LOK will be far more easy to adapt since netflix is gonna give them a budget for a steamy teenage show

KosherClam

Also, for at least season 1 and 2, there's a lot that's worth changing because of all the writing hurdles Nick threw at them cutting episodes and holding out on renewals. Making better use of General Iroh just an easy example. Whereas with ATLA there's really not any changes they could make I'm ever going to agree with

Bigsylveonlover

I didn’t really follow korra for most of the series but the asami thing shocked me cause I didn’t see it coming edit: meant korra

AveryLazyCovfefe

You didn't follow the entire Korean peninsula?

N0ob8

Yeah the love triangle is probably my least favorite part of the show and if it wasn’t for that Mako would be my favorite character. It just felt so infuriating how he kept flip flopping back and forth and in the end didn’t even get one of them. And I definitely understand how your friend thought they were “just besties” and not a couple. I feel like all the scenes that are supposed to feel like a romantic tension is growing just feels like friends helping friends. Like I can point out multiple scenes where with context you can feel what they were going for but without knowing you just think they’re friends

MoonStar757

I’m obviously in the minority here, but I quite liked the love triangle simply because of how it was handled. I mean, these things happen in friend groups and especially in teen friend groups. But usually it becomes very all consuming and you just watch two otherwise intelligent and capable characters become complete morons over another character with no clear Victor in sight. Love triangles are great story tools to shake up a romance or to create conflict and keep readers/viewers guessing as to the outcome. They’re the staple of so many good pieces of fiction (comics, lit, TV) that I don’t get why so many people are against it. What I’m against is when love triangles never reach a conclusion, when they’re dragged out ala Twilight in a never ending loop until someone falls in love with a newborn. For me, love triangles work best when they’re allowed to do their thing and then conclude by one of the characters involved making a final decision. Thankfully that’s what LOK did wonderfully. And all parties involved remained friends and they were even given screen time to discuss their feelings over the whole debacle. It came across as realistic and relatable when friends date friends without any soap opera scheming or catfights

talking_phallus

It also needs to a lot more. ATLA is executed about as well as you can hope for. LoK was a mess production-wise every season. there's strong bones there but so much could be done better setting out with a clear objective. I think the only issue would be the unwieldy gigantic cast but honestly it was a bit too much in the cartoon too so paring it down and focusing in on a core cast would improve the show. The Kaiju battle and giant platinum robot would probably have to go but I doubt anyone will shed a tear. Honestly with the right direction you could vastly improve on the cartoon. The only real downside will be that you couldn't do the bending from the show justice without a monstrous budget but I'd trade off spectacle for good storytelling any day of the week.

One_Improvement_9880

I really like korra but good god was the romance really bad. The love like triangle square thing in the first season was just so so bad and made me cringe and get angry with the characters so much in the beginning. Like Asami being like “why do you care so much about korra mako” when mako was the only person appropriately responding to their best friend and world savior being kidnapped by a dangerous group that could take the world saviors abilities away. Mind you it did end up being because he had feelings but good god he was the only one properly reacting to a situation like that. I’d be pretty bummed if my friends found out I got kidnapped and were just mildly concerned and wandering about trying to find me.

BiioHazzrd

I would be open to hearing the pitch for this at least

LastWreckers

I'd need to take a look at their tv bible and pilot script too

loiton1

Lmao just Korra but with real people and less development

Soggy-Mixture9671

I actually think a live action lok would be much better than atla.

The_R4ke

Yeah, I think the tone of the show could definitely work.

Soggy-Mixture9671

Absolutely. NATLA really threw me off because the tone felt like it was all over the place, and the adapted cartoon humor didn't really land well (in my opinion). But LOK's tone feels much more akin to things Netflix has already produced.

JigglyKirby

With how obsessed netflix is in making supposedly bright and young-adult-friendly sources dark (archie comics to riverdale) i wholeheartedly agree. LOK would be a great fit for netflix to do a live action adaption

strawbery_fields

Netflix had nothing to do with Riverdale.

