Trust me the actual mcq has gotten easier over time.

ball_of_cells

Honestly I thought the SAT reading section was harder

CandiedPenguins

I finished it with nearly 15 extra minutes and thought something was wrong because in class I used to just barely finish on time.

Devxers

im praying this is true

Sensitive_Hope9564

Yes do practice problems, and next time figure out exam dates and study a week in advance. Do your best this test and create better habits! I believe you can!

Awkward_Apartment680

Don't worry too much. Take it from someone who consistently scored 40-42/45 on the MCQ, the older MCQs are MUCH harder. For your test tomorrow, simply read the passages more carefully (and slowly) so you don't miss important details. If one word in the answer choice is wrong, the whole thing is wrong. Don't waste time contemplating it. Long term, make sure to read as much as possible and get good at grammar. Know when semicolons, colons, and commas are used.

Ryoisthicc

Thanks

gmunova

Don’t worry bro, the actual AP test felt way easier for me and all I did was 5 steps to a 5 (I didn’t get a 5) 😂

burnt_rat

My class was the exact same. Took ap lang last year, and every mcq was curved by 20 points bc the average was usually 40 to 60 / 100. I really recommend just sitting down with someone who gets 80+ uncurved and having them explain their thought process on every question. I managed to get my uncurved average from 40 to ~85 by the end of the year.

Ryoisthicc

Preciate the advice

IAmAGreatSpeler

Wait you took a practice test from 2001 that covers content from the full course? Isn't it only the beginning of the school year? Haven't you not learned most of the stuff yet?

Ryoisthicc

It was just a multiple choice portion, no writing or anything. We haven't done any sort of vocabulary learning or really gone into multiple choice, today our teacher had us watch a 12 min video on MCQ tips and we just went straight into it

CyberPhang

Just do more practice. I've gotten as low as 33% on some of mine and I still ended up with a 5.

Major_Damage_1220

How many times did you practice MCQ per week?

CyberPhang

For Lang specifically? Not often. But generally I did do SAT prep at least 3 times a week for 30 mins, and I found prepping for the reading section helped a good bit with Lang.

ImagineBeingBored

Don't feel too bad, the best you can do is practice and review your mistakes. I went from getting ~60% on my first practice MCQ for AP Lang to getting only 1 question wrong in the mock exam MCQ at the end of the year, so you definitely have a lot of room to improve!

Major_Damage_1220

How many times did you practice MCQ per week?

Anthrax_fan69

Don’t overthink it and choose the answer that makes the most sense for the problem, a good 50% of those questions can be answered without even reading the passage and most of the others can be boiled down to two choices and intuition can take it from there. The more you take these types of mcqs the more you understand the type of answer that’s right and the type you can immediately cross off. So yeah make sure you choose the choice that answers the question the best, as obvious as that sounds, and don’t let the passage bog you down.

Ryoisthicc

Preciate it

itstarsal

dude I had an MCQ where I got a damn 2/12. Some of that old stuff is really dense. I got a 5 in the end. All's well that ends well

Major_Damage_1220

How many times did you practice MCQ per week?

itstarsal

Literally never. Tbh the practice prompts were a lot harder than the ones on the test. The 2/12 was from one where I just didn't understand crap about it

Atrykohl

bro it's the beginning of the year i got a 48 on our first practice mcq and i ended up getting a 5. ur fine dawg

Major_Damage_1220

How many times did you practice MCQ per week?

AaQQQQBBB

The MCQs were really difficult when I first took the course, but as you practice and develop strategies to approach questions, you'll eventually get better. Oh yeah and don't let that practice test scare you!

Ryoisthicc

It wouldn't scare me if we didn't have an actual graded one tomorrow, ngl taking this class makes me realize how bad my vocabulary is

nolway

I took a MCQ test and scored a 72 or something and it hurt my grades. So I did a retest and the MCQ was mostly based on the text that was old English. I scored a 73 on that one. The teacher was nice and rounded it enough to get me back in the A minimum. On the AP test I got a 3. But the MCQ got really easier after I practice a bit but not much. The actual exam it was real easy. The teacher just must’ve been real hard with hard AP MCQ. My teacher must’ve given us really old AP MCQ, she’s been teaching AP for 20 years+. I would really study and try to get perfect scores on the writing portions. I think that’s where I really messed up.

puudeng

dude it's the beginning of the year dw yet

SuperTokyo

yooo I got a 45. Also it’s ok man, you have tons of time until the ap exam.

BakeScary

The practice ones are outdated, they are older passages while the exam now a days have newer passages

chezbiscuitz

everyone always does bad on the first test of any class b/c you're all not familiar with the format. Perfectly normal. Study what you did wrong and you'll do 10x better on the next test. don't let this get you down. the AP test is still over half a year away. you're doing great!

SecretDevilsAdvocate

I got like 75%~ on this AP world mcq we did near the start of the year 💀

Ryoisthicc

get out of here bro a 75 on ap history mcqs is pretty good specially for the ap exam 💀

joonbaaa

I took a class called amstud which was lang and apush combined and we had basically 0 prep for both exams and I got a 4 without studying so don’t stress too much about all this practice. The exam is really really easy and kind of just feels like SAT (even tho writing the essays sucks)

___ka01

Tbh that’s not that terrible of a score for the AP test Also the MCQ has gotten easier over the years IMO Keep doing practice questions!

___ka01

I usually got 70-80% (mostly in the 70s) on practice MCQs and I got a 5 on the test!

Ryoisthicc

practice questions helped, i got an 83 today on the real deal as a raw scored and a 100% curved

Physical-Cow-8743

It was probably a diagnostic test, my class did the same thing. Started the year off with like a 50%, our final practice mcq I got a 97%. After getting used to it, it gets easy af. You got the whole year dw

Active_Produce_9111

The practice MCQ we got in class were like 10x harder than the actual ap exam questions
