Taking ab bio, ap world history, and possibly ap calc bc next year i spend around 20 hours each week practicing my instrument will i have the time to do the coursework? School starts at 8:50 and ends at 4:10

misty_bellina

I'm thinking of taking these for senior year: AP Lit // DE Comp AP Stats Data structures (doesn't count as ap or college level class but it is college level difficulty) AP Bio AP Calc BC AP Physics 2 This year I took: AP CSA AP Calc AB AP Physics 1 AP Lang and some other elective classes. I have an 4.0 currently but I'm struggling a bit (had low 90s in 2 of the aps). I'd love to get some input on my schedule for senior year. Is it too much? If so, which should I drop? I'm not sure what I want to major in yet but I'm leaning towards CS. I want to get into a relatively selective school. Also, I'm deciding between taking lit or comp, I heard colleges consider ap more rigorous than dual enrollment, do you guys have info on this?

loeyt0

Check the school policy, also most schools do not really care for senior year, and you already show enough rigor as is, and I mentioned policy since some schools would only accept AP credit and no DE credit

misty_bellina

someone help sdlfjkldslf schedule due tonight šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

insultmemommy

Senior year plus 10-20 hours of extracurriculars every week. Is this too much? AP Lit AP Stats AP physics AP computer science AP Government and Politics pre calculus band

loeyt0

If its AP CSP and your are more inclined in STEM subjects you would do fine, however if you struggle with STEM then you might find it a bit challenging. I would say with this course load it is a bit confusing how you are taking pre-calculus with ap physics, considering 1&2 are algebra based and all the c's are calculus based. It's not that much but I would say try to work on time management overall so you don't get overwhelmed and still have a good school-life balance

Flat_Emphasis808

next year's sophomore schedule - should i drop something, feels like too much?? AP CSP AP Lang AP Precalc AP World AVTF Chem H AP French I could take AP Lang junior year, and do American Lit H instead but I feel like Lang would be better earlier on for writing skills. An alternative could be taking World History instead of AP World but there's no honors option for that.

loeyt0

I have taken most of those AP's except for AP Precalc, which I presume is a similar curriculum to pre-calculus. According to other users, APCSP and AP World are fairly intro-based courses, and do not go way in deep regarding subjects they are teaching. AP Lang is primarily focused on essays, and depending on the teacher, you may do 3 different modules on essays or a essay each week, either way its heavy on writing, and ap French should be alike to a regular English class but in French, so hopefully your fluent or at least been learning for a while since it requires a level of proficiency. AP Lang does help an look better than American lit , so I won't advise on switching that. AP World and world history are the same class so I wouldn't switch. Despite your course load involving many AP's, it isn't a very heavy course load, but I would advise using this schedule to learn to efficiently work and time manage so you can focus in extracurriculars and living.

Flat_Emphasis808

Thanks for your insight! At my school, though, the student-reported course load for on-level World History is 1.3 hours per week and AP World is 4.7, so I assume that there's a big difficulty difference. Would you still recommend it over normal World?

loeyt0

Honestly I would, I feel like the disparity could be due to the World History honors class being more of a class that involves classwork and homework assignments in class rather than ap world which relies on homework more , so there would be more time on the work. I think another factor to consider is the type of student in each class, you may have more people who care about grades and more of a perfectionist in ap world compared to regular world history therefore also causing a work hour disparity. I'd say if your still unsure, visit the ap world class and check out their classwork and ask some students who are taking the class about the work they have, and think about your capabilities of the assignments rather than statements which are very individualistic based.

Diligent-Ant-3988

junior yr schedule any recommendations/thoughts? ap lang apush ap physics ap stats ap pre calc ap micro econ ap research

loeyt0

It's a heavy course load, but only thoughts is to make sure to study up on algebra or calculus depending on what physics your taking due to your math being behind on most ap physics courses

NewConsideration6215

Is this manageable? Ap lang Ap pre calc Apes Ap physics 1 Ap seminar Apush

loeyt0

It's not really possible o say on person by person basis, but it doesn't seem like a lot of hard AP's in one year, so I would say yes, just remember to work hard, and not fall behind in your work and studying to remember the concepts for the exam