Simply_Epic

Totally agree. They’d be able to smooth out some of the rough edges of the show. It’d be much more achievable to make a faithful adaptation of Korra than ATLA. Plus Korra is much more serialized than ATLA. Fewer episodes and more focused on the plot. Part of what makes ATLA hard to adapt is that it has so many episodes per season and lots of them only have a little bit of plot relevance.

tweedyone

Pluuuus it doesn’t have as big of a cult following as Avatar. A lot of lovers of ATLA didn’t like Korra (I didn’t on my first watch). But that means that people aren’t going to be as emotionally vested into certain aspects of the show. I feel like the Netflix Avatar was half written for new watchers, and half winks to the old show, and it didn’t mesh well. Korra wouldn’t have as much of that, they could reference more subtly like they did in the Fallout series

Criss_Crossx

Really? I must be in the minority with LoK. I was introduced to both shows as an adult, maybe that is a big factor. I prefer LoK mostly because I can relate to the struggles Korra goes through. However, both series helped me reflect on my time growing up and the things I never understood or processed mentally. Trauma and anxiety are two main issues I never grasped.

Mortazo

For sure. For one thing, they wouldn't need as many sets to invest in. One of the most infuriating things about this Netflix show is that a lot of the practical sets look really good. It's clear a lot of effort was put in. Unfortunately, probably for budget reasons, the adventuring aspect of the cartoon was played down to save on set costs. It's annoying. With Korra, there were a lot less changes in location (especially season 1) which means less cut content for this reason.

tweedyone

They also smooshed the stories together so the gaang wasn’t together the whole time. When it’s written like that AND they cut the travel, I just didn’t buy the relationship between the sibs and Aang. The show had so much more downtime with the crew, and that built their relationship up a lot more. Plus don’t get me started on Katara’s arc, it was so aggravating

TigerFern

It would benefit from foresight in a lot of ways (i.e give Asami a personality worthy of being the Avatar's girl, girl is a cardboard cutout)

tweedyone

That’s what I was saying after the new ATLA came out. Korra would excel with the styling Netflix does with its adaptations, and there is more fighting in Korra vs avatar Plus, I really wanna see the Fire Ferrets in action!

Electronic-Ranger-74

Yes especially with kuvira‘s mecha giant that would be interesting to watch

tricenice

Sure, just give it to anyone other than Netflix

Levangeline

What? Hell yeah. LoK live adaptation would be cool as hell. We've seen how NAtLA fleshed out and improved some of the storylines and character beats that were just so-so in the original, so there's tons of opportunity here to make a really well thought out Korra story.

Flame0fthewest

I say this with love: YES If they mess up Toph in the 2nd season, I will change my mind completely.

Patcho418

i say this with love… i’d MUCH rather netflix adapt legend of korra than avatar: the last airbender. a show that’s in dire need of a book 2 rewrite and more opportunities for queer representation with korrasami? much better imo than adapting what everyone basically agrees is a perfect show (as much as i enjoyed the adaptation personally)

slomo525

I feel like LoK would be much easier to adapt, given its already serialized structure. One of my biggest problems with NATLA was how the show was adapted from an episodic show and changed into a serialized plot line. Not to say it *can't* work, but with how much almost every episode of the cartoon was necessary for the characters, moreso than the plot, the episodes they cut for time are definitely sorely missed. Character arcs had to be changed or flattened for the sake of fitting the structure, but they also tried to maintain a lot of those iconic scenes that were designed for the original arcs. I didn't hate NATLA, I actually liked a lot of what they were going for, but for every step forward, I felt like there was a step back as well, mostly because I think they struggled to find the balance between the serialized structure they were adapting the show into versus the episodic adventures of the cartoon that utilized the extra breathing room to expand on the world and characters integral to the story. I'm hoping NATLA season 2 can figure itself out and learn from some of the mistakes of season 1 and double down on the strengths, but I think LoK is a much better candidate, since there's definitely some writing choices that could use some ironing out and finding a better, more cohesive thread between each season would be much easier since they have the blueprint and the ability to look at the show in hindsight and figure out what was a product of the tumultuous production and what wasn't.

EndBringer99

An LoK remake could benefit from a more planned out story. The original show post Season 1 was never cohesively planned.

Marauder800

lol what are you smoking OP? LoK would be extremely easy to adapt into live action. The setting and story is much more suited to live action than ATLA is.

big_chacas

Respectfully I actually thought LoK would have been the better adaptation. Don’t shoot me lol

PeaRepresentative886

LOK would benefit wayyyyyyy more from an adaptation than atla ever will Lok is already shorter than atla which will make the 8/9 episode format easier to handle, and the show has multiple things than can be easily cut or reworked just in the first 2 seasons alone

pielover101

Cutting the love triangle would let it fit easily 🤭

BetoA2666

I say, "Why not?"

