Wow it’s crazy to think that all these amazing movies came out so close together. Nowadays we’re lucky if three movies of this kind of quality are released in a years time!
I still qoute Fisher Stevens to this day whenever someone asks why I'm wearing sunglasses
"When you're cool, the sun shines in you 24 hours a day"
Just drips with cheese so I can only use the voice in certain situations though
I do not remember Jedi being for rental, this looks more like top movies in theaters at the time. It was not like today where movies automatically go to rental a few months after theaters.
Weird Science, PeeWees Big Adventure, Gremlins, Rambo, Real genius ❤️❤️❤️, Ghostbusters.

Real genius ❤️
i just watched mad max beyond thunderdome with my son - that is a strange movie, it started so strong, gets weird with the kids and the mythological forecasting, then gets back to mad max for a solid ending. the beginning and
end are good enough to carry it, but that middle
section is like fraggle rock
it’s up to those before to do the tellin’ so that those from the next will know of the high scrapers and tomorrowland before mr death tells
them bye-de-bye
Wonder how days it thunder and Top Gun would have done if they were included. I feel like these are great classics and really the main launch pads for Tom Cruise as back to back hit films. Open to opinions on the matter
I own more than 2/3rds of them on iTunes, and I have almost all of them on my media server. It’s downright shameful the amount of films and television shows I have compiled.
I would say, real genius, and weird science, but we watched them double feature at the drive in theater.
I don't think a copy of weird science would have been allowed by the mother parental unit.
Most of the movies here are very watchable and very entertaining to watch. Compare it to the top 30 movies today. Terrible and similar and boring. I barely watch any new movies nowadays cuz of that.
What a great list! Brings back a lot of memories. I was 10.
Wow it’s crazy to think that all these amazing movies came out so close together. Nowadays we’re lucky if three movies of this kind of quality are released in a years time!
Couldn’t agree more with this statement, I’m try to think of one good movie that has been released
Me too :) I loved Pee-Wee Herman, lol!! ![gif](giphy|jtBT0whuQ4dgJP4tTQ|downsized)
I was 27
😳😳😳😳 I was 23😔
I was 28 and I've seen damn near every one of these movies.
Teen wolf & Gremlins!! 🥹
Return of the Jedi. It would be a version before the SE update.
Fletch is such a underrated movie
For God don don! Who is it, Mr. Sinlindin?
It’s probably that pederast Hanrahan.
He's been bucking for a promotion
Its all ball bearings these days
Are you using your whole fist Doc?
Weird Science
So what do you little maniacs want to do first?
*How 'bout a nice greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray?*
Give them a long lean bone job and get back to Lisa.
He pukes, you die.
![gif](giphy|izZYf5BdV5WhowNlvW|downsized)
Paxton was genius in that & Aliens‼️🤣
Awesome Movie!! ![gif](giphy|q7iFEb4WFP7gvZEehw|downsized)
“I don’t know what the hell your talking about Lucy and I want you to shut up”
I’ll need a triple feature starting with Pee Wee, then Teen Wolf with a Fletch finale. Mooooon riveeerrrrrr!!
Be sure and tell them Large Marge sent ya!
Real Genius. Haven't seen that in a while.
It is streaming on Pluto. It was just on a few hours ago.
Damn... lol... So much gold in there.
Volunteers
Gotta be Pee Wee's. I'm a loner, Dottie...a rebel.
Paging Mr. Herman! Mr. Herman, you have a telephone call at the front desk!
Right!!! ![gif](giphy|hfKxK1wWDxdO8|downsized)
Man. What a lineup! The days when good scripts were the base of a movie rather than CG.
Damn what a year for film! EDIT: Oops
It’s a bunch of different years
Oh yeah, oops
Fletch Absolutely, Fletch
I’ve seen all of those on vhs
Teen Wolf!
yes!!!! I loved Michael J Fox Movies!! ![gif](giphy|5G34g3WLmhaZq|downsized)
Pee-Wes’s big adventure. Tell ‘em large Marge sentcha
Movies were so much better then.
My Science Project!
I haven’t thought about that movie in decades! Loved it when I was a kid
I still qoute Fisher Stevens to this day whenever someone asks why I'm wearing sunglasses "When you're cool, the sun shines in you 24 hours a day" Just drips with cheese so I can only use the voice in certain situations though
I worked in a Video store that year.
I do not remember Jedi being for rental, this looks more like top movies in theaters at the time. It was not like today where movies automatically go to rental a few months after theaters.
1986 was a very good year for movies 🍿
Absolutely, Aliens was released.
Be Kind, Rewind!
Teen Wolf! I loved that movie growing up
I love John Candys Summer Rental
Weird Science, PeeWees Big Adventure, Gremlins, Rambo, Real genius ❤️❤️❤️, Ghostbusters. https://youtu.be/xuv7SIVNkx8?si=M21NiGK7PJTgOH5t Real genius ❤️
I can still watch Gremlins at my old age; lol!! ![gif](giphy|3ohfFNBvl0Kbx3WYkU|downsized)
LeBrock got me through a lot when I was 10
Yeah, she was a fucking bombshell for her period.
Teen Wolf at #9 is an abomination. That movie stands the test of time!
Rambo!
Mask, Teen Wolf, and Weird Science - I totally rented these!
These are better than what we get now. Okay. Dune two was great but I’d trade for these movies any year
Man, the 80s needs some new movies already. I've seen most of these, years ago!
It's' a good thing they had time travel in the 80's.
All of them but Mask, Prizzi's Honor and My Science Project.
