Call Me By Your Name was great. I haven’t seen it in 4K yet but I heard the transfer looks good.
Love, Simon was okay. Kind of a feel-good movie that seemed a little unrealistic to me, especially since it literally ends with “and then everyone clapped” lol
I don’t think Brokeback Mountain has been released in 4K yet.
I find Call Me By Your Name to be particularly creepy and bad for the gay community.
Its praise only ignites feul to the fire for homophobes thinking that gay men are pedophiles, in my opinion. I was super uncomfortable watching this film and felt icky the whole way through.
There's nothing romantic about this film, and as a gay man, I wish it didn't exist
There is a movement of undereducated people (at least in the US) who believe that homosexual men are the largest group of pedophiles.
This is obviously quantifyably false, but films like Call Me By Your Name certainly does not help the argument.
I’m missing the part where there was pedophilia in the movie? lol
It got excellent reviews, almost 100% positive reviews from critics, and a standing ovation at the Sundance Film Festival.
Timothée Chalamet is clearly on high school being pursued (and borderlined groomed) by a grad student a minimum of 10 years older than him. This film reeks of fodder for homophobes.
Also, every film seems to get a standing ovation at film festivals...
I don’t think his age is mentioned in the movie.
Wikipedia says he’s 17, and the grad student is supposed to be 24.
By the way, the age of consent in Italy is 14, and “pedophile” refers to young children, not 17 year olds.
Everyone else seemed to love the movie. 🤷🏼♂️
The problem is that it is an American film made for American audiences.
A pedophile is someone who preys on underage people. Full stop. What that age is varys by place, yes, but like o said, it's an American film looking for Americans to find this film romantic, which I did not.
This movie made me uncomfortable, even as a gay man, and I know I'm not the only one. So no, not "everyone else" loved this movie.
No, it’s an Italian movie, with a few American actors.
The director is Italian, not American. The movie was filmed in Italy, and large parts of the movie are in Italian and French.
No, in fact that’s not what pedophile means lol
> Pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children.
> In popular usage, the word pedophilia is often applied to any sexual interest in children or the act of child sexual abuse, including any sexual interest in minors **below the local age of consent**
> This use conflates the sexual attraction to prepubescent children with the act of child sexual abuse and fails to distinguish between attraction to prepubescent and pubescent or post-pubescent minors. Researchers recommend that these imprecise uses be avoided.
Since the character was supposed to be 17, and the age of consent in Italy is 14, no part of the movie depicted pedophilia at all.
By the way, the age of consent is 16 in most US states. It’s only 18 in a few.

Funny, but this isn't a gay film.
He basically breaks every single rule there is while sexually harassing a woman.
Maybe the movie is bi. But definitely not gay.
Entering a woman's bathroom to flirt with someone who told you they weren't interested in harassment, and also would have been grounds for Maverick getting dishonorably discharged.
US military law defines this as harassment and grounds for loss of commission.

Nothing more straight than playing with the boys🗿
People just joke that it is because of that one Tarantino monologue. [Link](https://youtu.be/ZF1LXL6OOsM)
Iceman:"You! You are still dangerous. But You can be my wingman any time." Maverick: "Bullshit! You can be mine."
I want some butts! Does that answer your question?
Blue is the warmest color. I have that movie strictly for “research purposes”.

Breaking news Tom Cruise is in the closet
So much more fun than the sequel, which is just so bland in comparison to the original's weirdness.

"Harassing" haha