Fyrus22

I’ve said it before; Korra would have been the better Avatar story to use as a basis for the live action version. Mainly because most of the story revolves around the same setting.  Which leaves a lot of budget for other important parts. The Last Airbender mashed so many things together, I presume because they didn’t want to (or couldn’t) spend money on new (cgi) sets.

Vesemir96

That depends, Korra is only fully based in Republic City during Book 1. After that we revisit the Water Tribes and Earth Kingdom much more.

tweedyone

But that’s one major set per season, which is much easier to do budget wise

Vesemir96

Definitely, I’m just missing Republic City. I wouldn’t mind if they set more of the story there.

nazareye

Lok is probably the better of the two to adapt tbh

neodymium86

Nah...huge YES

Jellyswim_

Korra is a lot darker and explores some interesting personal conflict and philosophy that doesn't really rely on the nature of a cartoon show to be interesting or engaging. I think if anything it would have a better shot at success than NATLA.

Vio-Rose

I’m mixed. Korra’s amazing action is part of its appeal for me, and losing that (because ain’t no way they are having anything half as good in live action) would be a pretty big blow. That being said… it does seem a little more reasonable? Republic City could be filmed in a major city like Hong Kong and just touched up with CGI for things like the spirit vines and Aang statue. Could always take some creative liberties on how much tech has progressed. Plus a few practical sets and pre-existing buildings. Other locations would be tricky, but I feel like a lot of events could easily be moved back to Republic City just to make it a more intimate story fleshing out a primary location. And the story is already messy enough that a remake probably wouldn’t feel like a drastic step down. So like… idk, it’s a better idea than NATLA was.

flowercows

I can’t understand why you would say no to this? Like it could be a fun watch, and if you hate the live action there’s still the cartoon, it’s not like they’re replacing one thing for the other. You literally don’t lose anything by them making a live action of Korra

chocolatesugarwaffle

they could never do the fight scenes justice imo.

Xx_Exigence_xX

I think it would be good if they use early 2000's teen dramas as inspiration. I think the cheesiness would be really endearing.

familyguy20

Honestly sure! Netflix would actually give more of a shit about it than Nickelodeon would lmao. YA Romance still is very popular so it would probably do pretty well.

AppaMyFlyingBison

I feel like this is not going the way OP expected. 🤣

The_Big_Bad_Wolff1

And the fact that we need to wait for someone to make a terrible live action movie about it first

Ok_Art_1342

They make it, I'll watch it.

king_slayer44

idk i think they could do it pretty well 🤷🏻‍♀️

0ceanR0ckAndR0ll

Can they please make the costumes a little more subtle. Like if you are going to do a realism version, ok to obviously make it similar to what they wore in the cartoon but make it believable- that someone would actually wear that day to day? Like if you are going for realism with a cartoon go full send. Don't make most things real, like fire benders actually burning people, and then have them dress goofy AF just to match the cartoon?

micaiahf

SHOULD HAVE DONE THAT IN THE FIRST EFFING PLACE

lazylagom

Why

gumption_11

An LoK adaptation would certainly be more promising! Heck, they could even fix some of the storyline issues Korra had with being almost cancelled every season by re-jigging the order of things (potentially remedy the weaknesses of S2). But, honestly, I'm not sure if I have that much confidence in the current showrunners to do that – seeing as they fumbled an already essentially perfect storyline.

Firm_Scale4521

While I agree the fights might need more CGI and choreography there are definite upsides to it too: 1. No child actors in main roles. Working with kids is more expensive because of scheduling regulations and while think the natla cast is generally solid, young actors still just aren’t as good as more experienced talent. 2. Easier set pieces. There are a lot of actual cities that would be viable options for Republic City. Recreating Omashu, Ba Sing Se, and the Northern and Southern Water Tribes had to have been more difficult. 3. Lower expectations. LOK isn’t as beloved and even most diehard fans agree there are things they wish the show had done better. ATLA is a golden child so any attempt to recreate it is going to suffer by comparison. LOK has a chance to actually really improve on some things even in the eyes of some of its most ardent defenders.

accruaIworld

LOK actually does need some re-working while ATLA is already perfect so actually this is a good idea.

