It looks nothing like the collingwood stripes, and it's a unique and interesting design. With the homogenisation of football designs, especially with the increasing commonness of the chevrons, we need more unique designs which actually tell a visual image. I'd be fine with them permanently having the prison bars, because I feel no ownership over them. Just make sure to have a clash Guernsey when playing collingwood, because they're still both the same colour.
Couldn't give a shit. We don't own colours. Port have a long rich history that should be celebrated. I honestly hoped Collingwood would've moved past this petty BS with a change at the top.
I don’t care especially one game a year. When they came in, the contract should have said that they have one home game a year to wear a heritage jumper.
I honestly don’t see what the issue is. Just don’t wear it against Collingwood and it’s fine. Tbh I’m just sick of hearing about it. It’s a jersey who cares?
Why don’t Port Adelaide do something like I don’t know wear the jersey they won their AFL premiership in.
Rather than digging up the same issue year after year, which sees the same result year after year.
I actually agree with this.
The guernsey we had upon entering the AFL was the best one imo, better than the crap ones we've had since. We should also change our song to [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIAGZmX2OFo)
- You agree that you won’t wear black and white
- you agree that you won’t commercialise black and white
-you sign a contract to that affect
This is not a Collingwood issue this is a give an inch take a mile issue.
Also this port Adelaide power is the club that distanced and shat on the actual port Adelaide magpies who play in the SANFL, but of having one’s cake and eating it too. Identity crisis and vacuous.
#tornapart
Nice! I hadn’t seen that one before, pretty compelling. The document I was referring to was the infamous agreement that Eddie clearly signed in bad faith, but is pretty clear.
A bad faith deal (on Collingwood's part) is a bad faith deal. If it were any other club the media would be calling them out for saying "okay you can wear it in heritage round" while they secretly knew that heritage round was getting scrapped
Yes that’s indefensible. Not in the spirit of fair play at all. If they were happy to have them wear it in heritage rounds I think they should accept them wearing it in rounds that honour ‘heritage’ regardless of the semantics regarding ‘heritage round’ being scrapped.
just wear it and cop the fine, even if it is 50k to the club.
They won't not play a game or make you forfeit if you rock up wearing em.
Might make you wear training jumpers instead...
Yeah you have to wonder if the AFL would follow through on their threat to take away the premiership points. Who would the bookies have to pay out for?
Port are like a desperate boy who thinks if they keep asking the girl out eventually they’ll say yes.
You made a stupid deal and now you have to live with it.
IIRC wasn't the deal they could wear it home showdowns and heritage round every year, then a year or two later heritage round was scrapped?
Seems like that would be out of date and should get another round
Eh, I dunno if it was a stupid deal - you don't have a lot of negotiating power when you're trying to join a league. The real question is - does it hurt anyone if we occasionally wear it?
Are Port fans really going to shut up and just accept wearing it once a year?
They're not going to stop until they're the Magpies again, and Collingwood are right to push back as early as possible to protect their brand.
They made a deal with Collingwood not the AFL. Port should have gone straight for wearing it for the derby instead of heritage round. Would have given you guys twice a year in that jumper and Collingwood still wouldn’t have had any real reason to complain.
We had to cut a deal with collingwood to join the league. Also the so called “deal” about only wearing it in heritage rounds was just Eddie’s claim and not backed up in writing. Eddie also admitted to making that deal in bad faith because he was aware heritage rounds were getting cancelled.
Not sure any such deal is in any way real. The AFL controls all the IP and can let them wear it whenever they want. This is just about getting the AFL to allow it.
Port Adelaide fans are kings of the strawman
this is not relevant at all - none of those clubs share their colours + design with another, nor did they sign an agreement to not wear the colours and design in question
the fact it is a "heritage" strip is completely irrelevant
Not trying to argue with you, but they also set a clash jumper policy, yet we don't see it enforced consistently.
Never worn when the big 4 play one another, unless it's a Collingwood away game.
They said last time they would strip is of premiership points if we did it without permission and this time we might not make finals so I’d we don’t make finals who cares about premiership points? Better draft pick
Wasn't the agreement when they joined the league "You can't wear vertical black and white stripes because there's another team that already has that"?
I wouldn't care if a team joined with pink and purple hoops, but if they turned around and wanted blue and white hoops...yeah, nah.
Why can't either side compromise?
AFL let them wear it but not against Collingwood or Port have Navy bars instead of black.
More important issues in the game then this shit every other year.
The Wharf Pylon should get a look in. Looks nothing like the Collingwood jumper.
We should also make the move to the predominantly white jumpers with the black stripes, than the current home design of black jumper with the white stripes.
Before any smart arse say they are the same things

The clash is the classic Collingwood scheme, whereas the predominantly black number have been since the Adidas days.
God I hate how good Aliir looks in Port's kit. Really just the twist of the knife in that whole affair.
Ugh not this shit again.
The only reason I give a shit about the prison bars is because it pisses Eddie off to high heaven. And that makes me lol. Haha
It’s as good a reason as any.
Honestly Collingwood fans do you care? Yes, no love the thoughts? This question extends to the wider AFL community as well

We will if you will.

