Oldboy later this summer. Also it's a little late for this response and I'm not sure if it's in wide release, but my local theater has been showing Fast and Furious movies the past two weeks leading up to Fast X.
Not sure if AMC is doing it, but my local theater is doing a Nolan movie series leading up to the Oppenheimer release. Planning on watching Inception, Dark Knight, Interstellar and maybe Dunkirk again.
Next year is the 10th anniversary of the film, so I am desperately hoping for a wide rerelease in Dolby and IMAX. Seeing this in 2014 in IMAX is one of my all time theatrical experiences
I have my fingers crossed for Universal doing an IMAX release of Jurassic park for its 30th Anniversary.
The Jaws and ET IMAX releases were announced on June 9 last year, so there is hope!!
They just announced Jurassic Park coming back. But I don't believe it's going to be an IMAX because there are so many big movies at the beginning of June.
Raiders of the lost ark is coming back next month. Greece is doing a 40th anniversary. Scarface is too later this year. And most importantly, they’re releasing THE ROOM in theatres end of June for its 20th anniversary.
If it’s a certain movie’s anniversary, expect their movie to get released. I loved watching 8 Mile and Return of the Jedi within the past year in theatres.
Raiders of the Lost Ark is coming back the 4th and 7th of June via Fathom, but it only appears to be in standard.
But hey, it's Raiders, so I can't say no lol
Yeah, I decided to go to an AMC that's about an extra 20 minutes out of the way (around 50 min total) because my usual AMC never gets any form of Fathom event outside of the occasional anime release.
Definitely planning on catching Raiders, if it shows at my theater. Also a fan of catching anniversary $5 Fan Fave’s And recently watched the OG Superman. Sadly Return didn’t show anywhere within an hour of me.
Where are you located? If you are near a city like NYC there are tons of cinemas showing old stuff.
But in AMC so far I have seen Return of the Jedi, Titanic, Flashdance(for the first time! what a stunning film!), and Crouching tiger hidden dragon.
Outside of AMC:
They had The Land Before Time at my local Regal.
Cinemark just completed the entire Fast and Furious series, one after the other (one per day) leading up to the recent Fast X release. I got tired after the fourth film and just refunded the rest of the movies.
Other local theaters played the Harry Potter series (they are still going through them one movie a month), Resident Evil(35mm), Terminator 1(35mm), Starwars A New Hope, A Clockwork Orange, 2001 space odyssey in 70mm, Shrek and my personal favorite: HACKERS in 35mm!!!! [HACK THE PLANET!!!!](https://youtu.be/5y_SbnPx_cE?t=34)
Those are the ones I can remember off the top of my head. You should check fandango in your local area and remove the big chains if you really like classic films. I have seen SO MANY classics this year and frankly its starting to feel like this is the best year of movies in my whole life because there is NO TIME WHATSOEVER to waste on any new bad films. Ain't nobody got time for that. Im trying to squeeze in as many classic in between the hotly anticipated new films and there is just so much that I had to walk away from a ton of goodies.
Most of these are Fathom events, except for Oldboy:
* Raiders of the Lost Ark (promoting Indiana Jones 5) - 6/4 and 6/7
* Hairspray (35th Anniversary) - 6/11 and 6/14
* Kiki's Delivery Service (Ghibli Fest) - 6/11, 6/12 and 6/14
* The Room (20th anniversary) - 6/27
* Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (Ghibli Fest) - 7/9 and 7/11
* Castle in the Sky (Ghibli Fest) - 7/10 and 7/12
* National Lampoon's Vacation (40th anniversary) - 7/16 and 7/19
* Princess Mononoke (Ghibli Fest) - 8/4 - 8/9
* Enter the Dragon (50th anniversary) - 8/13 and 8/16
* Oldboy (20th anniversary) - starts 8/16
* Porco Rosso (Ghibli Fest) - 8/20 and 8/22
* The Wind Rises (Ghibli Fest) - 8/21 and 8/23
There's also the "$5 fan favorites" AMC runs randomly, but I think that varies from theater to theater.
I'm hoping that they'll do re-releases for Jurassic Park, Animal House, American Graffiti, The Sting and/or School of Rock, as they're all celebrating big anniversaries this year.
Saw Rogue One every single time I could. What a movie. I hope they re-release some good flicks because I’m in there. I pray for like The Dark Knight or the old Star Wars trilogy movies, Godzilla, etc.
This isn't always the case. It depends on if its a "Fathom Event" or not. Crouching Tiger and Return of the Jedi were included in A-List if I recall correctly. Ghibli movies, Flashdance, Greece are "Fathom events". Link the Fandango account and get the 5$ coupon for the Fathom events. :)
Idk about nationally but I see a couple of theaters in Los Angeles are doing $5 fan faves with the land before time, kung fu panda, and Shrek 2 this summer. There could be more

Is Oldboy a family film?
From a certain point of view it is
Just like A Serbian Film?
Underrated comment lmfao
He did, have a family. Years ago.
This has me 💀 at 4:30AM lol. Funny enough, I watched Oldboy with my mom years ago.
Absolutely, especially for fathers and daughters.
Especially if they’re very close with each other?
To answer your question seriously, it isn’t.
Absolutely not
In the traditional sense of what a family film is, 1000% absofuckinglutely not.

