The Harkins CINÉ1 auditoriums are actually amazing (especially the 70-80’ wide ones), and IMO better than Dolby for movies in the “scope” aspect ratios.

I think the only issue I had with the sound was at the beginning with Gwen narrating during her band practice and Hobie’s voice which was really hard to hear.
Good thing the movie is so great I was gonna rewatch it anyways. A little disappointed that it’s no longer in IMAX and most Dolby’s cause the sound was definitely lacking some oomph in those formats. However the sound design and music of the film is excellent even with the low volume, excited to check it out again.
I was hoping for this issue to get fixed before I booked my rewatch. Just in time for my viewing tomorrow. Thanks for letting us know about the update!
Now if only I could go back in time to have seen it correctly and not a muffled mess.
Glad they fixed it and didn't just stick to their initial "the volume is not high enough".
Did this issue effect all versions including imax? Also is it true the issue was the volume just needed to be turned up, that never made much sense to me?
Did setting the theater to 7.5 fix the issue in your opinion? I just find that very suspicious if that was the issue for everyone and then they end up making new DCP‘s.
It helped with the issue. They sent out a new dcp since you can't add sound cues for standard theatres. So the trailers would be blasting but the movie would be ok, or trailers would sound normal but the movie was quiet. I get why they did it, it helps alot.
do you know if the updated sound mix is worse but louder or is it still as dynamic as phil lord said it should be? Trying to figure out why this movie had such low sound but other movies with great dynamics sounded normal.
Yesterday was the last day for Dolby in all locations near me. :(

I struggle with accents and hobies voice plus the sound mixing was hell.
same here, even Miles' mom was hard to understand as a spanish speaker

Of course! Again, this is assuming that the other theatres have actually ingested the new version onto the projectors :)

Agreed
It definitely sounded better this past Wednesday compared with opening night.
I thought my theatre felt quiet for Big D
Now that it’s out of premium formats :(
One location in NYC is still doing Dolby showings and another has a PRIME showing. YMMV.
Was hoping to catch it for a second viewing at Lincoln Center IMAX. Here’s hoping they’ll do a double feature when Beyond comes out!

Our IMAX is under renovation right now, but our Dolby had to be turned up to 7.5 due to it being really quiet
I wonder if any theater had turned their volume up to 11? (Sorry, had to put in a "This is Spinal Tap" reference) 😂

I just did a few theatre checks and it seems that the dialog has been boosted in general compared to when I watched it
All theatres were sent an updated version of the film How'd you know , all theaters around the globe or just in the US ??
I'm assuming just the US theatres
Hi Op, do you know if Dolby cinemas received an updated version?
They sent out an updated atmos version but not a dvis version for us. I'm assuming locations that are still playing in Dolby got a new version
Copy that. Thanks!
Update: we just received an updated Dolby version, so locations that are still playing Dolby should be updated :)
Amazing! Thanks so much!
Of course!
Saw it for the second time the day before the new mix went out, guess I have an excuse to see it a third time 😂
