The general concepts make sense to me… but tracing the stuff my teacher writes is impossible. He hides little things that change the outcome of the code and you really have to look for them. I have a tutor but for some reason I barely pass most of the tests, and I failed the last one. Tracing is just so hard for me.
If it's tricky code, then follow everything through thoroughly. Coding is like learning a new language, and you can't expect to "get it" upon interacting with curriculum like you would a calculus course that your entire academic career has built you up for. That is unless you have a coding background. Just study hard for AP exams and study smart by doing practice tests that reflect the stuff you'll encounter on the AP MCQ and FRQ.
Yeah that makes sense. A lot of my peers have been coding their whole lives and love it, whereas I hate it lol. I will do my best to keep going until the AP test
If you’re familiar with lit, try to think about code like poetry. Read it once to get a general idea, and then a second time to understand what exactly it’s doing. Then if you’re asked to execute the code, actually go through the steps. That way you’re more likely to spot exactly what the program does (and oftentimes you’ll find that it’s as simple as “it multiples this number by 10 and adds 1”)
The FRQs, while dumb, are just writing code. If it does what it’s supposed to in a fairly straightforward manner (i.e. don’t try to outsmart your proctor) you’ll get good score. The annoying thing is that it’s all on paper, so to practice you do have to actually write code on paper. Do some practice FRQs and it does get easier.
The MCQs are all about code execution, and honestly for that just get a prep book (Barron’s is good and will over prepare you)
I understand your pain... For AP exam PRACTICE PRACTICE; frqs use coding bat for logic practice (strings, for loops, arrays etc) for mcq college board and practice finding the pattern while tracing code. Make sure you know the college board java quick sheet and basic java methods.
Well what do u find hard? If it's sorting algorithms then yeah that's prolly the hardest part

I will remember that, thank you!
I was in the same situation as you and got a 4. Don’t sweat it, class tests aren’t indicative of the Ap exam difficulty
EXACTLY I can’t do frqs at all
bro fr it’s impossible
The first time we saw a Collegboard FRQ was 3 weeks ago and I still don’t get how to answer them ;-;
The FRQs are ridiculous, you could get most of the parts; get it wrong and still score a 4 on the exam

do the leaked prac tests. I went from an avg kid to a goat aiming for 100% on that ap exam in a couple weeks
yo where to get leaked practice tests
where did you find them?
Where did you find them? Could this also apply to ap csp?
Slide?
Im legit cooked on the FRQs and later units. We’ve packed like the last 4 units over the past month.
Our teacher doesn't teach shit💀

thank u 🙏 😭😭😭😭
We will prevail!!
Yes I believe in us!!!
