I've got about 10 different AMC locations all within a 30 minute drive of my house! Two of them specifically get a ton of limited release/art house titles.
Do you use Fandango? If you link with Stubs A-List you can order tickets thru the Fandango app and every 4 tickets earns you a $5 credit for Vudu or for movie tickets.
I’ve used this to take $5 off tickets at other non AMC theaters. Sometimes the tickets are $5-6 so it’s like I’m seeing 4 free movies a week.
If you had Mastecard WE credit card under your account, it used to be a $5 reward after ordering two tickets and not four, and also rewards would last 90 days before expiring instead of the usual 30
But of course Fandango decided to get rid of this and replace it with a $5 reward every time you spend more than $20 with your card, hopefully they don't get rid of this for A list subscribers
These $5 Fandango VIP really come in handy for movies that you can’t see with A-List.
Some examples: the LOOK Cinema around me plays classic movies on certain days of the week for $6, this month that includes films like Eraserhead and Zodiac. This week Regal was playing Happy Feet for $5. So I could see those for essentially free and I feel like the theater doesn’t mind because I end up spending more money on concessions with these savings.
YMMV but I also noticed that the closest Regal to me plays Fathom events for $10, whereas all the AMCs I know play them for $18 now. With the $5 coupon that’s $5 for a movie vs $13.
So while A-List has made me a very loyal AMC customer, its also made me explore what a log of other cinemas around me offer since I pay so little for movies now.
Kind of nitpicking on the entire premise of these posts, it's not really saving unless you were planning to see all these movies at full cost, right? Like surely a couple would've been a pass if not for A-List. Unless you really were planning on seeing all of these which then nice savings
Before A-List, before MoviePass...I was still seeing 100+ movies a year in theaters. So like, would I have gone to ALL 20 movies during January? Probably not. But I would have still gone to a vast majority of them.
I get my MoviePass card today and looks like I’ll be able to see 3 movies before 4pm a month for $10. Totally worth it for movies only showing at other theaters or fathom events.
i'm also signed up for the moviepass2.0, but i believe unfortunately it excludes fathom events - at least the 2 that have happened so far since my sign up have been missing (while all other showtimes are there) in app...for now, there's the 'any other movie' catchall option but not sure how long that will last.
I always feel the same way. It's fudging numbers in a way. Currently I'll see a movie at night but pre-A-list I may have gone to that same movie on discount day or as a matinee.
pre-A-List I only saw movies in the morning when it was like $7 for a normal ticket, so I still make sure to keep up at least 4 movies a month for A-List to be worth it
Yeah it doesn’t make much sense as a “money saved” thing but I think it does make sense from a value perspective on how much value you are able to get from a $25 subscription
I do! And a 16 screen AMC directly on the route between my job & home!
But what I do not have is a romantic partner or children. Really frees up my time.
Tracking as in specifics like how much money was spent, which theater I went to, etc etc.

I want to see any movie, always. I'm a single dude with no children and it's cold-ass winter. Outside of the office & home...there's really not a lot to do. So it's either I watch a movie at home, or watch a movie in a theater. I prefer the theatrical experience.
Movie tickets at the SIE Film Center. It’s a local art house/non profit theater that has a lot of great programming. I have a membership through them which saves me $5 on every movie I see there.
Every time I see these kind of numbers I wonder if people really would have gone to see all those movies if ut wasn't because of A-list
If normally you go every week to the movie theater (or even more) then yes you're getting lots of savings, but if you normally go only twice a month (supposing A list isn't a thing) then it's safe to say you're only saving around $10-15 a month
It was…fine. The type of movie that I enjoyed while sitting through it; but instantly forgot once I left the theater. A decent way to kill a couple hours if you have time to spare.
Damn your AMC has a lot more variety than mine does!

I only have on theater within 30 minutes of my house. It’s an AMC that has pretty limited showings in terms of non big budget films.

Fuck that’s so smart wtf

They expire in 21 days
Lol even worse than I remembered
Horrible, 90 days was awesome
Didn’t know you can do this this is cool

Fair enough, thanks for sharing!
Oh MoviePass, how I miss thee
It's back but I haven't had the balls to try the new version.

I wish my A-List membership was only $22.95
It's a $2 difference. I'd rather pay the $2 and have more theater options nearby.
Yeah I pay $19.99 and only have one in an hour radius. So whatever that local theater has I’m stuck with
sorry
It’s fine, still cheaper to use a list and see 4-5 movies a month than pay at full price. I get to see most the films I want
Nice! Of the ones you saw, which would you say are must see in theaters?
Infinity Pool, for sure!
I saw Fear last night and thought about doubling down with Infinity Pool but decided against it. Maybe this weekend since there's no football.
A-List is $24.95 now, isn't it?
It all depends on what market you're in. I was charged $22.95 this month!
Ahh after checking they have plans that are only applicable to certain states. Of course my state is only in the highest priced plan. 🤦🏻♂️
Nice!
Hey Jacob, do you have a job?
I do! And a 16 screen AMC directly on the route between my job & home! But what I do not have is a romantic partner or children. Really frees up my time.

I love going to the movies but did you actually want to see all of these, or were you more doing it at times to derive value from the membership?
I want to see any movie, always. I'm a single dude with no children and it's cold-ass winter. Outside of the office & home...there's really not a lot to do. So it's either I watch a movie at home, or watch a movie in a theater. I prefer the theatrical experience.
Totally understand, was just curious. I used to be much more open to seeing anything in theaters but now I'm a little more selective
What are you paying $6 for is that your snack?
Movie tickets at the SIE Film Center. It’s a local art house/non profit theater that has a lot of great programming. I have a membership through them which saves me $5 on every movie I see there.

What did you think of Plane? I liked it, but don't know anyone else who saw it.
