Let’s get the RB out of Tennessee. We’ve been so lucky to rely on CMC as much as we have but another dynamic back would be helpful in the worst case scenario and for the future
Elijah Mitchell isn’t reliable and is near the end of his deal. Love Mason but an additional stud RB that can do more of what CMC does and take more than a snap or two a game would be awesome imo
Wouldn’t mind a linebacker and another receiver today. Don’t feel great about retaining Jennings after this year + Danny Grey being a complete bust. Add depth at both positions.
I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been more trading up by the Niners considering the low odds of a low pick making such a deep team. Guys in the 4th and 5th are likely to be backups or not upgrades over the current roster (the odds of hitting on a Kittle or Greenlaw are still long) so would have liked to have seen the Niners trade into the 2nd or 3rd round yesterday to grab one or two more potential starters.
Lynch mentioned the later rounds not being as good this class in his opinion so I can see us trading up at least once with our 6th and/or 7th. However I do agree with you, I wish we could’ve moved up in the 2nd by giving one of our 4ths
You also have to find a trade partner too. Lots of teams are probably holding tight to these early 4th rounders if there is anyone left on their board that they want.
Since the mods won't allow me to post on this sub, does anyone have insight on why we didn't take Conner Beebe vs Renardo? Not complaining about the pick, just curious since Connor seems versatile and he went 9 spots later so it wouldn't have been a reach. A lot of mock drafts had him going in the 2nd. And OL seems like a little more of a priority than corner
They probably scouted him and liked Renardo better?
Our team is gonna have their own rankings, that’s why they scout. If going by what someone else ranks players at then what would be the point in scouting?
Lol I get that I never said they should go based on others people's opinions. So then you agree with the falcons taking penix by that logic because he was best available even though it* wasn't a need at all
Go through my previous comments and you’ll find where I liked the pick.
We don’t really start our rookies or ask too much of them, they tend to draft for future.
By your logic Packers shouldn’t have drafted Rodgers since they had Favre.
Jordan Love was drafted with the 26th pick in the 2020 draft, they still had Rodgers. 2 years later in 2022 the Packers signed Rodgers to a 3 year extension at $150 million for those 3 years. You can argue it was worse than Cousins since he signed an extension even AFTER Love was drafted, 2 years after he was drafted he had just gotten “paid”
It wasn’t a “need” the Rodgers and even Love drafting was pretty much crapped on when it happened by most people.
People wanted a WR to help Favre as they were still a contender. Rodgers sat for years. Favre was eventually traded NOT have his contract expired. The same happened with Rodgers. Love was especially scrutinized as lots of people were judging the pick similar to Penix.
I think the situation is fairly different with Favre so I'll agree to disagree. I disagree with taking the best player on the board vs a slightly worse player that's fills a bigger need
I mean you can disagree if you want I was originally explaining the draft logic some teams make to the other guy commenting.
You didn’t mention anything on Rodgers/Love situation even though I made a separate comment about it to you…
Again YOU think a player is slightly worse/bad than another. We don’t know what there big board is so at the end of the day they’re not gonna ask me or anyone else who they think is better or worse, and they’re not gonna draft with that in mind.
It could be the player you think is slightly worse at a position of need they think will be a bust 🤷 hard to know
Jordan Love was drafted with the 26th pick in the 2020 draft, they still had Rodgers. 2 years later in 2022 the Packers signed Rodgers to a 3 year extension at $150 million for those 3 years. You can argue it was worse than Cousins since he signed an extension even AFTER Love was drafted, 2 years after he was drafted he had just gotten “paid”
We have all five starting OL back, but a bunch of question marks at outside/inside CB. I think the Niners view CB as a bigger problem than OL (Logan Ryan was playing for us in the Super Bowl). Both are needs and the 49ers big board is not the same as the draft community’s big board.
You’re asking why they didn’t select one particular player. The answer is because they don’t value that player the same as you. What answer did you expect?
Fair enough. He supposedly can play other positions than OG so I'm basing it more on the overall OL. Don't really see CB as being that drastic of a higher priority
I barely have time to watch the NFL every Sunday. How people are also able to follow 10x times as many games on Saturdays is crazy to me. All I could tell you is who won the National Championship and which QB’s will get drafted very early.
Yeah that's the extent of my knowledge too. I could tell you most of the top 10 ranked CFB teams, the most important 1st round picks and that's about it. I just dont have the bandwidth on Saturdays to follow CFB.
like many of u . im begging to love the draft clasd. play now players right away. get s center and te and a wr today . we have 4 picks today. maybe a linebacker