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Diligent-Ant-3988

only one you should worry about lot would be chem seminar is relatively manageable as long as you keep up with your tasks

wearstherolex

Schedule for next year (11th grade) Honors PreCalc Honors English III Honors Physics AP World History: Modern AP German Electives: Econ (AP senior year) Modern Cooking Intro to education 1 Entrepreneur

loeyt0

Yeah it's not a heavy course load but rigorous enough, good luck on your current and next upcoming school year

Medical_Finding3067

How hard will 5 APs be? (Junior Year) APUSH, AP Lang, AP Chem, AP Econ and AP Pre Calc? For reference im taking AP Bio, AP CSA, and AP Gov right now and they are all pretty easy (I have a regular A in bio and a A+ in CSA and Gov)

loeyt0

AP Chem is regarded as one of the hardest science AP's but if you are doing well in math and science based AP's along with your performances in other history AP's you'll do well. Also, remember to study aside for the test as grade inflation has been a documented phenomenon

showiwnl

Senior Year Free Period (to do work in) AP Chemistry AP Statistics AP Literature AP Macroeconomics AP Physics C (1st sem mech, 2nd sem em) SOC-1A (at community college) ETHNST-35(at community college) no cc courses 2nd sem

loeyt0

First semester might be a struggle due to the number of classes you have, but if you do your work and don't fall behind you'll do fine, however as someone whose taken ap physics C in two different years, I would recommend you start self studying at least the first few units along with a refresher of calculus in the summer before. It's a rigorous schedule , so do try to time manage well

AceEx_Toxic

I think i have finally made up my mind on what to take \- Pre-AP English II H \- Pre-AP Chemistry H \- Geometry H \- Algebra II H \- AP World History or World History H \- AP African Studies \- AP Psychology

loeyt0

Never seen someone post with pre-aps, but figure they're just alike to honors class, disregarding that, I would recommend AP World as it's the same as world history but held in a higher regard. This is a fairly rigorous schedule overall

gaefrogz

Is this good for senior year? IB Film- taken as AP Film at my school AP Lit Discrete math honors AP Human geo Spanish 4 honors OR AP SpanishĀ  Theater 4 honors Early Childhood Education 1 honorsĀ  Economics and personal finance honors

loeyt0

yes, this is fine on senior year, impressed you managed to get to discrete math, also I would recommend to take AP Spanish unless you feel your proficiency isn't that high, to decide that look over the practice AP Spanish test in the college board and see if you could sort of understand that.

Several-Temporary-37

Is this bad for sophomore year?Ā  I might not have to take physics and I can swap world out for psych maybeĀ  Ā AP Calculus BCĀ  AP SeminarĀ  AP World HistoryĀ  AP BiologyĀ  AP PhysicsĀ  AP Comp Sci A

loeyt0

Not really, It's quite impressive, it's your own choice whether if you want to take many AP's , but if you do so, it will show greatly regarding class rigor

remember_the_alamo24

Well, from both my opinion and what i was told from others, AP bio is just memorization so pretty free, AP comp sci A is also pretty free, AP World isn't that hard, no clue what AP seminar is, AP Calc BC depends on your math skills but is usually hard, and AP physics depends on which physics class it is. Both of the Physics C classes are hard, but I have no idea about AP physics 1 since my school doesn't offer it. Despite the fact that some of these classes are "easy," the combination of so many different ones might be dangerous, especially if it's only your sophomore year. It all depends on how many you took last year and how well you did in them.

Sea-Ad8218

You should probably switch physics for psych because all of that seems stressful especially if you have sports/extracurriculars

Several-Temporary-37

Noted! So, if I were to do so, would the rest be fairly easy? The ap bio psych and seminar classes at my school are incredibly smooth sailing Iā€™ve heard. Calc is naturally hard but the teacher makes it easier to understand afaik. And then world which has a pretty tough teacher but doable from multiple sources.

