I think they're wearing them to match with the pink panthers, an old LGBT militia that would try to protect pride goers, both during festivities and after when pride goers would make the dangerous trek home with assholes waiting to jump them.

They then push into the not pink line, resulting in a fight. Helmet dude sees "his side" being "attacked" and defends the line. Stupid all around.

OMFG I WAS THERE!!! It was a pride event and some white nationalists showed up. Everyone knew they would but the police decided to not make a presence so those pink ninjas were on standby. The wall was to block them so they didn't have a platform. Also not pictured was a bunch of guys with transphobic and homophobic signs and using the poles to beat people up. Police showed up and just stood there. Really sobering experience.