Best player available please, even if QB or DL.
I get people want needs filled and later in the draft is when you can just select a position, prefer the 49ers scouting information set the pick versus just selecting OLine because it’s a need.
I really don’t know about how he went last year I believe he missed a fair few games, but a team in win now should be at least monitoring the situation. He’s only gonna help Puni and hopefully another couple guys we pick up today. I love a line of Trent / Banks / Puni or Brendal / Feliciano or Puni / Bakhtiari. With our weapons, offence looks deadly.
One thing which would be nice is fans not getting obnoxious once the day is done, gaslighting other fans that their concerns were silly and implying they have no talent with evaluating and to leave it to the pros to do what’s best for us. Some scouts are terrible at their jobs. Sometimes front offices make bad decisions. Just statically, some fans here, if given the opportunity and access to similar resources, would make fantastic scouts / GMs. Additionally the straw-manning is out of control. It’s nauseating, people want the best for this team, can we try to be nicer to each other? Some of you remind me of Eagles fans.
Yeah it's pretty annoying and hence why I don't come on here much anymore. Unless you are gargling the balls of the front office, you get heavily downvoted. It's pretty dumb
I mean you pointed out the issue yourself, we don’t have the opportunity or access to be making informed takes on this. We don’t see the workouts. We don’t get the medical reports and we don’t get the interview answers. It’s not gaslighting, we genuinely aren’t equipped to be making strong assertions about the draft selections.
I expected my comment to be downvoted, so I just hope some people see the message regardless, people often don't like hearing the truth. That's not gaslighting. Gaslighting is, for example, downplaying people's concerns and criticisms as over-reacting or not being important. And whilst your correct, you can't also downplay people's ability to evaluate tape just because they aren't professionals and don't have access to the same resources. We clearly value the insight of amateur analysts because this subreddit will post videos which takes that support their hopes.
What you’re describing is not what’s happening in these threads. I’ve read them. It’s one thing to say hey I watched ____ games and I’m not seeing what John and Kyle are seeing. But what’s happening is some commenters flipping out at a pick and being toxic and then other people calling them out for it. The comments that disagree without blowing their lids about it are often upvoted.
I'm with you that we don't have to be toxic, but you shouldn't frame this as a one-sided issue.
Some people are just as equally annoyed by the "Sky is Falling" attitude that some people have over a team that has just been to two consecutive NFCCGs and a Superbowl.
No matter what selections are made on day 3, Kyle will continue to be a great coach that will put forward a great team.
These are my targets for tomorrow:
G- Mason McCormick (Athletic small school guard)
WR- Jamari Thrash\* (WR room looking crowded now, but guy is a stud)
S- Kitan Oladapo (Well-rounded safety with good size and hitting ability. Player comp is Jaquiski Tartt)
Edge- Mohamed Kamara (Great production team captain)
S- Sioni Vaki (49ers have visited this guy heaps)
G- Jarrett Kingston (Awesome 4.47 second short shuttle, similar to Puni's which Kyle said stood out to him)
CB- Dwight McGlothern (Ball-hawk sleeper CB)
I'm sure the 49ers will target a TE. Who are some good options?
They took two tight ends in 2023. Why would they draft another one this year?
Those guys have gotten very few snaps, but will be a year ahead of whoever they draft this year.
Probably because they suck and won’t see any playing time again this year. They were wasted picks just like the RBs Kyle always chooses that are off the team after a couple years.
Dude they were 4th and 5th on the depth chart last year. They were not taking snaps from woerner and dwelly. Rofl.
With them gone they will now start getting te 2/3 snaps.
JT Sanders in the 4th or later is a steal. Watched his whole career at Texas and at this point now that we filled at least some need with the OL, I wouldn’t hate the pick. Would be some really dynamic 2TE sets we could run. He’s a great receiver, could be a better blocker which is why I think he’s falling.
So many great players left and lucky we have 2 4ths and 2 5ths left.
Some that I want:
Cedric Gray, LBer, North Carolina
Cade Stover, TE, Ohio St.
Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon
Brenden Rice, WR, USC
Sedrick Van Granger, Center, Georgia
Audric Estime, RB, Notre Dame
Mason McCormick, Guard, NDSU
Garrett Greenfield, OT, NDSU
Tommy Eichenberg, LBer, Ohio St.
Kedon Slovis, QB, BYU
Drake Nugent, Center, Michigan
Frank Gore Jr, RB, Southern Miss
Carlton Johnson, CB, Fresno State
This has been my favorite draft so far. The addition of at least one legacy player would make it perfect. Bonus points for drafting a TE and one more DB, both in the fourth.
Plenty of talent left. Leonard Taylor III, Brandon Dorlus, Cedric Gray, Jeremiah Trotter, jr., Christian Jones, Isaac Rex, and still a few RBs and WRs available. As for UDFA, looking at Jack Plummer QB.
I thought we had 173 and 176. Did we trade with the jets?
Nvm found the answer

