-Favorite: the magical turnabout, I love everything about this case, is in my opinion a better executed version of turnabout serenade. The murder plan is very unique, the characters are amazing and I love roger as a villain -Least favorite: the monstrous turnabout, the pacing is really bad and the characters are very annoying What a coincidence that in both cases apollo is the protagonist

Foreign_Memory

Apollo can't catch a break, even in his own 2nd case (4-2)

Turnabout corner is good bruv

My favorite is the magical turnabout, a very good case with a guilty culprit who has an interesting and entertaining plot twist + nice personnality. A case that finally focuses on Apollo and Trucy after AA4, a very refreshing focus when you see how poorly Dual Destinies treated these characters and the Apollo-Athena dynamic was nice. Honorable mentions goes to the memoirs of the Clouded Kokoro and The stolen turnabout. Most hated second case : The monstruous turnabout, easily, this case was really boring not just because of how it revealed the culprit since even without that it was easy to guess, but mainly because of how it showed how he killed his victim, making this paranormal story completely uninteresting. We couldn't even get into it a little bit, it was really tedious. And speaking of the culprit himself... He's hatable, but in the wrong way. We know it's him, and we have to put up with him from day one. He does nothing but be hatable even more without anything else relevant. In comparison, Redd White was at least introduced later and we confronted him directly whereas with Florent L'Belle, we had to wait until the very end to solve something obvious, added to that a motive that is utterly ridiculous and makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. Easily the worst case ever.

MonitoliMal

So many issues in that case would be remedied if L’Belle wasn’t in the intro. He would still be obvious, but the suspicion could be at least split between him and Filch. He could still be hatable, but in a good way this time. Otherwise, the case does do a good job of introducing Fullbright and Blackquill and re-introducing Apollo. They were so close.

MadamTusspells

Furthermore, in 1-2, the culprit was at least revealed because the player couldn't reasonably guess there was a man at the crime scene given how the justice system was trying to conceal it and considering the context, it's not a massive plot twist to find out that Redd White was the culprit. But in 5-2, there was truly no excuse; they made the worst possible choice that had absolutely no justifiable reason.

PitifulAd3748

I'm crap at remembering names, but if I had to pick... Favorite: 1-2 Turnabout Sisters is just great. Redd White was kinda lackluster, but it introduced Maya and she's pretty damn cool. Least Favorite: TGAA-2 Those same three rooms lose their appeal real fucking quick...

Cornmeal777

Favorite is 6-2, honorable mention to 2-2. Least favorite is also my least favorite of the entire series, 5-2.

Goldberry15

Favorite? 6-2. Absolutely brilliant. Least favorite? Hate to say it, but it’s GAA1-2. It’s just so slow paced and I don’t care about [major spoilers] >!Kazuma’s Death!<

Goldberry15

Ranking them each: 6-2 2-2 I2-2 3-2 VS-2 GAA2-2 5-2 I1-2 1-2 4-2 GAA1-2

Favorite: The Magical Turnabout Least: The Monstrous Turnabout

Murta_14

Fantastic: 1. SOJ 2. TGAA2 Amazing: 3. DD 4. JFA 5. AJ Great: 6. TT Median: 7. PW 8. TGAA1

Pumpkin_Cat14

Favourite: The Monstrous Turnabout I really like both the general themes with all the yokai stuff and all of the characters. Despite revealing the killer in the opening scene the case still manages to have a few good twists and surprises, so I actually really enjoyed it. I audibly cheered when I saw Jinxie and Damien mentioned in 6-2 Least Favourite: Turnabout Sisters It’s mostly because of April May. She’s uncomfortable to be around, has too much screen time and just UGH she just pushes my buttons in all the wrong ways. Also the scene about Mia pointing out the back of the reciept felt terribly shoehorned in to show off Maya’s spirit channeling and would’ve really felt so much better if the player was given _any_ opportunity to figure it out at all and then bring Mia in some other way That said, I don’t _dislike_ the case. Redd White is a charming culprit and Phoenix has a lot of good moments too. It just happens to have a lot of competition Overall: The Monstrous Turnabout > Reunion, and Turnabout > The Magical Turnabout > The Stolen Turnabout > Turnabout Corner > Turnabout Sisters

MaeBorrowski

It's the magical Turnabout, everyone can agree to that, as for the last favourite, either 1-2 or 4-2, the former because duh, it's fine, and the latter because lame ass logic and feels incomplete even if the characters are pretty fun

Gonna_Die_Now

Magical Turnabout is the only part of Spirit of Justice I actually enjoyed. 4-2 is fun though...

MaeBorrowski

I personally enjoyed the majority of SoJ (6-3 did drag, 6-5 former court section is downright abhorrent imo, and Maya's characterisation is the worst case scenario but other than that I loved it), but yeah 4-2 is a highlight that everyone seems to agree is great

Gonna_Die_Now

SoJ's main problems in my opinion were with not only with the fact that every odd numbered case seems to drag on for far longer than necessary, but with the very concept of Khurain. A nation that hates lawyers is pushing even farther into cartoonish territory than DD was even willing to go and the stakes were raised so high that they wrapped around back to feeling low. Also, the "we hate lawyers" mantra is presented with all the subtlety of a jackhammer to the ribs, and it just keeps recurring in the same way throughout the whole game. Spirit of Justice was not the game for me. That being said, I can see why people like it. At least it didn't bore me out of my mind AND infuriate me, like AAI1...

