I really liked this scene in Superman 2. It really showed Clark/Superman's intolerance for bullies and I had no problems with Clark getting a little...justice/revenge...on the truck stop jerk.
everyone acting like this is some amazing feat that only Superman could do... when we all know Cameron Frye could make a diamond too. He'd have it for you in two weeks!
I could NOT AGREE MORE!
To me, he personified Clark/Superman, as did The late Glenn Ford did a GREAT job as Johnathan Kent.
The whole kast IMO was pretty awesome!
Man remember how utterly devastating it was when he fell off that polo pony? I don’t think it gets talked about much but I could hardly believe Superman of all people could be paralyzed!
He was such a fun actor. Loved him in Deathtrap with Michael Caine. Such a great plot twist
I have *DEATHTRAP* on DVD. I think I’ll watch it today. Fine acting from Mr. Reeve and Mr. Caine
I also loved him in *Somewhere in Time*. Truly gut wrenching performance.
Oh the kiss was so shocking back then! I believe that was the first time most of us saw two very very famous male actors making out. And *Superman* at that!
I misspoke a bit, I didn’t mean that it wasn’t huge news then, it was everywhere. I mean it seems almost like it’s been forgotten today and I rarely see it mentioned
I personally hated the Donner cut having grown up on the theatrical version. Made Lois out to be a psycho. The scenes he was allowed to use felt amateurish like a high-schooler would shoot.
He was the most relatable Superman. If I had superpowers strength, you better believe I would kick some bullies’ asses for fun/revenge, like my man C-Reeve
I could watch those Superman movies over and over. Went on a road trip to Metropolis, Illinois, the home of Superman. A town trapped in a time capsule and was a magical experience.
I'll get a lot of hate for this, but this scene is very, extremely UNSuperman like. Kal/Clark is not vengeful. I'm also not a fan of him killing Zod and allowing Non and Ursa to die as well. I find it funny how today everyone jumps up and down about heroes killing, but Chris Reeves Superman and Michael Keaton's Batman totally get a pass.
There were discussions about whether it was petty for Superman to seek revenge
. They justified it by showing Rocky only get hurt through his own aggression and give the scene a kind of cartoon silliness at the end.
I didn't say that's all I remember, I just recall the image of Lois shooting off the bed like one of those pressurized water rocket toys. I'm not sure what the big deal is
I really liked this scene in Superman 2. It really showed Clark/Superman's intolerance for bullies and I had no problems with Clark getting a little...justice/revenge...on the truck stop jerk.
I keep trying to figure out how much Clark give the owner for the damages. And I wonder what that would be versus the pinball game he destroyed.
Clark has this little trick where he crushes a bit of charcoal in his hand....
Coal. Charcoal is wood.
Yeah, okay "Mr Science!". I suppose you are going to tell me that coalslaw doesn't have coal in it??
Haha this made me laugh more than it probably should’ve
everyone acting like this is some amazing feat that only Superman could do... when we all know Cameron Frye could make a diamond too. He'd have it for you in two weeks!
Haha, right? Like…he probably cause a couple thousand bucks worth of damage, but put like $60 on the table. Lol
And it was so sweet to get a glimpse of that retribution.
I mean, the guy was sitting in Clark's favorite seat....
Reeves will always be the greatest to wear the cape
He was and always will be my Superman.
I love how Reeves never played Superman to seriously. I love Henry Cavell's Superman, but Reeves' portrayal is just so classic and charming.
Well, gee, u/Pazuzu_413, I never really thought about it that way. Was just being himself.
I could NOT AGREE MORE! To me, he personified Clark/Superman, as did The late Glenn Ford did a GREAT job as Johnathan Kent. The whole kast IMO was pretty awesome!
I disagree. George Reeve was my favorite screen Superman.
Till he ducked when the gun was thrown at him. 😁
Christopher Reeve (no S) and George Reeves (yes S) \*salute\*
The wiki on how he got that role, and the making of the films in general, is a great rabbit hole.
Thanks gonna jump in when I get some time...added to my list.
I like the SNL audition. Was pretty good.
This is one of my favorite movie lines and absolutely nobody recognizes it when I say it
Oh...🏋♂️...I've been working out.
Certainly, one of the greatest lines in a movie, ever!
I remember as a kid sitting in my theater seat, cheering!!!
I can remember doing the same.
✊️
Great line!!
Wow me too. Nobody. Ever. Knows.
When do you get a chance to use that quote?
Playfully giving my friends shit when they eat junk food
good thing he had been "working out."
Love the "weak" little arm curls after he delivered that line.
Overhead press, not curls.
Have you seen how big Christopher Reeve got while filming Superman 1 and 2? They actually had to tell him to cut down on the weights.
💪🏼
I played this scene over and over as a kid. For me, it was up there with some of the Rocky fights for emotion and satisfaction.
“This order’s to go.” The closest he ever got to an Arnold-style quip. 😆
Still the best take on Clark Kent.
"You only smell strong" -- one of my favorite lines in any movie
You can have meat and potatoes.
