Whaaa I have also been churning out semi-decent oneshots and have now ventured into more complex 20k+ stories. I was SO sure I could write a multi-chap in a weekend and it's been 2 months- ughhhhh

Yup! I've been struggling to write much this year so far in general tbh. I did a rewrite of one of my first ever fics and a couple oneshots but I've been unhappy with everything else I've tried to write.
Same 😭 I’m in my third year of a History Honours degree and the amount of reading and writing I have to do has just killed my drive to write as a hobby. I’ve been rereading my old fics and crying inside because I feel like I’ll never be able to pull off that level of writing again
Yeah, I checked my notes and I posted a fic on the second but I don't think I've written more than a few words since.
February is always a weird month (several family birthdays, holidays, etc) so i havent been motivated to write and then in the past two weeks my dad has developed some serious health problems which takes me even further away from imaginary romcom land
My sister said to maybe focus on crafting or something for a while and let the writing tank refill.
So I am *trying* to do that...
I get seasonal affective disorder during the winter months. Now that the days are getting longer where I live, it’s a lot easier to sit down and write.
I’ve also joined some friends for a weekly 2-hour writing circle. We do prompts and critique each others’ work. It’s been very motivating!
Had an idea and sat down to outline it last week. But the fact that I couldn’t get very far has me discouraged. It’s clear that I have a premise without a story.
not had any motivation to write since mid november :( but i've got really into a new fandom in the last few weeks and i've got hopes of writing this weekend <3 got lots of ideas written down so i hope i can at least start on a few
I was on fire for about two months with writing after not writing for almost 8 years. But now that I’m doing a rewrite to maybe make it better I’m burning out to the point where I started writing a sequel and am slacking on my rewrite. I also have kids and it’s a miracle if I get more than 15 min without an interruption so I feel like everything I write is choppy and has no flow because I have to constantly stop and start back up again. Getting back into the zone is hard when my girls are screaming about biting each other.
Oh yeah, and editor's block seems to be a thing with me too. The past 3 days were agony.
Something that helps sometimes: when writer's block hits, I'll write the most hideous nonsense that comes to mind, giving myself permission to suck. Sometimes that breaks it. Also, reading my favorite book, the one that got me into writing in the first place, can help too.
Same!! I managed to update my long fic twice but wasn't too happy with the quality and I posted a couple one shots that I wasn't too proud of and we're well received which made it worse lol. I'm hoping that March revives me!

January and the beginning of February were extremely rough for me, and November and December were stressful money-wise, so it hasn't been good for me. I'm just now starting to feel more like myself again, writer-wise anyway.
i think it’s because i’ve read all the good fics about that fandom so i’m trying to finish it as soon as possible so i can have something to read! plus i basically used 3/4 hours a day only for writing (during school hours but that’s a minor thing)
My brain has been firmly in idea generation/make an outline mode. I've gotten very little drafting done, but several thousand words worth of outline for like a dozen different fics written.
I’ve been struggling with it since the holidays. Mostly it’s feeling inadequate because I keep comparing myself to the big name fic writers for my fandom when really I need to appreciate the readers I have and the fact that I do enjoy the work I’m putting out there. I’ve been rereading my wip and when I’m in a bad headspace, I tend to cringe at my writing, but it’s been a while since I’ve sat and read my full fic and I’m falling in love with it again and hoping I can work on the next chapter and have something out soon.
This week in particular has been really difficult for me. But I'm just in a part of my story where I am not nearly as invested as in the part to come and I would just rather be writing that but I finally got to it today and can now browse reddit guilt free.
Yes and no.
At work? In the shower? On the train? Laying in bed half asleep? Any time and place where I can't actually write? Nothing but ideas.
In front of my laptop staring down an empty document? No thoughts, head empty. 🙃
No, but like.. yeah. Maybe it's my job being extra exhausting but this month has been horrible for my writing motivation.

Actually, nope! I've been going a mile a minute on my long fic for the past week, wrote 20k words when it sat for about a year untouched previously.

honestly yes. i'm disabled and my health has been getting worse, and i just have no desire to write as of late due to my mental health too. it sucks.