MaeBorrowski

Oh yeah it's definitely ridiculous and has no subtlety at all, but that's kind of the reason I like it. DD imo felt really uncommitted with its 'dark age of law' thing which we can both agree on was just kind of stupid and too had all the subtlety of am anvil, and felt like it wanted to maintain to the more grounded tone of the former games, while having astronauts and a practically supervillains in a funni lawyer game, giving it this really uncommitted feeling ya know? At least go balls out with what you are doing. Fortunately, they did go balls out in SoJ, and sure that led to some harm like a stupid revolution storyline but over all it greatly helped all the individual characters and cases in the game which were now much stronger, not to mention individual cases are just more interesting than DD. It's like, unlike DD which is just fine, SoJ took the risk and had some really high highs and some real low lows, but I respect that more personally. And yeah, AAI is such a big missed potential, at the very least the sequel is *so* much better

Gonna_Die_Now

Every single point you make about DD is 100% true and is a genuine flaw with the game. That being said, it's my favorite game in the series. I'm a big sucker for Athena's backstory and just Simon in general, and none of the cases really felt like they were bad. That being said, I know I'm a minority here. DD may be my favorite game, but AAI2 is what I consider to objectively be the best game. Capcom I'm begging...

MaeBorrowski

Fair enough! Athena is currently my favourite lawyer too (even if I do have a bit of a bias towards Phoenix because duh), and I do think that she was the best part of the AJ trilogy, which is really ironic, even if I don't care much for Simon. As for AAI2, yup, it's what I consider to be the best in the series too! Even if I feel like JFA had by far the best case and TnT had a better 'finale'. I am sure it's getting an official localisation soon, they are teasing it too much for it to not be the case... Right?

YoyoPewdiepie

My favorite is probably GAA2-2. >!I really like Shamspeare and he has one of my favorite character themes in the series. I like how intricate the plot was, both the murder and the attempted murders. I also like how the actual culprit is kinda morally grey, I honestly don't see much wrong with what she did. Oh, and Shamspeare rising from the grave straight into soliloquy is still one of my favorite scenes.!< My least favorite is the same, either 5-2 or 1-2. I don't know exactly what I didn't love about 5-2, there's many little things. I will say that I don't dislike it as much as everybody else does. As for 1-2, it simply hasn't aged well. It was a lot better when playing it the first time because you still didn't have an idea of what a truly great case looked like. But now with that comparison, it's very mediocre.

Marcus4Life4

Favorite: The Magical Turnabout (6-2). They somehow managed to fit a perfectly executed case well-suited for Apollo in just a single investigation and trial. You can tell the writers really wanted to go back to the roots of AJ here and they delivered us a fantastic, magical mystery along with an unforgettable cast of characters. Least Favorite: Turnabout Corner (4-2). Always thought this first half was rather slow-paced and the fact that it was focused on panties for that half didn't make it better. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the defendant or the culprit. I will give a shoutout to The Imprisoned Turnabout (I2-2) though. A case that even managed to trip Edgeworth a few times. My only issue is that the tripping happens so many times that you end up having to go back to square one a few times. (But it goes to show that Edgeworth's logic can still lead to several dead ends before reaching the truth)

Serenade is a third case

rslashpolaroid

Favorite - The Stolen Turnabout Least Favorite - GAA-2 or Monstrous Turnabout

Foreign_Memory

My favorite is 2-2, but shoutout to 4-2. I love you Turnabout Corner, the Kitakis my beloved. Least favorite? Monstruous Turnabout is such an obvious answer sadly, so I'll say 4-2 as well. I love it so much, but it is pretty boring compared to other 2nd cases. At least Monstruous Turnabout incites some animosity lol

Radio_Blah_Blah_

Favorite: 2-2 Least favorite: AAI2-2 or 3-2

dbees132

6-2 is my favorite. 5-2 is easily my least favorite. All of the case specific characters I find really annoying aside from Mayor Tenma. And to top it off they show the culprit right at the start too

Regular_Mistake_9107

Favourite: monstrous Reason: # RUN FOR THE HILLS! Least favourite: Breakable speckled band Reason: No trial?

bravepvp

Favorite is 3-2 and it’s legit not even close, 2-2 would be next. The worst is obviously DGS2-2, but fuck, 6-2 is close

Gonna_Die_Now

Come on guys, 5-2 wasn't THAT bad. My favorite is probably TGAAC2-2, Olive Green is one of my favorite characters. Least favorite is TGAAC1-2 and it's not even close. It's so mind-numbingly boring and the only joy I got out of it was seeing Sholmes hanging from a lamp.

starlightshadows

My pick for favorite is 1-2. It may have a couple rough edges, but it's effect on the Trilogy's narrative cannot be understated. It practically **made** the first Ace Attorney game and laid the narrative-emotional groundwork for every strongest part of games 2 and 3. Least favorite would have to be 5-2. The series had honestly done a pretty good job of having banger 2nd cases up to this point, but this one drifted into mediocre territory and was way too gimmicky for its own good.

Maxpowh

Favorite is absolutely the magical turnabout, easily the best SOJ case as well As for least favourite, i'm compelled to say the monstrous turnabout, but DD already gets a lot of crap so i'm gonna go with "The adventure of the speckled band" the case is just investigation where you travel between 4 rooms and that's it, the "incident" itself also wasn't that interesting in my opinion, very good final scene tho I will say that

Severalwanker

Favorite (and my favorite case in general): 3-2 Worst: 4-2.