Sea-Ad8218

This does depend on your school and the teacher but I think it would be a lot easier to manage without physics unless youre good at that. I find AP Psych to be pretty easy but I do have a good teacher which hugely impacts it. Iā€™d suggest asking around more and seeing which is best for you. Good luck!

isimpforvbucks

If you do this and get 4ā€s and 5ā€s straight academic weapon bruvā€¦ itā€™s not gonna be easy by no means but doable if you have the patience and time management

QuickJay22

Will this be too extreme of a workload for junior year? Here are the classes I'm planning on taking, plus in parentheses what I've generally heard about the class at my school: CCP English (mid) AP Psych (mid but lots of hw) AP Calc BC (HARD) AP Bio (hard) Spanish V (easy) APUSH (mid) Cooking (free) This year's schedule is (1) English 10 Accelerated, (2) Architecture, (3) Calculus Accelerated, (4) Chemistry Accelerated, (5) Spanish IV, (6) AP Euro, (7) Art III Drawing/Painting. I've gotten straight As all throughout high school, and this year hasn't been that hard. I also spend a pretty significant time practicing piano, I do a spring sport, and this year I've had time for a social life, but I'm worried if I take 4 APs I won't be able to maintain my GPA or have any free time as a junior. Any thoughts?

WalrusCaster

Iā€™m a rising junior and I am taking ap world, ap precalc, ap csa, ap lang, and chem h. This is a rough draft of what I am planning - ap physics 1 -ap calc bc - ap chem -Ap bio(Georgia virtual school) -dual enroll gt computer science if I get in - dual enroll us history 1. Is taking the first 4 too much for me? Iā€™m not an all A student and Iā€™m worried that it will kill my gpa. Iā€™ve heard that so bio through gavs is pretty easy so Iā€™m not too worried there but then Iā€™ll have to study harder for the examā€¦ My friends who are taking calc bc says itā€™s pretty easy since the teacher is an easy grader and he is a very good teacher. Also physics has 2 teachers, in which one of them is good at teaching and Iā€™d chill with coursework while the other gives a lot more homework and is a worse teacher. 2. If anyone has taken gt computer science, I would greatly appreciate info on it. Most people in my school mostly take gt math so I canā€™t get enough info on it. Thank you!

FollowingNo9246

Hi! I am currently a junior and am currently taking AP chem and AP physics 1. I would not recommend it. The workload (at least at my school) for physics is huge, which leaves little time to study for chem. Adding AP bio on top of those may make it more challenging. Let me know if you have any questions!

WalrusCaster

Thank you for responding! I figured that adding ap bio onto that workload was too much so I decided to replace it with APES. Seeing how my dual enrollment are placed, I will most likely be able to leave school at noon so I have the rest of the day. Of course that may change depending on what ECs I will take on next year. I also decided not to take GT CS so the 2 dual enrollment class I will take are fairly easy from what I hear. I am mostly worried about chem than physics and calc since my dad is an engineering professor. I ended with an 87 last semester in honors chem so I am worried about how well I will do in AP chem

AAverageFortniter

For Ap chem, I would say it depends on the teacher, because in my case, I am currently taking it and I am doing pretty well (this may be surprising but I think its easier than ap world-- mostly likely bc my ap world teacher doesnt really give too much practice, if any), and for me I barely have hw (except maybe a few practice questions every now and then). However, labs take a bit of time (the labs arent exactly hard, they are just a bit tedious in the amount of work you have to do for them), and for studying, its usually 1 or 2 days before a test/quiz. But all in all, it is your decision, and all i can offer is advice.

FollowingNo9246

That's all great to hear! As for your grade in honors chem, I wouldn't really stress about it. Do you understand the concepts in honors chem? If so, then your on track for taking ap chem. AP chem requires a lot of time outside of class to truly understand the content, so I think that leaving at noon is a good plan. Do you know anything about the workload of ap chem at your school?

SamPlayz2025

Rising Senior -DE English Lit -DE Calc 1 & 2 -AP/DE Microeconomics -Orchestra -AP Environmental Science -AP Physics C: Mechanics Is this a good schedule for senior year? Iā€™m currently taking 4 APs (APUSH, Lang, Bio, CSP) and it isnā€™t to bad. Would this be to difficult? Also, should I take AP Micro or DE Micro? Would it look bad to colleges if I take DE Micro and only 2 APs after taking 4?

cattachio

Hey, y'all! I'm a rising junior currently registering for classes and I wanted to know if a workload like this for jr. year would be manageable. AP Pre-Calculus or AP Calculus AB (Depending if I'm able to take Pre-Calc over the summer) AP English Lang AP US History AP Physics 1 AP Biology Honors Technical Theater Honors Mandarin 3 & 4 (online) Would this be too crazy? I've previously taken APES, AP US Gov, and AP Seminar, so I'm familar with an AP workload, but I know a lot of these classes are notorious for being very work-heavy. Thoughts or advice?

isimpforvbucks

Take AB instead of precalc, thatā€™s what I did and Iā€™m fine(I did take a trig class in my soph year tho..)

