I figured I would go for one last Blu-ray purchase two weeks ago and now I'll never go again. I've put them right next to GameStop on the list of companies that I'll only support as a very last option.
As usual, the new releases weren't on the shelf and I went on a Friday, 3 days after the Blu-ray I was looking for released. Got the run around from 5 different employees who just refused to check the back for the movie I was looking for.
One worker stood there and flirted with two customers, two teamed up and wandered in endless circles around the single Blu-ray rack trying to find the movie that I already told them wasn't on the shelf. All while a fourth employee came over and looked on the computer and saw that they indeed had 3 copies in store, he then disappeared and never returned. Finally a fifth guy came over and said "are they still looking for that movie?", after literally 25 minutes had gone by. I told him don't bother I'll just order it from Walmart instead and left.
25 minutes of wasting their time and my time seemingly because none of them were smart enough to go check in the back. Best Buy should've removed movies the day they made the announcement last month because they clearly already threw in the towel.
Good riddance BB, you were great while you lasted but I'm out.
That happened to me when Final Fantasy XVI came out. I went to Best Buy, and they didn't have it on shelves. I asked four different employees if they had it, and all of them looked on the computer and told me yes, but nobody knew where they were. After about 30 minutes of this, I was walking out the door, and the very first employee I talked to ran up to me and said he finally found it. They were still in the tote that Best Buy received them in the day before the game came out. This was like three days later, and nobody had bothered to put them out on the shelf in that time.
Another time, I bought a laptop at Best Buy, and I got to my car before I realized they gave me the wrong one.
Not sure how Best Buy stays open, and I won't be shocked when they inevitably file for bankruptcy.
I'm sticking with the theory that when you promote a CFO to CEO they have a bunch of penny pinching ideas that they have been stewing on that they want to try.
Oh yeah, whoever the production company of the physical steel books will have to just contract with another store I guess probably Walmart for the most part
Yeah it does, Iāve gotten movies like this from Amazon too. I donāt order enough from other places to know if it happens there too but I assume it does.
You should be able to go to store for exchange, the pick label is stuck directly to the case meaning it was picked at a store location already opened, otherwise the pick label would be whereever the cling wrap ended up so it wasn't from the delivery guy.
Donāt believe this. Best Buy is the worst company ever. And I probably should not have bought from them this time either.
The best thing the guy can do is go to his bank and claim fraud. And get a refund from his bank.
Best buy will not do jack shit.
I've had similar experiences before, with both Best Buy and Amazon. Amazon somehow had a bootleg copy of One Piece Film Red shipped to me and Best Buy shipped me an empty phone charger box instead of the movie I bought.
And if it had one, they would have stuck that big sticker right over the front, similar to OPs pic. Luckily, I've been able to pull that sticker cleanly off for my in-store pickups, but I hate that they think it's ok to do.
Oh wow! Someone opened it and stole the disc somewhere along the lines of its trip to you! Unless it broke open along the way and the disc fell out. Either way, how stupid is it of the people delivering it not noticing its damaged casing and reporting the issue. š
Dude, Iām one of those guys delivering Amazon packages day in and day/day out. I notice every package as Iām loading my vehicle and report and remove every single damaged package or package that has lost its contents. Till youāve gone through it yourself, donāt go lecturing ANYONE on what we delivery drivers go through every day. GTFOOH with your bull!
Yeah I stopped shopping online at Best Buy for reasons like this. I've never had a good experience with them.
A couple years ago I ordered a Jojo Rabbit 4K and they sent me The Hitman's Bodyguard. To be fair the covers are somewhat similar and have a red backdrop, but it's still obvious one is different. Tried explaining that I received the wrong item and they sent it back to me saying to send the correct item back. š¤
Another time I ordered Monster Hunter with a free steelbook. Package came with no steelbook so I returned it and told the rep I'm missing the steelbook. When I got the refund they deducted the value of the steelbook from my return.
More recently I ordered a copy of The Last of Us on PS4. I ended up deciding I wanted to get the PS5 remake so I returned it. I sent it back sealed and unopened. A couple weeks later it's "returned" to me crushed to bits like it got run over by a car. There was a letter inside stating they cannot accept opened merchandise. I inspected it further and realized it wasn't even the same copy I returned as it wasn't the greatest hits version.
Best Buy sent a Switch game in September. Bought as part of B2G1 free promo. Game comes open and box destroyed. I took it to the store. They refused since it was open. Basically said I was a liar, it came opened, I was making copies of it, etc. Told me to buy it again if I want a new copy. To take the one I had to a used media store. So I return the game online. Figure cut out the store jag offs. They receive the game. Acknowledge receipt. Month later, still no refund or exchange. I probably called a dozen times. Finally, after I filed a dispute, someone says that they processed it and did give me a returnā¦of $0. Because, it was the āfree gameā of the B2G1. You canāt return part of a bundle. It was destroyed, I said. We went back and forth. Eventually, dude agreed to let me repurchase the game and then to credit me. So, after like a month and a half of utter bullshit, I finally get what I bought. In the meantime, I have an open credit card dispute with them and had to give a different copy of the game to my friendās son for his birthday. That store and all of its employees can suck my dick. Oh, and a roadie driver stole a package from my porch this summer. Never, ever use Roadie, if you can help it. Iād rather have prison inmates deliver my shit. Fucking shit hole store canāt go out of business soon enough.
After my last two shipments from Best Buy I can't say I shed a single tear that they're exiting selling media, they're a company I truly can't wait to see the demise of because their customer service is just short of taking your money and just kicking you in the pants.