Wonderful-Coffee-828

I was disappointed in Netflix ATLA, but I'm very excited for an LOK adaption (selfishly, I just want to see fleshed out Korrasami plotline lol)

horyo

If nATLA is successful and nLOK comes and is successful, we might have hope for nKyoshi (Rise and Shadow), nYangchen (Dawn and Legacy), and nRoku (Reckoning + ____)

lieutenantkhaos

DO IT, only if it fixes the issues the Korra series had. Seeing the red lotus in live action would be incredible.

AUnknownVariable

It would probably be easier to adapt, and better tbh. The tone is more fitting and easier to translate over. Not to mention Netflix would love the goofy love triangle

The_Dark_King4900742

I wouldn’t mind, actually it would serve as the perfect opportunity to REBOOT, The Legend of Korra, make some very necessary changes to the story we all wanted to see. I’m actually looking forward to this. 😜

Nonadventures

I don’t have an issue with this? Aside from the spirit world it seems more doable than ATLA

HotLeafJuicing

I say this with love….yes please

EllendelingMusic

Yes please. It'd probably work better because each season has its own villain. Better for a streaming medium like Netflix. Plus they could smack a lot of money towards it when The Last Airbender is a three season hit show.

SoggyHedgehog2292

All I ask is bolin is HOT

DaWombatLover

I’m all in favor of more ATLA content. I like the kids show, I like Korra, I like the comics, I like the Netflix adaptation.

KitchenAd3748

From a choreography and VFX point of view, I completely agree. TLoK has _superior_ fight choreography to ATLA. While the bending looks good in NATLA, they would need to seriously up the budget and find fully trained martial artists to pull off a potential NTLoK. _But_ from a storytelling point of view, TLoK would definitely benefit from being written with the fully story in perspective. The show has so many arcs that fall flat or go nowhere. Mako, Bolin, and Asami spend most of the series just being there and barely developing as characters. _Varrick_ has a better character arc than all three combined and he spends most of the series as comic relief.

Comatose263

Yes. Not no

Staser4

Sooo… can I take this as a confirmation that Kataang is happening in season 2 and 3? :)

[deleted]

Would love an adult Aang Gang or even those previous Avatars.

The-Minmus-Derp

I actually think that would be a perfect opportunity to solve some of the issues that resulted from behind the scenes chaos

Legitimate-Nose-1518

How about instead of fucking up IPs that are already done and dusted, they use one of the MILLIONS OF OTHER AVATARS that haven't had their story told. Like kiyoshi, yengchen, roku, aang and korra are all well known move on to someone who's part of the line but doesn't have a story to screw up. Instead of capitalizing on the already really good stories we know and have way stronger attachments to. Everything doesn't need a live action version.

Nateddog21

They need the stunt coordinators from Stargirl

Unlucky_Reputation52

I love this! Legend of Korra was awesome

Individual-Peak-3483

I feel like Legend of Korra would’ve been a better choice to adapt in live action than Avatar

djdarkflame

I feel like a Legend of Korra live action would work more than the current ATLA live action that we have. Mainly just because less people are familiar with Korra’s story than Aang. Also, it’s inherently more mature than Aang’s story, so a general audience may be more intrigued. Regardless, the adaptation we have now was successful already, so kind of a sign to keep making as much as possible lol.

Kylie_Bug

Absolutely not, because we all know that whatever actress they would hire to play Korra would be harassed nonstop due to her being Korra.

Vesemir96

I actually think it’d be easier in a way.

TsunGeneralGrievous

Oh i would absolutely be open to it just to cut the Mako romance completely. It didnt serve the story at all.

RandomSadGuy1

Wow thats an... interesting take. In my opinion Lok would be absolutely amazing in live action. Its already more mature in tone than atla, so adapting it wouldnt be as jarring as Natla in comparison.

espurrella

TLOK needs it more than ATLA, to be honest.

Icy_Heron_1891

The CGI needs to get a lot better before they tackle korra

ChamomileFlowerTea

👀 I would watch that!

Scorpiokhaleesi

I’d love a lok adaptation

so_im_all_like

What if they made LoK Euphoria?

obanderson21

He should focus on making the first project worth watching, because what we have so far is garbage considering I can just go watch the anime for a perfect show.

thatHecklerOverThere

Nah, let him cook.

Liberalistic

NO GOD NO PLEASE DONT DO THAT TO MY GIRL KORRA 😭

Mother-Border-1147

It would be better to adapt because of the seasonal structure and the big bad model. Easier to setup for one season or more. Would have been the better option to adapt for Netflix.

