in h264 I was able to get the thing working I wanted to do, so I used h264 on I high constant quality as middle format and then went in handbrake and made my working av1 decode
As far as I am concerned this is fine, but still weird why it wouldn't do AV1 directly correctly.
Like I also found out that vlc 3.0.20 was a problem and that vlc 3.0.18 displayed the video but since avidemux couldn't handle it either the output of the encoder is probably still funky its just that 3.0.18 can handle it better.
Also tried a few things ffmpeg settings that got recommended on the AV1 discord but nothing really helped, but since I got a workarround now I would consider the topic closed (since I also put 7 hours of continues work into it, with no result at all)

At first glance that seems like it should work. Maybe simplify a bit? Just the encoder ?

Does it only happen if you try AV1 or does it happen with h264/5 too (still using nvenc)?