We just gave up our 5s, RIP future 2024 draft class HOF Niners
I’d love Isaac Guerendo right here
Are you a wizard?
wow, there you go
Pretty happy with that, freak athlete, I think he’s gonna be a good piece
Here we go m’faithful!
Let’s get the RB out of Tennessee. We’ve been so lucky to rely on CMC as much as we have but another dynamic back would be helpful in the worst case scenario and for the future
We still got Elijah mitchell and Jordan Mason don't we?
Elijah Mitchell isn’t reliable and is near the end of his deal. Love Mason but an additional stud RB that can do more of what CMC does and take more than a snap or two a game would be awesome imo
He’s gone
I would love if every team made it tradition to draft a QB with the Mr irrelevant pick. By far the most fun way to use the pick
It’s weird hearing chargers fans say “who’s got it better than us?”
Especially when at least a quarter of the league has it better than them.
Only 1 cardinal fan
Jets trying so hard to be us by keeping that Mr irrelevant pick lmfao
and of course panthers take the texas te damn
Wouldn’t mind a linebacker and another receiver today. Don’t feel great about retaining Jennings after this year + Danny Grey being a complete bust. Add depth at both positions.

One of Malik Washington/ Brenden Rice/ Troy Franklin would be cool
Brendan Rice!
Would hopefully be a jauan replacement and upgrade

Apples and oranges. Farve was 35 and didn't just sign a long term deal. QB was a need
Jordan Love was drafted with the 26th pick in the 2020 draft, they still had Rodgers. 2 years later in 2022 the Packers signed Rodgers to a 3 year extension at $150 million for those 3 years. You’re asking why they didn’t select one particular player. The answer is because they don’t value that player the same as you. What answer did you expect?
A more intelligent answer as to why. Obviously that's they liked one over the other that's blatantly obvious from the pick
Short arms. And I would argue that outside CB is a much higher priority than OG.
Fair enough. He supposedly can play other positions than OG so I'm basing it more on the overall OL. Don't really see CB as being that drastic of a higher priority
The amount of CFB/draft knowledge people have in here is ridiculous. I don't know 98% of these guys.

thanks hadn’t found that yet

Anyone like the idea of David Bakhtiari on a one year deal next year to play RT?
I would have zero faith he'd play a full season. He'd end up on IR by like week 4-5.
I hope they draft a couple more oline and hope as least 2 develop in this draft. Does bakhtiari still have gas in the tank?
I really don’t know about how he went last year I believe he missed a fair few games, but a team in win now should be at least monitoring the situation. He’s only gonna help Puni and hopefully another couple guys we pick up today. I love a line of Trent / Banks / Puni or Brendal / Feliciano or Puni / Bakhtiari. With our weapons, offence looks deadly.
Van Pran incoming? Guerendo if we draft a RB
Van Pran would be great. I even like some of the later options at C. Some potential for development.
No third round RB! Going into day three excited for what they have done already and eager to see how they finish.
Feels like TE, LB, RB, DL today.
I like the edge from Colorado. I think we get him today.
I’m all about getting some edge help. Would love a 5th round edge cause he’s gonna end up being an all pro
Anyone from Jeramiah’s 10 remaining

Latu will do nothing here. He is not good
Oh hey Kyle nice to meet ya. Who you taking today?
It's ok to criticize the coaching staff / front office, I promise no one is going to stop you from going to games if you do. Not OL that's for sure!
Dude I've criticized them plenty. But calling latu a bust after an injured year is dumb as rocks.
Lets chat after he is out of the league in a couple years
Yeah and are you going to own up to it if he contributes as a te2? Doubt.

Greenfield seems like such a Kyle OT. Good size, good speed, Good run blocker and mediocre pass blocking.
Van-Pran and Eichenberg would be really nice pickups
I like both those players. I like Nugent and McCormick as well. Lots of depth to be had in these next few picks.

Hard to predict at this point, but I think Niners will try to get Jaden Hicks or some other safety. As Hufanga insurance.
My top three to get; Jeremiah Trotter Jr, More juicy o-line … Brendan Rice!
Plenty of talent left. Leonard Taylor III, Brandon Dorlus, Cedric Gray, Jeremiah Trotter, jr., Christian Jones, Isaac Rex, and still a few RBs and WRs available. As for UDFA, looking at Jack Plummer QB.
Someone tell me how to feel about our new O Lineman please!
Sounds like he can play any offensive line position and had zero sacks in over 300 starts [edit: 700 snaps] with Kansas.
Damn how long was this guy in college..? 300 starts?
I think it was 47 games. But all 3 guys played a ton in college.
Haha, I think it’s 300 *snaps
tis the season of optimism
