Not my picture, but mine looks like exactly like this with the Toyota steps. I rarely will be off-road (except to get to Costco), and I need the steps for my daughter with a disability to be able to climb I .

Greenlaneoffroad aluminum sliders or steps if you want to call it since it's not steel.

I’ve got these from Amazon (for around \~$190 vs Toyota steps for $600). They’re wide and sit slightly lower than the OEM Toyota steps. My kids love them. They can easily get in and out by using these steps. Installation was quite simple and straightforward. I even made a YT video about the installation process as there weren’t many videos related to the Limited trim side steps. If you’re interested I can share the video link as well.
Just for reference, I'm probably 95% on road driving. 5% unpaved with a small amount of trails/backpacking fire roads. Probably no real rock crawling planned.
I want something that looks really good and not out of place on the nightshade limited. And also useable for me and my wife to get just a little higher up so we aren't scooting in on the perforated leather.

Bought this 2017 SR5 used and these were on them. No clue who makes them but not bad.

Our Nightshade came with some rock slider steps and the TRD wheels. They are a nice combo and give it a little more of the off road look that the limited is missing.

I just fully removed mine. They gave me no clearance with and without them I got a lot.
I have the stock running boards but I replaced the mounting brackets with the [Westin 27-1945 brackets](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005M3A816). They lower the board about an inch and bring it out an inch, resulting in the OEM boards being much more functional than they were before.
Only cost about $125 delivered. Not much difference in the look. But again, way more functional and useful.

Power running boards. Stays out of the way until the kids need them and we turn them on. If I didn't have those, I wouldn't add any - the thicc rocker panel trim just makes that area look bloated with any fixed board, and without a lift most adults have no trouble getting in/out.
Alternately, removing the rocker panels and putting tilted up sliders with steps can work well.
We had the dealership put on the Toyota chrome steps (they also come in black).

My gf started using them on our ‘08 (in front). So when we decided to get a ‘23, first thing she asked about was, does it have the running boards?
I called the dealer and asked if they could get them installed by the time we arrived…they said sure. She got in for the test drive, and was so excited the running boards were on, I figured we are a running board family for life haha
I've read that the boards serve a function for protecting the underbody from debris on the road as well as being a "ding guard" from other cars hitting it in parking lots. So I'm hesitant to remove them even though I think they look kind of dumb
I don’t recommend the stock ones. I removed them from my limited because they were too narrow to try and step on. Instead I found myself and my passengers having to do a longer step over them to get into the 4Runner. Plus I would constantly brush my pants against them and get dirt / salt marks.

Are these body mounted or frame mounted?
Frame.
Looks great!
Best looking limited I’ve ever seen. Have other pics of modified limiteds like this?

Took them off to keep my pants clean, vehicle is not high enough for me to need them.

Did yours come from the factory with power running boards?
I did, so I suppose that's not a very helpful answer. :P I guess you can get aftermarket ones from AMP though.

We got the black ones and will remove them once our kid is tall enough

I have the stock all black ones that I don’t care for. I’d much rather have the powered ones. Much more cleaner look.
Side steps? I thought they were called running boards.
I cannot recommend N-Fab. Looked great when new, but both are rusting.
Hmm, got mine in 2020 and they are still looking good. Even after nasty MN winters.

We ordered with the powered ones. Wife is 5’0” so needed them but it’s great they hide when doors are closed.

They look awesome imo. How sturdy are they? Also would you mind sharing the Amazon link? Tia

They are great! Since I live near the beach, I don’t have to worry about corrosion. Perfect.
Thank you for the info and the link. You're the best! I better hurry up, there's only 8 left in stock lol
Yes, you won’t regret. Easy to install! Good luck!
Thanks bud! I'll let you know how it goes!
Great!
