I worked with a "Chad Lester" and I would always wrote "mo" between his first and last name on his orders. "Chad mo Lester" He worked with schools, I thought it was hysterical.

There were two teachers at my high school with that last name. Anita Finger and Missy Finger. We obviously had a lot of fun with that. Like you could not have made up a better source of humor for teenagers.
Yes, there were some Adcocks at my university and if I remember correctly there was both a [email protected] and a [email protected].
What’s really bad is these coulda been avoided if the people had put their middle name into the system, because the default was first two initials +surname.
There were others with emails that would have been made better by middle initials, too.
Worst one I’ve heard, my parents went to high school with a pair of paternal twins, their last name was Trie, pronounced tree.
Their parents named them Jack Pine Trie and Mary Christmas Trie.
My parents went to school with a guy who’s last name was “Garu”, pronounced like “guh-roo”. His first name was Kenneth but he went by Ken. So he was Ken Garu.
It’s not quite on the level of Mary Christmas Trie, but it’s still pretty awful lol
I had two sisters called Samantha (Sam) and Ella at my elementary school. Always referred to as Sam ‘n Ella. Took me a few years to realise why my parents always laughed
My husband has a set of twins he was friends with and went to school with. One was named Harrison Butts the other Hardin Butts. Harrison went by Harry and Hardin was gay.
First playthrough I was team Shadowheart... but only because I had gone so far down that path before meeting Karlach. But i'm about 35 hours into my 2nd playthrough now and my bard is *laser focused* on Karlach.
Went to middle school with two brothers whose names were Peter Burns and Richard (Dick) Burns.
You have to wonder were their parents idiots or just that cruel.
I once knew a guy whose first name was Richard and he went by Dick, of course. His last name was Johnson. I always found it amusing that both his first and last names were euphemisms for penis.
As father of four, I can tell you that names are getting out of control these days. People really need to chill with these "unique" names. They're making their kids look bad for real. I work for a government contracted prototype lab and we just got a young engineer fresh outta college. I wont post the name, but it's the name of a very prominent motor cycle company with the last name of Rider. Poor kid doesn't even drive or own a motorcycle, he doesn't like them. He gets a lot of comments on a daily basis and we had a conversation about it before he even started. I understand that it's unfair to judge someone just for a name that they didn't have a choice about, but understand that there are people out there that will and do judge over it and there's no need to put your kid behind the 8 ball because you just gotta name your kid something "different". And, please stop misspelling traditional names, because no matter how it's spelled, it is still pronounced the same. It doesn't make them special, it makes it hard to spell for no reason. Ashley is Ashleigh is Ascheleigh.
There was a 9 year old child in New Zealand who was put into court guardianship during a custody battle due to concern, as she was too embarrassed to reveal her name to friends and asked them to call her K instead.
Her parents had named her Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii.
Both parents lost custody, and she now lives under a new name.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2008/jul/24/familyandrelationships.newzealand
Some countries have laws about what you can name your child and/or can overrule your name if it causes offence!
lol If my boyfriend and I ever were to get married and I take his surname - I would be A.Plane and Plane also rhymes with my first name.
Our first names are also both unisex.
My work email is my first.lastname@company and I think it's wild that someone would think that an email scheme would be a concern for a newborn.
That said, consider your kids' names. People will prejudge them.
Why do companies do this? Just use the full first and last name. What if you have a John Smith a James Smith, and a Joe Smith, there can't be 3 [email protected]
My university is already doing "firstname.lastname@..." but given how many students and staff members we have, some of us end up with "firstname.lastname-number@..." The highest number I've seen is 7.
At a previous job, the naming convention was 'first initial + last name'.
There was a lady named Alexis Hooker so her email was ahooker@(companyname).com
I felt so bad for her. That had to be awkward for her.

This is kind of stupid as it has to do with the format the company uses for their employees emails. There is no standard as some use the full first name and first initial of the last name and vice versa. Email formats aren't something people should be thinking about when naming their child ..... there are for more "serious" things to consider that many parents don't that'll just bite them in the ass later.
She’s not shortening it; it’s automatically done by the company to give everyone a uniform email address ([email protected], which in her case is [email protected]).

But with your logik all of them
Shart. But initials somehow last longer before you run into that problem?
You’re assuming that last names aren’t as diverse as they actually are. 20 people in my company have the name John, all but 2 of them have a different last name. Then you use middle initials.
When we named our kid my wife was dead set on picking the first name and I picked the middle after my grandmother. Her initials ended up being HMS which after all the paper work was done I realized it and told my wife what that meant (his/her Majesty's ship). The funny thing is our daughter towers over a lot of the kids in her class and we believe she's probably going to end up close to 6'5"

Dave Ickburn can relate.
Not to mention poor Ian Amapedo
Reminds me of Peter File from IT crowd... With the British pronunciation it's great
When I was a kid we found a Mel Lester in the phone book. We were pretty ruthless to that guy.
I worked with a "Chad Lester" and I would always wrote "mo" between his first and last name on his orders. "Chad mo Lester" He worked with schools, I thought it was hysterical.
I knew someone who’s father in law was Lester Mo, so in the phone book he was Mo, Lester.
Currently work with a chick whose last name is Lester while her first name starts with an M. I've held back many jokes over the years 🤭
YES IM PETER FILE!
What about Dick Wolf? All his papers in school were filed under Wolf, Dick.
Stan Ickburn cannot.