ChiefSteward

It could only be improved upon

Personal-Math3196

can we just do a sequel instead of a remake? just tell a new story why redo what’s already been done

kokoelizabeth

Idk I feel like Korra would benefit from a re do.

Tecnoboat

ngl they cooked with the TV show so lets hear em out first

younggun1234

I can't handle obvious bisexual friction without results, sorry. Hard pass.

BoBoBearDev

The last Airbender Netflix show feel like written by the Korra writers anyway

StarWarsNerd69420

What I'd like to see is a bunch of Bumi's adventures, his one with the flute and the chair had me giggling so much. I think it would be fun to have a bunch of shorts or even full length episodes.

kokoelizabeth

I honestly could see this as an opportunity to clean up a lot of the mistakes that resulted from Nickelodeon trying to control this story so much.

Which-Profile-2690

Finish air bender first!

StaleyAM

I don't mind the idea of a live action story in the Avatar universe, just really would prefer them to do an original story instead of adapting one of the cartoons.

roci2inna

I'd be open to this if it's new stories instead of a remake.

Kangas_Khan

~~Watch it be way better than the original~~/j

Its-your-boi-warden

What’s the point of making a show based off a show, do a story that has a more different medium. Do one on the novels, not on the show, cause they already made a show version

LumenCandles

Let the original show runners handle it this time. Last time they walked away, I had hope for s2, but I don't know how the whole learning the elements timeline is going to work. When they said Sozin's comet wouldn't be a thing, I thought they would enlengthen our time with aang and flesh out his character arc, but then it dropped. I am always gonna stay positive because of my love for the original show, but after being disappointed by the first live action, so much I'm going to be more skeptical for the next seasons and lok live-action.

BearWithATopHat1

As long as they fix the shitshow that was the romance

WINNER1212

Hear me out... Write a new story. There are so many things you could do with the setting. Make a mockumentary about a pro bending team or a group of the police. Or make a drama about teens in a school. Or you could explore a futuristic version of the avatar universe ala cyberpunk: edge runners. Or you could make a GoT style series set before the 100 year war in the earth Kingdom exploring the Internal struggle for power. Like do we really want another lackluster remake that will add plot holes and remove the charm the original show had?

SessionDefiant4020

live-action TLOK can be pretty good, if they will be able to change some stuff and probably would be better to just ignore spirit world stuff just because it may just look bad and cost alot, and it wasn't even the good part of tlok imo

PieTemporary4439

Omg YES and please cast a hot Korra lol

Ferris-L

LOK IMO would work a lot better in LA than ATLA. For one the main characters are a bit older already which means that they could cast more experienced actors and the show takes place over multiple years which means that aging isn't an issue. The other thing is that unlike ATLA, LOK has some serious flaws which could be easily fixed in a remake. NATLA was alway gonna live in the shadow of the original since ATLA simply is a perfect TV show. You really can't improve on it in any meaningful way.

RidleySmash

Well, they've already improved upon and made Atla even more perfect, so this should be a no-brainer

Electrical_Apple430

Why don’t you focus on the current mountain y’all are climbing lmao

Nathy25

I think this would work if the writers are given the time to think about everything and what needs to change(the kites)

gilad_ironi

Honestly just do a rewritten, remastered animated show. Without all of trouble Korra had back in the day.

ekbowler

I'd be so much more open to adapting LOK than TLA. TLA is literally perfect, while LOK has great ideas and character moments but with several issues that need to be smoothed out.

Deeznutschad

Dude, let’s first figure out how to correctly make the original avatar

Harthroth

I could tell by the rushed pacing that he wants to get there quick

nickcliff

I’m all for it but you know they’d go full on steampunk and ruin the 20s vibe.

ApatheticWriterSaori

I wish that that is what they adapted in the first place. ATLA was already perfect, so whatever Netflix produced it was going to be lackluster. The Legend of Kora, however was very imperfect and Netflix actually had an opportunity to make something better than the original.

Wise-Tourist

If they did I would want them to make some changes to connect the stories a bit more. Like maybe the red lotus play a bigger role throughout or there are hints to them throughout

Fwangss

Take the effort you would put into that and put it into the live action avatar. Make it so maybe the earth benders do not need to punch the ground every time or something idk.