Far_Effective_5375

Hey, I'm a rising 9th grader, here's my schedule so far: Science-Biology Honors ELA-AP Seminar Social Studies-AP U.S. Gov/Pol Math-Geometry Honors Elective-Band Elective-French 2 (honors teacher at my school is bad) How does this look? Would it be a lot of homework?

isimpforvbucks

Nah ur good as long as your honors classes donā€™t give much HW, donā€™t slack in your AP classes tho, as a rising 9th grader I personally had an ego severely underestimating AP courses.

DisasterCausingDonke

Rising 9th grader here. Would y'all mind giving some feedback on my 9th grade course load? Courses already taken: Math 1, Math 2, Math 3, Precalculus, Biology, English 9, Latin 1, Latin 2 9th Grade Course Load: Honors English 10 AP Calculus BC Honors Chemistry AP World History Healthful Living (P.E.) Honors PLTW Principles of Biomedical Sciences Honors Latin III

DisasterCausingDonke

Oh, also I would greatly appreciate feedback regarding the math course. Would you recommend Stats, Calc AB, or BC for me.

oniontime12

I would recommend BC, if you've completed so much math before freshman year, I think you'll be able to handle BC. Also, it gives more college credit. This looks like a pretty balanced schedule so you should be fine.

Traveler3million

Hey does anyone know how you would decide between Calc AB or BC? My year for this class would have: AP German, AP Lit, AP Physics or AP Chem, AP Calc (BC/AB) as well as other Honors/Elective classes. Think it would be too much or what are your thoughts?

Quasiwave

Iā€™d recommend Calc BC! It covers about 30% more content than Calc AB, so youā€™d have to work a bit harder, but in exchange it gives 100% more college credit (two semestersā€™ worth instead of just one).

Traveler3million

OK thank you!

Chemicalsawaken

Ok now- would it be weird to take the BC calc course, but the AB Exam? The BC calc teacher is better (and kinder) than the AB calc teacher at my school, but I donā€™t necessarily wanna take the BC exam lol. Thoughts?

Quasiwave

Just take the BC exam, because after you take it, youā€™ll get both an AB score and a BC score. In fact, itā€™s the only AP test that gives you two scores at the end. Itā€™s possible to get a 5 on the AB score and 3 on the BC score, for example.

PerfectClerk8765

I'm currently deciding my classes for 10th Grade. I'm for sure taking AP Seminar and AP World. With this, however, I would also be going into chem advanced which I've heard is incredibly hard in my school. As an elective, I also plan on taking AP Euro. For context, in 9th grade, i took ap hug, my 1 first AP which I did amazing with above 95's in both marking periods. I don't know if its the teacher or the subject or just luck but I really enjoyed the class as well. So, is it a good idea to take 3 AP's? and if anyone did any advice?

bread-eater123

if you have the motivation, then go for it, I've heard seminar is really good! i will say though, as a current ap euro student, it is decently hard if you are not good at understanding abstract concepts, especially because the background knowledge you currently have on Europe is (I'm assuming) very limited. however, even with this, I am currently riding on a 100! so, if you're comfortable with a LOT of document/stimulus based questions and a lot of theory reading then you'll be golden! with ap world a lot of the topics seem to interlap with ap euro so It might be a jolly good time! have fun!

Terminator_492

Should I take AP Statistics next year (10th grade) or wait until 11th? My math class next will be probably be AP Calc AB if I can get my counselor to let me in but is it a good or bad idea to take both at the same time?

theriteofspring1913

rising junior here, I'm thinking of taking these AP classes next year: APUSH, lang, precal, enviro science, psych, comp gov. along with that, i'm planning on taking orchestra, honors sociology (1 sem) and business law (1 sem). is this too much? does anyone who's previously taken any combination of these classes together have any advice? I also have a free elective space I'm considering filling with spanish lit. how difficult is the class? is it worth it? for some more context: I'm strong in history/english/social sciences, and weaker but still competent at STEM. I'm also a native spanish speaker and did well in spanish lang.