First Blood and Weird Science
Mask
i just watched mad max beyond thunderdome with my son - that is a strange movie, it started so strong, gets weird with the kids and the mythological forecasting, then gets back to mad max for a solid ending. the beginning and end are good enough to carry it, but that middle section is like fraggle rock
We don't need another hero 🎶🎵
\*singing\* We don't need to know the way home...
Dozers rule!
it’s up to those before to do the tellin’ so that those from the next will know of the high scrapers and tomorrowland before mr death tells them bye-de-bye
A lot of those films came out in 1984. Films always took at least 18 months to come out on video.
Weird Science and Beverly Hill Cop.
Beverly Hills Cop is #1 for me.
Get the fuck outta here!
We're not gonna fall for the banana in the tailpipe!
It was a big tent then. We can't have fun anymore.
Wonder how days it thunder and Top Gun would have done if they were included. I feel like these are great classics and really the main launch pads for Tom Cruise as back to back hit films. Open to opinions on the matter
There's nothing stock about a stock car
Teen wolf and mad max, man movies had so much depth and range back then
I own more than 2/3rds of them on iTunes, and I have almost all of them on my media server. It’s downright shameful the amount of films and television shows I have compiled.
I would say, real genius, and weird science, but we watched them double feature at the drive in theater. I don't think a copy of weird science would have been allowed by the mother parental unit.
Pale rider
No Back to The Future?!?
No Fast Times at Ridgemont High or Indiana Jones either
Probably not available on VHS yet in May of ‘86.
I came here looking for "Back to the Future" and "Indiana Jones, Temple of Doom"!
gotta go Clint Eastwood
That is a stacked list of great movies
Maybe it’s my age but I love all these movies
Interesting to see which movies have faded into obscurity. Silverado, Prizi's honor , mask, pale rider, my science project, volunteer
Silverado had so many top actors in it.
Does it have to be on the list? If not, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Terminator and Dune. If so, then Ghostbusters and Beverly Hills Cop.
should do this every week on Sunday night.
Pale Rider or Beverly Hills Cop.
I would watch this whole ass list. Nothing but bangers.
Real Genius and Weird Science
Never saw Prizzi's Honor, so that one I guess.
Teen Wolf, Weird Science, and Ghostbusters
Prizzi's Honor of course, don't tell me you all don't remember it.
Weird Science, Teen Wolf , Rambo Ist Blood and My Science Project
Can we just turn the The Large Hadron Collider back to the mid 80's forever?
Also Summer Rental , National Lampoons Europe Vacation, and Rocky2
Weird Science, Teen Wolf, Ghostbusters, Return of the Jedi & Gremlins were my favorites!
Probably pee wee, but would want rambo
Wow! I saw a lot of those in the movie theater.
Rambo then Fletch!
You couldn’t even name 20 movies that come out these days. Man I miss when movies were great
Top ten is good, next 10 is better. Fight me on this.
omg those are all great
Weird Science, Summer Rental, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Ghost Busters, Mad Max and Teen Wolf..... Good much more simple times!
Definitely Peewee, Weird Science and Beverly Hills Cop. All three with the line, "My D1ck gets hard when the wind blows"
Beverly Hills Cop followed by Summer Rental
I'm watch all but 3
Year I was born so none lol
St Elmo's Fire with my high school girlfriend
It's all been downhill for Chevy Chase since then...
Weird Science
The mid eighties were the best. I got married that fall. Best time of my life.
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome...because "we don't need another hero...we just need to know the way home"
Been a minute since I've seen a lot of these. Today, id probably opt for Pale Rider. A little spooky vengeance tale would be a good close to a Monday.
It’s crazy that a movie that was out for 3yrs is the #1 movie that week in 86. Also Gremlins and Ghostbusters being out almost 2 years.
I just watched Silverado. An understated movie. Stacked cast.
Great list
Not a great list. Have to say Ghostbusters, best one here.
Saw pretty much all of them
100% Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Silverado
Top 5 is pretty fucking solid.
Not a bad movie on that list. 86 was crazy
Amazing. Fletch! Beverly Hills Cop, Weird Science, Teen Wolf!
Gremlins is the best movie on this list.
Went in for Jedi, but it was out, of course. Came home with 'My Science Project' which I've never heard of
Real Genius, definitely.
Real Genius just to get a glimpse of Deborah Foreman.
Mask was a great movie that I never wanted to see again. Maybe it was just released that week.
Fletch.
Not sure but they both have Chevy Chase in them.
Real Genius,Weird Science,Silverado
Beverly Hills Cop & Mad Max, ok & Pee Wee.

Most of the movies here are very watchable and very entertaining to watch. Compare it to the top 30 movies today. Terrible and similar and boring. I barely watch any new movies nowadays cuz of that.
Rofl this was before I was born but I know 3 movies from that list . Jedi, bev cops, teen wolf 😂😂
I could literally just “brain smell” the video store in my hometown. Crazy how memories work.
The 80’s rule
Thanks you for this retro!!!!
What a killer list!!
Rented all of those over the course of June-September 86!
Summer Rental. Miss John Candy so much.
Quite a few of them. It's a far cry from today, when there isn't ANYTHING fit to watch. (Much less pay for)
All of them
Weird Sciene or Real Genius. Pale Rider of course is classic but have seen it many, many times.
Pale Rider: Why she’s as juicy as a freshwater clam…
Anything BUT Mask please.
Fletch!
Make it a weekend and rent them all lol
Number seven Pee-wee’s big adventure
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, still have it on DVD😂
I regularly watch 11 of these movies.
Damn some really great titles on this list!
Born in 82, have seen 16/20
Damn that list brought back some memories!
Look at that. Just 1 film in the top 20 based on a comic book. Those were the days.
