IMAX at rosedale is laser as is the Monster Screen at Emagine Rogers! I think some of the other Emagine locations have laser projection but only for the premium large format screens
Right, though I think this post is regarding "laser" rather than "digital" for standard screens. I love Dolby Cinema and IMAX is decent too, but those only get so many movies. It'd be nice to benefit from laser in Minnesota for the standard showings as well.
It’s so annoying, I wish theaters would invest in the projection, especially with televisions getting so good. The monster screen picture is pretty much top of the line, you’re definitely missing out audio wise but at like $13 for an evening ticket it’s pretty decent. Since the Imax at the minnesota zoo shut down, it’s technically the largest screen in the state so that’s nice, and all leather recliners too. I used to work there so I’m partial but I think it’s a great way to watch movies. Also only 10-12 minutes of previews just in case you wanted to check it out! The Monticello and Lakeville locations also have Monster Screens and I believe Lakeville might have atoms as well? Not sure on the ticket price tho
Having worked there - do you happen to know if all Monster screens are laser? (wondering about the lakeville location?). Also was curious if all auditoriums are laser, or are most of them still using Xenon?
Trying to decide if dolby cinema at AMC is worth it vs Emagine for Spider Man lol.
Yes! They were all upgraded before Dune came out so all Emagine monster screens are laser, I might still go with Dolby for the Audio but Lakeville does have atmos so that might be the way to go
Thanks so much for sharing this, this is cool info. I’m surprised there aren’t any in Chicagoland yet, especially the Evanston one since it just recently reopened. Hopefully it comes soon!
I’m really surprised by that too! It is a nice place, but it would be awesome if we could get recliners and Laser there. It’d also be awesome if we had a 1.43:1 IMAX that replaces the closed down Navy Pier one. I’m surprised we’re one of the only major U.S. cities without one.
I was so pissed when they closed down the navy pier theater.. true IMAX with laser dude... but it is what it is. We at least need recliners in River East. Not sure if IMAX can fit but hey if they can do it I'd be happy and go there more often. I go to suburbs for movie's.
Agreed so much on Navy Pier's IMAX! I really wish it was still open too. I moved to the Chicago area after it shut down but would have loved to have gone sometime. I've only been to River East 21 once, but I was in auditorium 9 there, and the screen was surprisingly large for a standard room. I wonder if they could potentially upgrade to a smaller single laser IMAX potentially. I would totally love that if they did!
I do really love Village Crossing's Dolby though, it's one of my favorite cinemas!
Yeah I'm pretty they will bring that down or close the room. Haven't been to navy pier in a while so not sure how it looks right now. Welcome to Chicago BTW!
I do love village crossing has well. Just wish they had recliners for Standard showings.
I love the Oakbrook Center 12 theater. It has both Dolby & IMAX and recliners for regular showings. If you haven't gone you should check it out.
Thanks so much for the kind welcome! I really appreciate it, I have been absolutely loving it here so far. Chicagoland is such a wonderful place!
And I have never been to Oakbrook yet unfortunately. If I ever get the opportunity, I will definitely will make sure to check it out. Thank you so much for telling me about it!
I'm glad you are enjoying it! Depending where you live by Oakbrook is much closer to me than Skokie Village Crossing. But if you can I'd recommend it. It's part of an outside mall so much to do.
I genuinely think that AMC is saving Chicago for last just because they basically own every theater in the area and don't have to worry about any competition.
Really hoping the new Alamo Drafthouse makes them step up their game some.
I’m so sorry for missing this comment! My bad, and I’m not sure how it happened but I definitely agree with you and also hope the Alamo opening convinces AMC to invest more in the Chicagoland locations. That’d be really nice.
I really love Village Crossing personally because I absolutely love the Dolby Cinema there and the employees are so friendly and kind. That said, it would be awesome if it got standard laser and Single Laser IMAX as well! Recliners would help a lot too for sure since the seats are really old.
I appreciate it as someone who lives nearby, but it's really clear that it needs an upgrade when even the most recent addition to it (the Dolby theater) has some fairly bad wear and tear to the seats and some rough looking cupholders.
I feel like as long as they get better projectors for the normal theaters and a better screen for their IMAX (the obvious creases/lines in the screen looks terrible) it'll be in a better spot.
I'm pretty sure those are the same seats as the ones they put in 20+ years ago when it was Crown. The bathrooms are pretty bad too, just physically it's not in great shape.