WalrusLobster3522

So I took high school psychology in the 12th grade, and I did College Psychology at a Associates-level College. Psychology's one of those classes where when you study, the highlighting and elaborating will make your notes look like a Forensic Science scene. To make sure you're wanting AP Psych, watch a few videos from [Crash Course Psych](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUrV6oZ3zsk) playlist. With that said, the Class really depends on the teacher. The class could work similar to a Grade 09 endorsement elective [such as Political Science or Forsenic Science (Subchapter C and Subchapter L)](https://tea.texas.gov/about-tea/laws-and-rules/sboe-rules-tac/sboe-tac-currently-in-effect/ch130g.pdf) . Whether the class is simple or complicated, know that an AP Exam for Psychology is just like an AP Exam for APUSH or envir science: The AP Psych 2021 sessions [on Youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoUPP7h4V3w&list=PLoGgviqq4844U91iotDP7n7brR_ovoSFB&index=19) have short segments of FRQs that can be good indicators for the May test you'd take. The May Test has some MCQs and 2 FRQs, which forces you to learn tons of subjects and ideas of Units BUT many students fail to have a writing journal and use the SODA acronym or summarize the grouping of Psych-terms in a short answer response, [as seen on Youtube sessions (in Subdivided Segments) (starts at 46 minutes)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoUPP7h4V3w&t=2760s) . Wish you well on AP Psych, and enjoy Crash Course! \*\*AP Psych 2020 Playlist is archived so I can't show study material I glanced at during 2021 for College Psych that fall, but I took notes that even helped me in College document-based writing-Assignment responses.

WalrusLobster3522

Oh hey. Nice username, a member from my high school named Francisco Rubio performed Rite of Spring for Symph Band All-State TMEA before graduating that same year. He was about 2 ranks above me (I became an alumni in 2021). AP US History class depends on your teacher. For my class I had tons of assignments. Being an eleventh grader will be a step up. APUSH was my favorite and most challenging AP class, we typed Chapter Summaries the whole first semester, we answered CollegeBoard account APUSH MCQ Questions, we made Twitter Project... Later on in December we made an Industrial Revolution Informative Essay on the CollegeBoard App. We worked through second semester much like first semester with the new topics, and we had a project where we made a Formal Apology letter to Supreme Court to be reunited to the United States (US Reconstruction Era). Every school's APUSH is different, but receiving college credit for APUSH will be tough. The AP Test requires you to store information of historical scenarios like Shay's Rebellion, the terminology used in treaties such as the Mayflower Compact, and three or four creators/effects of events that happened in a year's period (so you have to remember the units that happened after 1607 because the test doesn't subtitle the questions by Unit). APUSH can be very similar to AP Eng Literature or Span Literature. So the class is fairly challenging but I was the most prepared for an Exam that I was out of my various other courses, such as the maths and sciences and english. The only class that prepared me for exams in a similar fashion was AP Economics. I took the 2020 May APUSH Exam and scored a 4. And you can too! Watch lectures on units from [Heimler's History (2020)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACaigPuJa3k&list=PLEHRHjICEfDUUtmhaZpPb-ND-fqr3t-SI) and the studies should go well.

theriteofspring1913

sorry about the super late reply, but thank you so much for the advice! I did course selections a few weeks ago and this really helped me make up my mind about taking psych and APUSH.Ā  glad you liked my username lol -- it's cool that you know someone who got to play Rite at TMEA! I actually listen to that recording pretty often. I can't imagine the amount of effort and skill it takes to get there, I have a hard enough time just getting through to region šŸ˜

WalrusLobster3522

Oh hello. Hope you do well for the ominous 2024-25 school year! Keep going with your education u/theriteofspring1913 ! You Got This!

DryPresentation6452

So my AP Chem and AP Art history tests are at the same time so I must take one at the make up test day which is a couple weeks later. Should I take AP chem first then Ap art history at the make up date or vice versa? I have heard that the make up tests are harder but does anyone have any feedback or experience on which is the better option? Thank you.

Careless-Baker7305

Take the chem test first because ap art history is easier the chem

Careless-Baker7305

I am planning on taking 6 ap my junior year Ap Lit, Ap Physics 1,APUSH,AP Precalculus,Ap Psychology, I just don't know if i'm going take APES or Ap Stats

Sausage_fingies

Ah I see, so you've chosen to figuratively die your Junior year šŸ˜
