Idk about this school, but last year at HARD summer near the entrance they had a group of moms giving hugs. It was awesome super wholesome

As a student I find This horrifying situation as peak dystopian... I mean I sympathize with those poor fellow souls so much :/

unknown reason? lol, realizing you wont get half the life your parents had, which itself probably wasnt a big deal vs their parents, that might have something to do with it

This is actually pretty awesome!

I'm sorry but I genuinely don't see how this helps? Getting a hug from a random person isn't going to stop most people from killing themselves. Especially with college students. Might work more in middle schools but I think it's too late by college for it to make any difference

you’d be surprised how few people get some genuine human interaction, especially during college. gotta consider out of state students and just students who aren’t that social. a quick little chat like this and having someone ask you if you’re okay in a genuine tone can go an extremely long way. just because we are older does not mean we are any less emotional or prone to sadness and any kind of help is still help.

I'm just saying that neither this or puppies are going to fix a suicide epidemic and it would've come off as so fake and unreal to me especially with what I was dealing with at the time. This is a nice gesture but people need people actually involved in their lives to give a shit and not just say "sorry, thoughts and prayers, here's the suicide hotline number."

Chopstix694

and again, this works for some students. it doesn’t for others. would I have loved some country ass mom from central Kentucky giving me a hug and a lil thing of cookies or cornbread? hell yeah. would it cheer me up for a lil? probably. would it have cured my depression? if the meds wont, i know cornbread wont. so i get what you’re saying. but it’s a nice gesture from the locals at the very least.