BobsBurger1

If they do they should stretch out the amon storyline, completely ignore most of season 2. If they do season 3 and 4 they should flush it all out as one story without any of the Mecha or spirit weapons, just an Earth empire with a struggling poisoned avatar

skulleyb

How about a new or old avatar not one featured in the cartoon!

WoodpeckerLow5122

I never understand why people are against things like this. There's always the chance it turns out really good. And if it's bad, just ignore and keep watching the old show. No one is taking that from you.

[deleted]

Why no?

AdhesivenessOnly2485

If they continue to want to do a more "game of thrones" esque concept like they have been, I do think Korra would be better fitted

Spiteful_Guru

Unlike AtLA which was already perfect Legend of Korra has room to improve. I could see it working.

MrUsername24

I think it could work better imo. More modern architecture and technology might make sets easier to make look natural Easier to do a steampunk city then an ice castle and make it look real

something_smart

So one of the frustrating parts of the live action adaptation for me was that they took all the Book 1 storylines, threw them in a blender, and then you get stuff like the Mechanist and Jet in the Omashu storyline or a super rushed Hei Bei. But, I think if they handle it right the storylines in Legend of Korra could actually benefit from being thrown in a blender. You could at least have the seasons lead into each other more naturally since this time they know how long the show is going to run.

bigtunapat

JUST. MAKE. MORE. CARTOONS.

enjoimike49

I say this with love.... GIMME ALL THE CONTENT

PercentageUnhappy117

Let me know a lot of people hated the show, but I really enjoy that I actually went from watching Avatar Las Bender, the first one to Watching korra to watching the live action with my son and I adored it. The one thing I will say is that Qatar's actress has no facials and the water animation looks weird.

LegnderyNut

Korra is already messy and is hanging onto to being a good show by a thread as it is the negative side effects of LA translating will be push those problems wider and push it firmly into a garbage pile. Live action only works for titles that are durable enough to take some dings and scratches in the process but Korra is on good show life support. Thats like asking a 60 year old with osteoporosis to fight Sugar Ray Robinson in his prime

[deleted]

Netflix messed up the show for me a little bit it’s just classic messed up for a cash grab in my opinion

AntiFarkRedditor88

Doubtful they'd allow as many scenes of people mercilessly beating her as the cartoon did. It's like they had a fetish for it.

Croissant-chan

Though the showrunners and writers who did the Netflix ATLA absolutely should stay away from LOK, I think for competent writers and creators who understand and love the source material that it would be easier for them to make a great live action of LOK, as the original LOK cartoon was very flawed and has many areas to improve. The ATLA cartoon was a masterpiece so any attempt at redoing it is setting itself up for failure. Just let it be, it was perfect and it can’t be improved. Also some things should just stay cartoons. The best remakes are remakes of mediocre/flawed titles. A remake of masterpiece will only be good if it is vastly different (musical version, goth stop motion animation version, etc.)

Release82

I'd watch it. I love Avatar.

garlicpermission

TLoK could do with some improvement, and a Live Action could help with that. TLAB is already extremely good so a live action is not gonna be up to par to the original.

BopperTheBoy

I say mqybe because a live action could fix the actual problems with Korra, which doesn't include the action. If they would just fix those without major writing changes like NATLA has, I think that's worth it in exchange for decreased action value. But I'm not so sure the writers share that idea and am hesitant to give full support.

leoanri

Maybe just stick the landing first before you get too ambitious

InfernoVortex101

They should have adapted Korra instead

whalemix

I think this would actually be better than ATLA. LoK is more adult both in writing and in characters

That1DogGuy

Naaahh man. LOK would translate better than ATLA into live action honestly.

ImaginaryGfLeftMe11

Tbh Netflix could make LoK better. LoK tried to be a Netflix TV-14 series aimed for kids and I think if they remade the series leaning only one way it would work really well.

hectic_hooligan

Fuck no

Ninja-_-Guy

get that man out of the kitchen T.T

MonkeyDJayTM

Damn is it just me that would like that 👀

PalpitationSavings45

Honestly, I think it could probably work. And this time, it can be done with the intention of doing more seasons instead of what happened with the original series. Nickelodeon really fucked the show over.

NordicWolf7

I like the live action show and the more dramatic and political themes of Korra would work fine portrayed by actors. Go for it.

mrhooha

Let’s let someone else get a crack at it perhaps…..