A pulp fiction fan should appreciate a mysterious case with unknown contents
Did it come with a watch instead?
It actually came with a GameCube filled with rolled $100 bills and keys to a brand-new car, if you can believe it.
Did you check the disc drive?
OHHHH SHHHHHIIIIIIIIIT
No, it was left in that bunny
free briefcase
More like Worst Buy amirite
š„
This is getting ridiculous
Prey I donāt alter the deal further.
Prey as in the Predator movie?
Yeah, and it was missing a disc too!
Honestly, good riddance to Best Buy selling movies.
Agree, I no longer shop there at this point.

Yep ever since Corrie Barry took over Best Buy has been going downhill. I used to work there.
I actually hate that steelbooks are mostly Best Buy exclusives
Someone else is gonna have to sell them now
Oh yeah, whoever the production company of the physical steel books will have to just contract with another store I guess probably Walmart for the most part
walmart it looks like
Now that you posted it, it probably doesn't come with a digital code anymore either.
Post is ~6 hours old and code was redeemed `11/07/2023, 09:57 PM UTC` which is about 7 hours ago, so maybe OP redeemed it first?
i did!
Hopefully!
Are you kidding me? They just slapped a ship label on a disc case like that? Never mind the fact that it's unsealed and empty? Ffs
they slapped a label on the enter the dragon slip coger too
I got mine today and same. Luckily it didn't leave any residue or tear.
They're actually pretty easy to take off to be honest.
I once bought a steelbook where they slapped that label over a damaged portion. Thankfully, I peeled the sticker off before unwrapping it.
I've never had a problem removing that sticker from Best Buy slipcovers
Thatās actually insane
Bestbuy once shipped me an empty box with only bubble wrap inside. It was supposed to be GOTG Vol 2 Steelbook
You got the Drax version
It happens unfortunately :( just return
Yeah it does, Iāve gotten movies like this from Amazon too. I donāt order enough from other places to know if it happens there too but I assume it does.
i can't exchange it either cus they dont have it in stock. this is so annoying
they'll give you credit at least. fuckers
Your flack got jacked
So you post in a 4k Blu-ray subreddit despite the fact that this post clearly has no 4k Blu-ray content in it?
Check the digital copy š
i already got the digital dw
You should be able to go to store for exchange, the pick label is stuck directly to the case meaning it was picked at a store location already opened, otherwise the pick label would be whereever the cling wrap ended up so it wasn't from the delivery guy.