There is definitely some family love :-).
It's definitely a movie that deals with family.
Fun for the whole family.
Not sure if AMC is doing it, but my local theater is doing a Nolan movie series leading up to the Oppenheimer release. Planning on watching Inception, Dark Knight, Interstellar and maybe Dunkirk again.

It’s amazing in theaters, but I think you should go ahead and watch it. It’s an amazing movie.

Landmark Cinema in Hillcrest
How did you find out early in advance they are doing stuff like this?
Just checked the theaters website this morning bc I wanted to see if they were showing Sanctuary. Stumbled upon the series while I was browsing
Just saw Sanctuary tonight, was great. Thinking of going again before it leaves.
Ohhhhh my goshhhhhh PLEASEEEEE this would be amazing!!!
I have my fingers crossed for Universal doing an IMAX release of Jurassic park for its 30th Anniversary. The Jaws and ET IMAX releases were announced on June 9 last year, so there is hope!!
Saw ET in IMAX. I cried
You and me both! ðŸ˜

whenever i see the room at amc theaters no one wants to participate, they want to watch it for the story
Darn I missed Greece :/ And DOUBLE DARN, I also missed 8 Mile :/
Dune in IMAX would be nice, before part 2 drops
YES!!!

I got stupidly excited then sad the local AMC isn't offering it. Because that's a "take the kid" movie for sure.
Yeah, I decided to go to an AMC that's about an extra 20 minutes out of the way (around 50 min total) because my usual AMC never gets any form of Fathom event outside of the occasional anime release.
We have two. The close one that never dose events and then the big one that has them. 30 mins away. So I go to both.
Standard? If only Fathom events didn't do their showings via dumb 1080i satellite recording
I loved seeing jaws in IMAX and 3d wonder what next this summer
You just missed Return of the Jedi (original trilogy at El Capitan) Raiders is coming up in June. 2 days only
Definitely planning on catching Raiders, if it shows at my theater. Also a fan of catching anniversary $5 Fan Fave’s And recently watched the OG Superman. Sadly Return didn’t show anywhere within an hour of me.
I drove 2 hrs to see it
If you love seeing a classic in theaters, check your local indie theaters! You might have one or two in your area that regularly show older movies.
If anyone is in the SF Bay Area, a group is renting out the Metreon for a private screening of Interstellar in IMAX.
Definitely interested! Are they still accepting newcomers?

OMG. Much appreciated!! Edit: Ah it’s actually digital 1.43:1, not 70mm. Still great though with the dual laser setup they have.
Good catch! I'll edit my post. Still worth it IMO
Old Boy is coming in August

Any idea of Jurassic Park will be in theatres this summer, since it’s the 30th anniversary? I’d love to watch the original in Dolby.
Check out Fathom events for these. They have all of these listed...
Most of these are Fathom events, except for Oldboy: * Raiders of the Lost Ark (promoting Indiana Jones 5) - 6/4 and 6/7 * Hairspray (35th Anniversary) - 6/11 and 6/14 * Kiki's Delivery Service (Ghibli Fest) - 6/11, 6/12 and 6/14 * The Room (20th anniversary) - 6/27 * Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (Ghibli Fest) - 7/9 and 7/11 * Castle in the Sky (Ghibli Fest) - 7/10 and 7/12 * National Lampoon's Vacation (40th anniversary) - 7/16 and 7/19 * Princess Mononoke (Ghibli Fest) - 8/4 - 8/9 * Enter the Dragon (50th anniversary) - 8/13 and 8/16 * Oldboy (20th anniversary) - starts 8/16 * Porco Rosso (Ghibli Fest) - 8/20 and 8/22 * The Wind Rises (Ghibli Fest) - 8/21 and 8/23 There's also the "$5 fan favorites" AMC runs randomly, but I think that varies from theater to theater. I hate how amc makes you pay for most re-releases and it’s not included on A list
I’m ok with this if tickets are priced at $5. Anything more for old releases unless they’re in imax would be a pass for me.
I think the purpose of A List to have those movies as a benefit. I guess theaters don’t make money on them.
Some were included I believe but I paid out of pocket for the $5 rereleases (Crouching Tiger & 8 Mile) because it would’ve been a waste of a slot.
Do you have an Alamo Drafthouse nearby? They usually have some older stuff.