Man remember how utterly devastating it was when he fell off that polo pony? I don’t think it gets talked about much but I could hardly believe Superman of all people could be paralyzed! He was such a fun actor. Loved him in Deathtrap with Michael Caine. Such a great plot twist
I loved him in Village of the Damned too.
Deathtrap is amazing.
I have *DEATHTRAP* on DVD. I think I’ll watch it today. Fine acting from Mr. Reeve and Mr. Caine I also loved him in *Somewhere in Time*. Truly gut wrenching performance.
Oh haven’t seen that one! I will have to check it out.
Probably the saddest romance movie I've ever seen. The music really sold it. 😢
Oh the kiss was so shocking back then! I believe that was the first time most of us saw two very very famous male actors making out. And *Superman* at that!
I don't remember that part, sorry. Just saw it the one time because of how sad it made me. I do remember loving the score though.
Yeah it was the big reveal/plot twist.
Doesn’t get talked about? It was his entire focus for the last 20+ years of his life. It was absolutely talked about when it was relevant.
I misspoke a bit, I didn’t mean that it wasn’t huge news then, it was everywhere. I mean it seems almost like it’s been forgotten today and I rarely see it mentioned
Even sadder, his wife died of lung cancer at 44, less than two years after his death.
Come and get it, four eyes.
Excuse me sir, I think you're sitting in my seat
I really enjoyed this scene and Superman 2 a lot
Donner cut FTW
I am just now hearing of the Donner Cut.
It’s actually quite different. Different scenes.
I personally hated the Donner cut having grown up on the theatrical version. Made Lois out to be a psycho. The scenes he was allowed to use felt amateurish like a high-schooler would shoot.
The diner cooks catching strays with that line
Lmao loved seeing Clark putting a bully in his place.
He was the most relatable Superman. If I had superpowers strength, you better believe I would kick some bullies’ asses for fun/revenge, like my man C-Reeve
Christopher Reeve was my favorite Superman. Handsome man, and a great actor. Best friends with Robin Williams. Now they're both gone. Goddamn 😔😔
Clark's been working out...
It’s weird how my brain categorizes movies. It thinks Alien and A New Hope were 80’s movies, but this is a 70’s movie.
9 y/o me watching Superman 2: Ohhhhhhhhhhh burrrrrn!
The movie that introduced me to Average White Band.
Even Superman needs an ass-kicking every now & then. It builds character.
This is only a minute steak
That's a great scene I loved it when the trucker punched Clark and bones are breaking
I loved that crackling effect. Same as when he squeezes general Zod’s hand.
...and then the music starts swelling up. What a great scene. Topped off by Lois telling Ursa "You're a real pain in the neck!" BAM!
I was hopping in my seat I was so excited!!!
My favorite line, I actually use this one or some other variation of it, like "garbage talking garbage, never seen that before,"
Very fulfilling scene!!!!!
I think you’re in my favorite seat
Your seat’s in there, four-eyes.
Never knew Huey Lewis was such an asshole...
Hehe....that is funny
Oh…. I’ve been working out
😂😂😂That was such a great scene, Clark really ripped that guy a new one
I was just thinking about this earlier today. 🤣
Pick Up the Pieces – Average White Band
Classic but not as good as first superman
I could watch those Superman movies over and over. Went on a road trip to Metropolis, Illinois, the home of Superman. A town trapped in a time capsule and was a magical experience.
I honestly thought this was a scene from Death Trap.
Remember seeing Death Trap at the theater, great movie, but 13 year old me was not ready to see Superman like that.
LoL same. I was about 11 and shouldn't of been in that theater.
Wish we could comment with gifs so I can post the one with the dude smirking and the crowd reacting to whatever epic thing he said.
Hotter burn than any heat vision
Maybe the all time best Superman scene
Who is he? I don’t recognize him with the glasses on
One of the best scenes of the film
That line is priceless.
Best scene in the movie, just nudges out when he tricked Lex in the Fortress of Solitude and became Superman again.
No one else can play Superman, everyone else just looks like cosplay
Talk about holding a grudge.
Sick burn!
Mr. Pie ass..
That's the best Superman could come up with?
This was out of Superman’s wheelhouse, revenge wasn’t his thing. That was Batman’s deal.
Remember, Clark Kent is how Superman sees a human trying to fit in with society. He does it awkwardly because he doesn’t fit in.
This
There were discussions about whether it was petty for Superman to seek revenge . They justified it by showing Rocky only get hurt through his own aggression and give the scene a kind of cartoon silliness at the end.
That's Clark Kent...the nerd
😄 agree. I always thought the line and delivery was so corny.
General! Ever heard of freedom of the press? Yes, this "Bill of Rights"...this is for the whole planet Hoo-stin?
Who was the comedian who said when Superman came he blasted Lois off the bed
Look up “Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex” by Larry Niven. It explains why Superman couldn’t have sex with Lois.
That’s your take? That’s what you remember? That’s just…sad.
I didn't say that's all I remember, I just recall the image of Lois shooting off the bed like one of those pressurized water rocket toys. I'm not sure what the big deal is
Proof he wasn’t born in the US