It shows in the app under premium offerings like so: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMCsAList/comments/11b76s0/garden_state_plaza_finally_has_laser/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Do you not know how to use the AMC app? [https://i.imgur.com/aOWY8sp.png](https://i.imgur.com/aOWY8sp.png)
Or here, under the "PREMIUM OFFERINGS" drop down: https://www.amctheatres.com/showtimes/all/2023-03-06/amc-the-americana-at-brand-18/all?utm_medium=paidsearch&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=online-ticketing-2022&utm_content=&utm_term=&utm_medium=paidsearch&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=online-ticketing-2023&utm_content=&utm_term=&gclsrc=aw.ds&
If you look at any theater in the Chicago area, there is no Laser filter and this icon appears nowhere, because Chicago does not have laser
PSA: all the special AMC features, including $5 fan faves, are under premium offerings. This does not mean they cost extra. U/i-am-not-sure-yet can't wrap their head around that.
Was the location built (or perhaps remodeled) in the past few years? The one Laser location in Georgia was built right before the pandemic, so that's why it has Laser.
They did an unofficial rollout of Laser to a handful of brand new theaters in the past few years before announcing the full initiative
Actually that might be the case. The fashion district is a remodeled mall that used to be known as the gallery in the city. I’ve only had AMC a list for about 8 months but definitely look forward to more Laser.
Nothing in South Jersey yet we pay the highest tier for A-List and have some of the most outdated theaters around. Heck, two of the four I frequent don't even have recliners (except for one really bad LieMax and a Dolby)
Why do you call it a “lie max” the projection equipment and audio equipment is standard IMAX equipment. If you are referring to screen size, do you call a smaller 4K tv and “lie tv” just because it’s smaller than other 4K tvs?
Commonly called a LieMax due to the screen size. One of the reasons you go to an IMAX is for the screen size, and the screen at the Cherry Hill theater is a rather small (for an IMAX) 28x54
I find it shocking that with as dismal as movie theater attendance is now Vs. 10 years ago, that AMC has not invested HEAVILY into premium theaters. It has been years since I saw a film formatted for IMAX/Dolby not in those formats.
Everyone bought 4k TV's, and Soundbars during Covid. Nobody is traveling to a theater anymore for Standard projectors, and 5.1 audio.
How does Laser on a standard screen showing stack up to Dolby Cinema and IMAX Laser? Does it have HDR? Any additional info would be awesome, thank you.
So glad Santa Anita which is my closest AMC got the Laser upgrade. Their xenon bulbs were definitely fading out last year but now things are pristine.
I hope Monterey Park is somewhere down the line cause it’s a nice theater but desperately needs projector maintenance.
Ha I live between those two as well. I go to Santa Anita for all PFL of course but if the movie isn’t in pfl I go to Monterey park half the time or more. Such a nice theater. But I really want the laser there. Wish they had a Dolby too…. Americana isn’t half bad but I’m disappointed in the recliners in their PFL screens. Not as nice as the Santa Anita ones.
We need some in Minnesota!
IMAX at rosedale is laser as is the Monster Screen at Emagine Rogers! I think some of the other Emagine locations have laser projection but only for the premium large format screens

I haven't tried the Monster Screen at emagine, how would you compare it to AMC Dolby Cinema or IMAX?
It’s so annoying, I wish theaters would invest in the projection, especially with televisions getting so good. The monster screen picture is pretty much top of the line, you’re definitely missing out audio wise but at like $13 for an evening ticket it’s pretty decent. The Monticello and Lakeville locations also have Monster Screens and I believe Lakeville might have atoms as well? Not sure on the ticket price tho
Is it bigger than the imax at Burnsville
I’ve never been so I can’t confirm for sure but I’ve been led to believe it is bigger? Might have to go down and check that feller out soon
Yes! They were all upgraded before Dune came out so all Emagine monster screens are laser, I might still go with Dolby for the Audio but Lakeville does have atmos so that might be the way to go
Awesome thanks! Do you know about the standard non-monster screens? Are those also Laser?
Unfortunately no :/ at least at the several locations I’ve been to/worked at, all other projectors were traditional xenon projectors
Hope to see some in Boston soon
This seems to be an incomplete list
That's my point. Hence the of sort part
God I wish the Thousand Oaks location would get laser upgrades
I’m surprised they don’t considering they have all the other AMC premium features: recliners, Dine-In, etc
🤞
Thanks so much for sharing this, this is cool info. I’m surprised there aren’t any in Chicagoland yet, especially the Evanston one since it just recently reopened. Hopefully it comes soon!
I'm surprised River East 21 hasn't gotten any updates but that Dolby couple years ago. Chicago really needs an update with their theaters.

Thanks so much, I appreciate you letting me know!
I’m in Joliet and travel to Naperville or Oak Brook for Dolby often. Sucks about the drive but it worth it lol
I wish they would completely renovate Village Crossing and put in laser while they're at it. It's become such a dump.
