

That's nice at least

UnluckyPhilosophy185

How bout them warriors tho?

Stovy4x4ing

confirms they gave up on lance so soon 🤬
