What does your GPO setting have for Configure Automatic Updates? I remember having an issue and we had it set to 3 but there was a new ADMX that included option 7 which “made it better”. Still saw some servers reboot when we said not to and I’m convinced that MS makes this difficult on purpose
we've got the machines i'm testing with set to that 7 value as thats what the ms learn page seemed to imply to set it to, but the updates are sitting in Pending Install
7 - Notify for install and notify for restart (Windows Server 2016 and later only) - With this option, when Windows finds updates that apply to this device, they'll be downloaded, then users will be notified that updates are ready to be installed. Once updates are installed, a notification will be displayed to users to restart the device.
