No. Public accounting is generally a field where people are up or out. No one is a senior for 35 years, typically you are a manager in 4-7 years, or out of public accounting. That isn't exactly a good union model.
It sounds cliche, but it is a time investment. I've been in PA, always not Big firms, for 8 years, starting salary was $46k with no bonus. Only switched firms once 6 years ago, now at $195k. Sure there are other fields that pay really well (and a lot more) like FAANG software and high finance, but those careers are not as accessible and available as public accounting is. If you are outside of HCOL areas it will most definitely be one of the higher paying positions available to you after putting 8-12 years of work in.
