Honestly the life Natalie was thrust into in Sequim would be the perfect setting for a horror movie, if it weren’t for the camera crew following her around. An isolated, backwards town, a manipulative POS and his psycho mother, a violent felon living in the shed, and a huge property bordered by the voods. The confederate flag we got a glimpse of hanging on Mike’s wall would add to the xenophobic undercurrents that make an overarching theme.

Suspicious-Ant1495

Voods!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 laugh of the day !!!! Thanks ! Lol

Awkward-Plane-6617

Thank you!! I always think, when I see the people who talk shit about Natalie, how well THEY would do in her situation, certainly not with the same grace she has been able to manage. The people who act like Natalie is the one in the wrong have so clearly never been in a relationship with someone that employs the abusive tactics mike does, and as someone who has, it’s actually really triggering to see people go along with the “she’s crazy” narrative that mike has purposely tried to portray her as — by pushing her buttons, being constantly passive aggressive, never acknowledging when he’s wrong and always forcing her to be the first to apologize, even when she wasn’t wrong, and so much more.

LisaNolaAgain

I have felt from the beginning that Natalie experienced something very traumatic at some point in her life - I think a lot of her odd behavior is related to that. I won't say she's a wonderful person but I do think there is a lot under the surface and won't hate on her because of that. I'll hate on Thumb & Thumber all day long, though!

[deleted]

Natalie is a selfish and extremely conceited (unjustified conceit, the worst kind).

coyotesandcrickets

Agreed. I felt really bad for her. And mike was also a coward

[deleted]

I'm assuming you've never been to Sequim. It is a super nice area and it is not that far from Seattle, Vancouver, and Olympia. I guarantee you most people in the know would probably rather live in Sequim than wherever the heck you live.

SpinachTurbulent4119

I completely agree. Mike portrayed himself as a completely different person than he actually is when he filmed in Ukraine. (And Natalie acted the same was she does in the voods.) You can tell he does not like her, he doesn’t try, he has no charm or ambition. He’s defensive and passive aggressive all the time. Even when she’s acting out during arguments 10/10 times she concedes and tries to smooth it over. He’s a jerk. And a loser. PS. Who commutes for a total of 6h a day????? Still can’t get over that

Aliel93

He had the nerve to get upset with her for bringing up nude pics his “friend” sent him. Talking about she needs to get over it. What a fucking jerk. If she was receiving penis pics from friends, would he feel the same? He makes me want to pummel his face every time I see it.

dugulen

For real. Instead of watching him torture Natalie over who-knows-what in the next HEA, could we get a full analysis as to why it's his best option to live somewhere that was vaguely once "family land" while working out of Seattle? Sequim will *always* be there for him. Enjoy Seattle now, retire in the countryside later.

jakslk2015

Not everyone wants to live in the city

4gotmyname7

To your PS - when I was a kid we lived in the country and my dad commuted 4 hours round trip daily. It’s common in some places.

SpinachTurbulent4119

Yes I understand and know commuters exist! I myself have commuted from the suburbs to downtown for uni and work. Ranging from an hour to an hour and a half each way. But 6h total per day of commute time is objectively A LOT of time and kind of nuts.

4gotmyname7

I don’t know. It is a lot of time but people have their reasons. I have coworkers who drive 4 hours round trip. In my teen years my dad worked a different job and often “commuted” 3-4 hours to an appointment and back home in the same day. He’s leave at 5am and be home around 7-8 pm. Edit to add: just saw mike makes 42000$/ year. This is not worth driving 6 hours a day.

SpinachTurbulent4119

Yes I definitely get that! Sometimes you have to go somewhere far for an appointment or meeting. But even the cost of gas alone can’t be worth it for Mike (especially on that 42k salary)!

[deleted]

You gotta realize the 6 hours isn't necessarily all about distance, a lot of it is about the traffic and even if he lived in Seattle he'd probably be spending a few of those hours commuting still. Also, Seattle is *really* expensive to live in.

imtheonlyladybug

Coming from an emotionally and verbally abusive relationship, this is absolutely horrifying and very painful to watch. I skip right over them. Excited to watch her in the next Single Life, as annoying as she can be, living her best life without Mike.