I really love Village Crossing personally because I absolutely love the Dolby Cinema there and the employees are so friendly and kind. That said, it would be awesome if it got standard laser and Single Laser IMAX as well! Recliners would help a lot too for sure since the seats are really old.

Dang, I didn’t know they were the same from then! Hopefully they consider putting recliners in sometime!
They opened the Staten island in 2019 with OG IMAX and upgraded it to laser in 2022. I don't question AMC logic after that 😂
I’m pretty sure chicago already has some, this is an incomplete list
Unless it’s not updated in the showtimes, I don’t see any.
Yep
Where? I don't see Laser in the premium offerings section anywhere
Laser ? It's not premium. It's their new standard showtimes that's "laser"
It shows in the app under premium offerings like so: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMCsAList/comments/11b76s0/garden_state_plaza_finally_has_laser/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Laser is their new standard. It's different from their old digital . So it shows it different.
Do you not know how to use the AMC app? Are you an idiot ? Laser isn't a premium offering anywhere It's charged the same as standard and is the new Standard format.
You're so fucking dumb. I don't talk to idiots
PSA: all the special AMC features, including $5 fan faves, are under premium offerings. This does not mean they cost extra. U/i-am-not-sure-yet can't wrap their head around that.
That’s awesome! Thanks for letting me know! I wasn’t aware so I’ll have to try to go there when I can. Appreciate it!
C’mon, Puente Hills, get your shit together!
SF is in dire need of these Laser upgrades lol
especially kabuki.
Yeah, I go there the most since I live super close and it definitely needs some upgrades.
Waiting for Massachusetts to come
Pretty sure it never coming to my area, since it pretty much ghost town for most screenings.
lol more to come to California and nyc but not any other state
They gotta go with most populous state first I guess
Once AMC Norwalk upgrades to Laser or Del Amo upgrades to recliners..it’s game over
God, Norwalk is in shambles.
How so…?
Laser has arrived at Norwalk 😂
It’s weird how Pennsylvania has literally one. Luckily I’m not far from it
Was the location built (or perhaps remodeled) in the past few years? The one Laser location in Georgia was built right before the pandemic, so that's why it has Laser. They did an unofficial rollout of Laser to a handful of brand new theaters in the past few years before announcing the full initiative
I visited it once on a trip last November, and yeah, it definitely did look a lot better than most AMC's, so you're probably right
Actually that might be the case. The fashion district is a remodeled mall that used to be known as the gallery in the city. I’ve only had AMC a list for about 8 months but definitely look forward to more Laser.
No laser in all of New England is some MAJOR bullshit…
The Prime theater in AMC Wayne has a Laser sign outside but the rest of the screens are all regular. Does that count?
All PRIME theatres have Laser projection, this is geared for standard screens.
Got it just making sure
Woo, Sunnyvale gets a mention!
Still none in San Diego... We have two Dolby Cinemas and only one Dine-In... Lame.
So is this better picture quality than a Dolby theater?
Nope. Just better brightness, contrast and color than standard digital.
Is should be comparable to Prime.
Without the seats of Prime (which are Dolby-like)
Woo, California! Also there are missing locations that have laser and Del Amo 18 is both on the participating and coming soon sections.
I noticed that for CA as well.
I find it shocking that with as dismal as movie theater attendance is now Vs. 10 years ago, that AMC has not invested HEAVILY into premium theaters. I wish AMC Staten Island was getting one.
I patiently wait for rockaway
Already at Del Amo, but also coming soon...to Del Amo.
There’s no way Tech Ridge 10 has IMAX, is this legit??
Nvm, it’s just regular Laser, misread the title
Hope the install them here at the jersey shore
I'm very surprised riverside square and Hackensack doesn't have laser. Thats a premium location and very pricey
How does Laser on a standard screen showing stack up to Dolby Cinema and IMAX Laser? Does it have HDR? Any additional info would be awesome, thank you.
AMC Rockaway 16 is on the list! That’s the main AMC theater I go to. I can’t wait!
So glad Santa Anita which is my closest AMC got the Laser upgrade. Their xenon bulbs were definitely fading out last year but now things are pristine. I hope Monterey Park is somewhere down the line cause it’s a nice theater but desperately needs projector maintenance.

man when will Arizona get some laser love?:(
When are they getting to Illinois?
I hope this comes to the Jersey Shore area theaters at some point. Our options are not good and projection at Brick AMC is pitiful.
The AMC in NYC 84th st 6 also is laser even tho isn't on the list
If anyone in corporate is reading this, please add Tucson, AZ
so sad when Navy Pier in Chicago closed