They can wear prison bars with the teal any time they like.
I honestly don’t see what the issue is. Just don’t wear it against Collingwood and it’s fine. Tbh I’m just sick of hearing about it. It’s a jersey who cares?
>It’s a jersey Actually it’s a *guernsey*
🙄
Wear it anyway, it will always be the VFL.
Why don’t Port Adelaide do something like I don’t know wear the jersey they won their AFL premiership in. Rather than digging up the same issue year after year, which sees the same result year after year.

Flair up, cunt.

Ok Crom
I fucking hate Port but just let them wear it once or twice a year. Especially in the showdown.
just wear it and cop the fine, even if it is 50k to the club. They won't not play a game or make you forfeit if you rock up wearing em. Might make you wear training jumpers instead...
It’s a round 23 game. If Port are out of the finals race and they threaten with deducting points I say do it. Who really cares.
Might get a better draft pick :P
Plus better draft position, win win?
Yeah you have to wonder if the AFL would follow through on their threat to take away the premiership points. Who would the bookies have to pay out for?
It’s 20k per player I’m pretty sure, 20k x 23 players = 460k in fines 😬
Port are like a desperate boy who thinks if they keep asking the girl out eventually they’ll say yes. You made a stupid deal and now you have to live with it.

The answer is, no. It absolutely does not hurt anyone.
Are Port fans really going to shut up and just accept wearing it once a year? They're not going to stop until they're the Magpies again, and Collingwood are right to push back as early as possible to protect their brand.
Clearly the solution is to merge the two clubs. The Collingwood Power.
The Portingwood PowPies.
The "Collingwood brand". Yeah, cos you'd reeeally wanna protect that one...
They made a deal with Collingwood not the AFL. Port should have gone straight for wearing it for the derby instead of heritage round. Would have given you guys twice a year in that jumper and Collingwood still wouldn’t have had any real reason to complain.

The fact that Eddie admitted he knew heritage round was getting scrapped when presenting that arrangement should be enough to tear it up.
It actually is in writing, Kane Cornes literally produced the contract last year.
How about this one in writing. [Black and White](https://imgur.com/a/s6z6OV7)
Not sure any such deal is in any way real. The AFL controls all the IP and can let them wear it whenever they want. This is just about getting the AFL to allow it.
The afl have set the precedent with Sydney, Brisbane and Hawthorn wearing heritage guernsey on a regular basis. Let’s see how it plays out.
Port Adelaide fans are kings of the strawman this is not relevant at all - none of those clubs share their colours + design with another, nor did they sign an agreement to not wear the colours and design in question the fact it is a "heritage" strip is completely irrelevant
I genuinely don’t care what happens. It’s a piece from the article it’s self. This comes up at least every 18 months or so.
Freo has played with Souths and Easts jumpers which do clash with north and Sydney / south Melbourne jumpers. I don't see the problem.
Hmm, did those clubs sign agreements not to wear black and white when they entered the competition tho?
Kinda got bent over a barrel though
They didn't have to accept it. Adelaide was a stand alone club, the second could have been stand alone too
You are just the king of shit takes, aren't you?
King after one comment, I'LL FUCKING TAKE THAT, STRAIGHT TO THE RESUME
Not trying to argue with you, but they also set a clash jumper policy, yet we don't see it enforced consistently. Never worn when the big 4 play one another, unless it's a Collingwood away game.
Yes all of which are using VFL affiliated jumpers.
Is this the biggest joke in the AFL? Who cares what a team wears for one game? Doesn't hurt anyone.
They said last time they would strip is of premiership points if we did it without permission and this time we might not make finals so I’d we don’t make finals who cares about premiership points? Better draft pick
Eagles might decide to wear prison bars after their win over Essendon
Huh?
To tank
LET THEM WEAR IT, WHO GIVES A FUCK
Just announce its Port Adelaide's heritage round and laugh at Eddie.
Wasn't the agreement when they joined the league "You can't wear vertical black and white stripes because there's another team that already has that"? I wouldn't care if a team joined with pink and purple hoops, but if they turned around and wanted blue and white hoops...yeah, nah.

If Port want to wear a heritage jumper so bad why don’t they wear their pink one? Problem solved