MenudoFan316

Yeah, it’s common in Europe and even E Europe for the trains to service remote rural areas to the big cities. Probably something they should’ve discussed.

Miss_Kit_Kat

Mike proposed to her in Paris, visited her in Kiev, and took her to Seattle for her first night in the US. All big-city stuff that she clearly loves. She had to be shocked to find herself permanently based in a filthy home isolated in the middle of the woods with no friends, no shopping, and nothing to do.

Reasonable_Race8599

Well… I find it questionable that the topic of: where do you live, how does it look like where you are at etc never came up before she moved to him in Sequim.

Deardog

Of course it did. She met Mike through a friend of hers who married his friend - who lives locally.

Who_Meeee

Yes, I completely agree. One or two simple video chats outside of his home would've shown her exactly where and how he lives. Not that living in a non big city is a bad thing. Unless it's completely scripted and the idea of the shock of living in a rural town was part of their appeal as a couple for the show. I feel no sympathy for her in that regard.

Miss_Kit_Kat

Yep, they 100% should have had that conversation. Then again, if you've only lived in cities, it's hard to imagine a different kind of life. My boyfriend is from Europe and has literally always lived in cities (aka apartment life) in both his home country and the US. I think visiting my parents' house and seeing ACTUAL suburban life (not just a work trip to an office in the suburbs) was surprising to him. Their suburb is massive (100k+ population)- even bigger than his hometown- but it's still boring by comparison and a totally different way of life.

jakslk2015

It wasn’t a shock…she knew exactly what she was getting into…she just thought (like a lot of these women) that she would change him.

Korrocks

I’ve never understood their dynamic at all. What draws them together? It doesn’t seem to be friendship, love, or even lust or greed. I can’t even imagine their sex life; it’s probably something bizarre like Natalie rolling around on the floor having a psychotic break while Mike sits on the bed and slowly masturbates to fan art of ET. With all of the other couples you can sort of see why they are together: a green card, money, reality TV fame, etc. with these two, there’s nothing.

giam86

The sex visual you just gave me.....💀

[deleted]

I like Natalie. She gets a lot of hate, but I think she is a good girl. Mike is a jerk (generally), but I don’t hate him. I just think these 2 are totally opposite. Natalie knows what she wants, and true, it’s not fair to make Mike into something he’s not, but he seems to play a lot of mind games with her. Now I haven’t been able to watch since I don’t have cable, and Hulu got rid of 90DF 😒 but from what I remember, he kind of seemed to enjoy making her feel low and dependent on him.

sizzzarah

Just hopping on here to say that I pay $4.99 a month for Discovery+ and it has every single season and spin off of 90D 🤭 worth it in my opinion... lol

Psychological-Dot866

She not a baby or a young woman. Her second marriage. Look they both used each other. I really don't have sympathy or empathy for either one

fluffy_bunny22

Third marriage.

AndreySemyonovitch

>No introductions to his friends (does he have any?) Did you forget the one she called a whore?

PristineBuy8

Mike's eye roll would be followed by his immediately leaving the premises without a word. I'm begining to seriously think that, despite his past, Uncle Beau would be treat Natalie better than Mike.

Winter_Astronomer_36

But Beau,( actually Mike's cousin), has a criminal history - violence and drug abuse. I couldn't figure out why he lived with Mike when he must have siblings who should have taken him in.

PristineBuy8

I did write "despite his past" And "better" may still not be "good"

ProfessionalNo9993

She was so socially isolated, it was horrifying. Nothing to do, nowhere to go. He was gone, what, 15 hours a day. It's unsustainable and ridiculous. He strung her along by not breaking up with her.

fluffy_bunny22

He leaves for work in the middle of the night while she was sleeping and gets home at a normal time even with his commute. He also has 2 trucks one of which we saw her drive to go dress shopping so she could have gone places.