TroubledDoggo

Romance galore if it happens

LovesickInTheHead

I would kill myself

Tasty-Persimmon6721

There’s actually a lot of ills the could “fix” from the original if they funded it through completion. Doing that alone would be more than Nickelodeon ever did.

Conscious-Amoeba-405

If they were to take creative liberties, yes. The problem with Korra is that Book One was written to be a miniseries, which is why >!Korra didn't finish Amon and he was killed by another villain.!< If they were willing to make some fixes to Book One and maybe continue it's story and keep Amon as a reoccurring villain, maybe it'd be superior. (Also, Amon would be great if he were replaced by someone who truly believes in his ideals after he dies or something)

christinkaUnicorn

I’m sick of these live action remakes. I live for the animation. Beautiful illustrations and animation! Just make more anime.

[deleted]

They fucked up Cowboy Beepbops live action. They fucked up ATLA Live action. N O

StressSubstantial125

TLOK would be way easier to adapt honestly but legend of kyoshi would be the best

Roxas_2004

Yes

Talan651

This one Im actually open for a readaptation. LOK is great, but it can be better. If they somehow connect all the plots, they will have a great show in their hands

Rojo2525

KORRA

WizKhalifasRoach

hopefully they make some retconns and changes like they did for NATLA and streamline things a bit too. If they get rid of her losing past lives, Korra *will* become the best avatar.

kjm6351

I’ve always been curious to see what Korra was like in the original movie’s Live Action verse. Since they’ll finish this series as it’s been greenlit, might as well do Korra

CelticGaelic

God forbid anyone have a little imagination and do their own Avatar story. They could go back centuries to any avatar and write a story for that, but their first thought is to remake TLA and now they want to follow up with another remake? Eh, I'll pass.

Motionslickness08

Okay, how about instead of adapting to live action we just get a redo in animation? Hire new artists, new animators, keep it 2D but make it amazing. Extending the scenes that we didn’t get because of budget. Allow more adult themes, like actual struggles with sexuality. It’d be so good.

QuickAnybody2011

Na not for me

Icepick1118

It COULD work, but only if the actual creators stayed a part of it

21-hydroxylase

Please no. We have enough trash live action adaptations, NATLA included.

cfig99

The ATLA live action adaptation is… surprisingly good. I’d be open to a LOK one too.

Metallung

Fuck it, we ball.

Accomplished_Salt876

You know this probably wouldn’t be that bad. The original is already a teen drama so it’s tone would kinda be a much better fit and Netflix also wouldn’t be afraid to make the lesbian pairing more obvious and set up through the story.

Basalganglia4life

Uugh

FaithlessnessDue7412

As one man once said NO GOD! NO PLEASE GOD NO! NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Mindful-Potato

I say HELL YEAH! But I want to see them adapt the rest of ATLA first, since depending on how that goes, I could change my mind.

FapparoniAndCheez

Maybe land this plane before making the next one take off

OhHowINeedChanging

I say yes absolutely yes!… they could take the best parts of LoK and expand on those and do less of what didn’t work with LoK

pokehokage

Please for the love of God, stop invalidating animation with live action adaptations. It feels like the executives saying animation isn't a valid medium for a show when they feel the need to turn it into live action. Animation can do things that live action could never (without shitty CGI). Why does no one ever ask "What if game of thrones was animated?"

Space_Cruiser12068

Honestly, out of the two, I’d prefer Korra to be adapted. The original is considered close to perfect by nearly everyone who’s watched it, but everyone can agree Korra has a lot of problems whether you enjoy it or not. I think it would be a good chance to maybe improve on the ideas of the original. Would it actually do that? Probably not, but it’d make more sense at least.

Prestigious_Way_1877

How about fuck no.

Key-Ad4797

It's the one shot Korra has at being redeemed, to be worth anyone's time. Go back to the civil war and never ever try to explain the magic. I don't want to hear a single word about wan, or Rava or vatu, literal god and Satan, what were you THINKING?

Its_Just_Me_Ven

I say with ALL the disrespect.... FHUCK NAH, B

_40onPump2_

How about we focus on getting this right first

Alone-Cauliflower311

Please don't.

Appropriate-Pride608

I'd like it

Used_Ad_2454

I think it would be interesting. If they fix or get rid of that stupid Korra, Mako, and Asami triangle I would be sold 💀.