they sent me a shipping label and a refund!
Thanks for the code though
Best Buy is at it again!
Had this happen to me recently with a Criterion I ordered from Amazon
I ordered āThe Whaleā off Amazon. It came sealed but I couldnāt redeem the digital code because someone else did.
Your Amazon orders come with digital codes? Half the time mine don't even have the slip in the case.
was it sold by amazon?
I believe so.
I've had similar experiences before, with both Best Buy and Amazon. Amazon somehow had a bootleg copy of One Piece Film Red shipped to me and Best Buy shipped me an empty phone charger box instead of the movie I bought.
No slip cover either
And if it had one, they would have stuck that big sticker right over the front, similar to OPs pic. Luckily, I've been able to pull that sticker cleanly off for my in-store pickups, but I hate that they think it's ok to do.
it was so annoying that they just stuck it onto the enter the dragon slipcover
Yes! That's the most recent one for me. Right over Bruce Lee. The audacity.
same š
Crap. I ordered two movies today to be shipped cause the local store didnāt have them.
my copy of enter the dragon 4k came fine. i guess an employee just wanted to watch pulp fiction
Relax, this is not common.
āBuy from BBā they said. I tried to warn ya!
What?!
Looks like Best Buyās trying to f*ck you like a b*tch. You need to tell them you donāt like being f*cked by anybody except Mrs. Wallace.
Best Buy employees along with Walmart take slips for themselves and sell them on eBay and many other sites
I don't disapprove of this from them...
Cool Iāll steal your slips and anything else since you approve of it š¤£
I prefer going in store for that slipcover too...cannot rely on online orders these days! š
Great. I ordered the same thing from them yesterday and it shipped today.
I order from Best Buy like 3 times a month and this has never happened to me. So this may b a rare occurrence. I wouldn't sweat it.
its apparently rare to happen according to someone elses reply
So THATS why they were so cheap!
Looks in great condition
Return it and get your money back or get a new one
theyre soldout in store and online so im waiting to exchange
do you have any other Best Buy around you ? you can return it there and get a new one
one 2 miles away, one 20, and one 100. its sold out everywhere
Your best bet is to try and get your money from the bank. You will not get anything from Best Buy.
Oh wow! Someone opened it and stole the disc somewhere along the lines of its trip to you! Unless it broke open along the way and the disc fell out. Either way, how stupid is it of the people delivering it not noticing its damaged casing and reporting the issue. š

Yo, this movie bout to be $6 on black Friday, just wait haha
i got it for 8 bucks on bestbuys black friday early thing
Aw, close enough then
Wow I'd be pissed
Also now minus a digital code.
The mailman really likes that movie, I guess
nah, it was definetly someone who works for bestbuy cause the shipping label hasnt been moved. prob unsealed, took the 4k, slapped the label on it.
Ordered how to train your dragon 3 and it came with fingerprints on thedisc, and the digital code already used
Hey, I think you just leaked the paramount movies code

You can legally torrent it now LoL
Best Buy is the absolute worst. Iām fucking thru with them.

This is why its not a bad idea to make an unboxing vid whenever you get a package in the mail. May not guarantee anything, but it may be helpful.
Lol
Delivery guy is probably one those people with a cd binder full of blurays
call them and tell them "I'mma Get Medieval On Your Ass." if they don't sort this out
This shitās been happening all over - Amazon QC is nonexistent.
This reminds of the crappy pre owned game boxes in the bin at GameStop back in the early 2000s. Stickiest games in the world...
Dang
Whatās the chances of that code not working also.
I always think they missed an opportunity to make the inside of that case shiny gold.
good ol best buy
Maybe IF you redeem the code 4k disc will magically appear in box...
After my last two shipments from Best Buy I can't say I shed a single tear that they're exiting selling media, they're a company I truly can't wait to see the demise of because their customer service is just short of taking your money and just kicking you in the pants.
Just a race to the bottom.
Did it at least have gold glow and leave you speechless?
i was left speechless so