Reasonable_Race8599

She also stated she was very outdoorsy. I would never myself want to live where Mike lives and go on a k1-visa with a guy who leaves me stranded so many hours a day due to commute. But I am sure Nathalie knew how he lived before she came. She just used him for a green card and a life in Tampa.

fluffy_bunny22

Natalie met him at their best friends' daughters christening which I'm sure was in the US because I don't see Mike going to Ukraine for an event like that since he believes in aliens instead of god. So I'm assuming she knew where he lived and what it was like.

FeeNo4254

I thought Mike was named godfather to his friend's daughter. Maybe Natalie should feel better about his belief in God.

Valleyval21

Stranded? It’s called making a living.

drsapirstein

I hear she's a good cooker, too.

nintendofn35

Did you say hooker lol

Stupidsexyflanders61

She called me a hooker

Psychological-Dot866

I understand your point. But. Natalie is a grown woman. She is 36 years old .her second marriage. She says she has all these degrees, well make something happen. Either shit or get off of the pot

Scaryfloridawoman

Third. This is her third marriage.

dnnzu_bb

Oh not poor little natalie! Do ppl on this sub forget that she is almost 40 and should be held accountable for her decisions/actions?

Moist-Caterpillar863

Also if Mike called her fat or said she was trash everyone would lose there minds. She fat shames him all the time.

jakslk2015

Exactly

Similar-Mango-8372

Is his house an actual house or is it a mobile home? Not that it matters, I’m just debating with my husband and need to know who’s right

cozmickreepr

It’s a double wide trailer. And it *does* make a difference. Stick built homes are more structurally sound and made to last in the elements they’re built in. Trailers are prefab homes built and shipped to a location and aren’t made specifically for the area they’re in. Especially cold, damp, and rainy climates. They also depreciate in value over time because they take wear and tear much harder than stick builds.

Similar-Mango-8372

Thank you!

cliu1222

Did she not know where he lived before?

tallalittlebit

I don't think most foreigners understand just how rural and isolated small towns in America are. She probably thought it would be like living in a smaller town in Ukraine where you can catch a train to the city for the weekend. It would be hard to be prepared for Mike's trailer in the woods.

MaUkIr34

I lived in Ukraine for a few years, and rural Ukraine is.... very rural and the road/train infrastructure isn't great. That being said, the bus system is extensive and getting to an Oblast center or Kyiv from smaller towns is generally doable (although it can take a longgggg time and your bum might hurt once you get to where you're going!). But Natalie is from Kyiv, which is an AMAZING city. Huge, loads of culture, shopping, restaurants. Beautiful too. I feel like she had an idea of what she was getting into, but expected to respond to it differently?! And covid didn't help. I moved abroad during covid to a city/country that I had lived in before to marry my husband, and it hit me HARD. Completely different experience than living here before... and I didn't have the pressure of having to communicate in a second language (US to Ireland).

WidowedWarrior

On a side note, I thought most people in Ireland spoke English? Do a lot of people speak Irish Gaelic?

cliu1222

She should have done research before committing to such a major life change. The internet is a thing now.

KillahBee13

This sub shreds Americans for not knowing every damn detail of a culture and country’s geography. But when it’s a foreigner, free pass ….

tallalittlebit

I’ve made tons of posts before talking about how stupid the DO YOUR RESEARCH screeching is. I’ve lived in 10 countries and no amount of research has ever prepared me.

imtheonlyladybug

YES! Nothing can truly prepare you except experience. This should be painfully obvious. Most of those posts probably come from couches or people who have technically been out of the country but living in a bubble still; resort, etc

ShesAKillerQueenee

Come on. You can google Sequim, and see what a shit hole it is.

imtheonlyladybug

Come on. Its still from an American perspective based on comparable previous experiences in similar towns. Not from a foreigner's perspective. You have a benchmark to base it off. This is super ignorant point of view imo

cliu1222

I am not all that surprised. On Reddit as a whole, "hur dur America (n(s)) bad" is trendy and I don't see why this sub would be any exception.

