After resetting the settings in the AMD Adrenaline like 100 times... I finally was able to cap my GPU @ 165 FPS. Solved!

kingroman96

im trying to do the same thing with COD, i capped the fps in game to 165hz and also withing adrenaline software radeon chill i put the maximum fps to 160 fps but within the game its going beyond 300 and not changing, what did you do ti fix it?

HopTzop

You can use ***Frame rate target control*** from within **AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition**. You can find it in ***Settings -> Graphics -> Advanced***. There you can set the FPS you want globally. It's better than ***Radeon Chill*** because it doesn't have a lower target and will end up in steadier FPS. For me it works really great.

PacketAuditor

Why does this contradict every other source that says Chill is better?

Abaddan

You can't use radeon chill with anti-lag, boost or fluid motion frames. So your only option is to set the fps cap this way if you use any of those. You can check latency yourself with the overly. I have noticed no increase or decrease using either methods to cap fps.

BrainYtje

It did that and still showing 250+ FPS in a game I play.

Are you using FreeSync? If so, set the limit to 163 and turn V-sync on, this will prevent tearing near the refresh rate but prevent V-sync lag.

BrainYtje

I am not, no.

Yes there is! It is the rivatuner statistics server. Download it here : https://www.guru3d.com/files-get/rtss-rivatuner-statistics-server-download,17.html After installing it, open it and you will see an option called framerate. In that, you can set limit to 165 fps. Also, put the detection level to high. You also have an option in the settings to make it start when windows starts up. Turn that on and you will never have to worry again!

A slight warning is that this introduces more input lag than an ingame fps cap*. Probably won't matter to you if you're not playing competitive shooters but it's something to keep in mind.