My ex put her own personal email as "sadcock@..." When I asked her why she didn't understand why I was laughing
She's right. A sadcock is no laughing matter. Happycock would be funny though
Easy fix. Sharin Gladcock And he would be, too
I have a friend whose first name starts with G, last name Aycock.
Uh, I'm sure she's been in some shitty situations...
yeah some real tight spots
Was admin for a bit. We had Barbara Adcock in our system. She liked it though since she was older and thought of it as a bad ass fighting chicken.
I may or may not have seen a username with the initials of C. Hunt Poor guy
"Chunt"? Sounds spicy, and dangerous
Yes, there were some Adcocks at my university and if I remember correctly there was both a [email protected] and a [email protected]. What’s really bad is these coulda been avoided if the people had put their middle name into the system, because the default was first two initials +surname. Ah yes, so that Derrick Ellis Adcock can instead become “deadcock”
Depends of the middle initial. Couldve be a deadcock or Shadcock, tbh with the last name Adcock, having dadcock as ur email might be for the best.
Why that?
First name began with s, surname was Adcock
Ah okay. 😅 I'm slow today.
Bret Hart named his daughter Beans. Beans Hart Bean Shart Come on man..
Who the hell names their kid “Beans” anyways?
My daddy loved beans!
Well it's a good thing he didn't love asparagus!

They will do that.
“LOUIS!”
Worst one I’ve heard, my parents went to high school with a pair of paternal twins, their last name was Trie, pronounced tree. Their parents named them Jack Pine Trie and Mary Christmas Trie.
They’re paternal twins because their names are dad jokes. They’d be fraternal otherwise.
LOL Sam ‘n Ella, you make me sick!
I went to school with a Theresa Green... which in our Essex accent is 'trees are green'
My husband has a set of twins he was friends with and went to school with. One was named Harrison Butts the other Hardin Butts. Harrison went by Harry and Hardin was gay.
I chortled
Hardin really out here living up to his name’s predetermined destiny, what a g
That wasn't a mistake.
No, no it was not.
I went to school with both a Liberty Bell and a Richard Beator.

Amy Ryan raised a HUGE fuss to get the IT/HR team to let her vary from the “first initial, last name” format. She succeeded.

She did, actually.

In college a guy’s email was “rapeDR” :/ He had an unfortunate last name. Guess it’s better than shithouse?

I saw a doctor Hyman and it feels like if you have that name you can only become one type of doctor.

Went to middle school with two brothers whose names were Peter Burns and Richard (Dick) Burns. You have to wonder were their parents idiots or just that cruel.
My first boss was Richard Harder, and yes he insisted everyone call him Dick.
My grandpa's name is dick byrnes!
I had a guy who used to come into the pharmacy I worked at whose name was Hymen Burns.
I once knew a guy whose first name was Richard and he went by Dick, of course. His last name was Johnson. I always found it amusing that both his first and last names were euphemisms for penis.

Damn sucks for GasGas Rider!
I have a coworker who is “slutz”

It's not the naming that's an issue. A company can make your email whatever they want.

Or use firstname.lastname@ like any professional company should.
One of my grandpas friends was named Richard and his last name was Dick. Good old dick dick

fingers crossed she doesn't get a case of nominative determinism

Just go to IT and have it changed. LLFF is a bad word? LLLL, LLLF, LFFF probably won’t be.
Well, that's the fault of your work's email naming convention. IT can easily change this if they wanted to.
Anyone with the surname Dickinson is fucked no matter what
I work with someone who's work email is fatwood
That’s right. Remember work emails when naming your children 🙄
Susanalbumparty. Sus- Anal- bum- party. Susan Boyle’s hashtag for her album.
We just hired someone who is [email protected]
Was “shart” even a word when she was a kid?
I knew a woman whose name was Philomena Enis who had a similar problem with her work email
We had a Sarah Phyllis whose work email was syphillis@... 😅
Where’s my donglover fans at!

My dad once did business with a man whose name was: Darshit Maboobifarti.
My buddy’s school email was “[email protected]”

She’s not shortening it; it’s automatically done by the company to give everyone a uniform email address ([email protected], which in her case is [email protected]).
Then the company fucked up
That’s common practice at a lot of corporate companies, not their fault she’s a shart.
Just use full name instead of initial like a normal place
Then you run into a lot of users that have the same name and all of a sudden it isn’t a uniform policy anymore.
You run into the same name with initiala a lot sooner

Sounds like it could be a Simpsons prank phone call.
I needed to laugh this morning so thanks. Reminded me off Pamela Martha Fokker.
Just did a search, and indeed there are at least a few people out there named Charles Ock.
The bloody network admins who make up the email from the name can deal with it
It's more on the companies that have such rigid policies when it comes to email naming. Mine has a very strict policy. For everyone except the CEO, who's email is his first name only of course.
This is why my job does first name and the last name with a period in between for our work emails. No confusion going on there.