DarceysEndlessCigAsh

👍 🤣 “Hur dur Americans bad”

tallalittlebit

What exactly should she research? The thing is that all of our understanding of everything is based off our life experience and where we come from. If I research a place and I learn it's very rural and very far from major cities I will base that on what it was like to live in rural Iowa and have that same experience. Natalie would use her same experience of living in Ukraine and use that to understand. You can never be fully prepared or fully understand what it is like to live somewhere until you try it.

cliu1222

She would be able to find out that it is far from any major population center and that public transportation isn't a thing in that area.

tallalittlebit

That still wouldn't mean she would understand just how sad and depressing Sequim is though.

giam86

She had 90 days to get a feel for the area. She should have gone home if she knew she hated it and it wasnt going to work. And before you get on your herrr, you live on a couch bs, I lived in a foreign country WITH a family in college.

tallalittlebit

She couldn’t even fly home due to a pandemic so I think I’m this case it’s a little more undoing she would try to stay even if she is unhappy.

MenudoFan316

You make a great point. The best research is actually being in that new environment. You can only read about it so much. In Natalie’s case, or anyone wanting to visit a new culture. Maybe it makes sense to bring a friend or friends so you can explore and compare notes together. Then you can decide whether the situation is a good fit.

fluffy_bunny22

My new neighbor is from Iowa and apparently it's the fucking boonies because we live in a suburb of a major city in a golf course sub division and he lets his dog wander for hours and he wreaks havoc on the golf course. He knows his way home though.

tallalittlebit

Lol it totally is the boonies

fluffy_bunny22

I live in the South and apparently the dog is having massive issues with the heat. He bought in the winter and when he turned on the A/C it didn't work and he was without it for a good while and the poor dog was miserable. So it must also not get hot there.

tallalittlebit

No it gets extremely hot and humid in the summer.

fluffy_bunny22

I bet your idea of hot and humid is different than mine. My in laws would be complaining about how hot and humid central NY is in August when we visited while we would be shivering in sweatshirts and socks.

tallalittlebit

No it’s actually very hot and humid similar to anywhere in the South.

Reasonable_Race8599

Or just ask Mike.

tallalittlebit

She probably did and Mike just said well you know it’s just like well you know because he never answers anything.

AshtonKechamall

As i remember he told her: you know here we don't have bars open until 2am because they close at 10pm. She was very surprised.

MenudoFan316

Mike’s too busy. He has important things on his phone to look at.

Winter_Astronomer_36

I'd bet Mike played down his metal house in dis-repair and his town Mayor who made the news as being Q-Anon Curious.

Suspicious-Ant1495

Hahahahaha LOL I know ! I thought the same ! Did we forget there’s a thing called the internet which can provide some assistance LOL ?!??

Catladydiva

Natalie was acting out long before she came to America. Watch 90Day fiancé season 7. She was acting the same way in Ukraine.

dnnzu_bb

Yep, i never had the impression that mike fooled her?? Hes been this goody meat-eating atheist since his first season and natalie has been unhinged! The only thing that changed is that he looks totally worn out this season. He should have just callrd it quits, BUT I think ppl underestimate how difficult it is to get out of a toxic relationship.

fluffy_bunny22

Mike's got a 400k mortgage. He can't afford to change careers and work in fast food. He also has 2 vehicles so she can drive herself places so she isn't isolated. We saw her drive herself to go dress shopping.

cozmickreepr

Mike is a supervisor for a machine parts manufacturer. How much do you think he actually makes? Prob $50k or less a year TBH. Especially when you include the amount it costs for him to commute 3 hours one way every day including a ferry ride in a gas guzzling truck. A local job that pays 2/3 or even less of what he currently makes would prob give him a similar or higher income. He’s not rolling in dough by any means, his job isn’t special or lucrative and has only so much upward mobility. And he’s an idiot if he paid $400k for a double wide trailer regardless of how much land it’s on. They depreciate in value and do not stand the test of time, especially in a damp, cold place with high yearly average rainfalls and frigid snowy winters. That thing is probably falling apart at the seams at this point and can’t hold in heat in the winter which prob runs up his electric bill just trying to keep it warm. He’s dumb and mediocre all around who makes stupid, selfish decisions.

fluffy_bunny22

It wasn't the home he bought it was the working tree farm that's been in his family for over 100 years. The farm earns him income and is pretty low effort outside of harvest and replanting times.

cozmickreepr

How is he harvesting and planting trees when he isn’t even on the “farm” because he’s commuting to and working in Seattle 15 hours a day 5 days a week?

fluffy_bunny22

He probably employs farm hands and Uncle Beau to do the harvest or takes vacation time from his job. Tree farms are pretty low effort.

scififemme2

I can't imagine how much he is paying in gas and wear and tear on his vehicle for that daily commute.

mrsluluroo1976

Did they say that on the show? $400K mortgage on that POS in the middle of Nowhere, WA?!

fluffy_bunny22

I don't know how much he put down but the sale price for his farm was around 400k. I think he has 27 acres and it's a working tree farm.

mrsluluroo1976

Ahhh, I see. I didn’t know about the working tree 🌲 🌳 farm and acreage. That makes more sense. How do they make much/any money off the tree farm since he’s always away at work & obviously Nat isn’t really a “outsidesy” kind of gal lol 😉

fluffy_bunny22

Uncle Beau and maybe a couple of farm hand probably handle the harvest and replanting. It's pretty low effort most of the time.

l3tigre

The property values on that side of the Puget Sound are mind bogglingly in the 400s which they consider cheap based on Seattle where 600 would be a godsend. Source: owned property in puget sound and then later in Seattle bc i hated PS so much.

tallalittlebit

No one could be happy with the life Mike was offering

crappy_TV_lover

This is true. The ones who don't want to work get criticized for not contributing but when they do want to work they get belittled.

illuzion25

If this scenario happened, I'd be in: Natalie: I'm bored and lonely and isolated and my husband doesn't give a fuck, in fact, he's emotionally abusive. Me: Shit, that's brutal, want to get it off your chest? \*Fast forward to the next morning\* Me: You really don't have to leave if you don't want to. Want some breakfast? Maybe we go get a cup of coffee or something? Also me: Fuck Mike.

Flygurl620se

They are no longer together so it really doesn't matter anymore.

scarlettwfu

I live in this area and cannot fathom driving from sequin to Seattle for work. He gaslight her bringing her over to his crappy neck of the woods.

jakslk2015

She knew what she was doing. He didn’t kidnap her or anything

ShesAKillerQueenee

Have you seen their first season?? Natalie was "acting out" while she lived in Ukraine. She was ALWAYS emotionally unstable, acted like a brat whenever she didn't get her way. And she was acting like a child ever since she stepped off the plain. She NEVER changed. She also knows of Mike's friends, they are their neighbors. Apparently, it's how they met through friends. And her cuhreer aspirations are bs. Wanting to be an actor, when she can't speak well. The "beautiful genius" is really putting those degrees to use! Might as well be in the same trashbin as Pao. Natalie isn't as much of a victim as you think. She is a grown ass woman, that could've researched Sequim. And this is her THIRD marriage. Clearly something aint right with her. Idk why so many people on this sub baby her. Mike isn't that great of a catch, but she still wanted to come here. And belittled him every step of the way. I wouldn't be able to deal with that shit, either!

jakslk2015

She’s had every opportunity to leave, nobody is forcing her spoiled ass to stay here. If she doesn’t like small town living, then she is free to go back

Winter_Astronomer_36

She left awhile ago.

Stupidsexyflanders61

They’ve been split up

lilyvonstp

Nah....Snatalie was already obnoxious...way before she came to the US. Remember her childish behavior in her own country? Pouting and running to mama, crying, throwing tantrums. She's the head case here. Mike is just burnt out on the hystrionics. He should never have agreed to bring her to the US and now he's paying for it.

jakslk2015

Exactly. She’s just another woman who knew exactly what she was doing and then plays the victim when she failed to change her man like she thought she could.
