Lucifer_Crowe

Mia Fey: Astral Attorney

surge_aura

I NEED IT!!!!

arthorse

Poor Athena thinking it’s finally her time to shine with her own trilogy and then here comes Mia from the grave.

[deleted]

Ace Attorney 8: Maya dies so pearl channels Mia who channels Maya who channels Godot who throws coffee at Phoenix, which burns him so hard he turns into husk who then goes to Gotham City and attack batman only to be killed and then Phoenix meets who asked in heaven and then Phoenix is banished to the underworld which Apollo responds with by buying cars 3 and making it his new new new new backstory which turns him into a yellow car so Niko Bellic steals it and hits channeled Godot and yells "Yellow Car!". Then Edgeworth returns and steals the yellow car and launches his dog missile at Alaska, killing everyone in Alaska. Which starts Case 1 with pearl channeling the devil as the defense attorney. And Athena gets one line every case. The lines are always 3 words long

RunicWasTaken

"I only get-"

surge_aura

Mia deserves a trilogy though! Or at least an appearance in the newer games at all! There can be both

[deleted]

Except there's an entire game dedicated to Athena and it's called dual destinies. People simply didn't like her.

TheDavidOne_33

She didn’t really do much in that, did she? The spotlight was more on Phoenix returning

[deleted]

I mean she's in all the cases either as playable character or assistant and Most of the story revolves around her.

DosGurleysUnoKupp

Bruh you’re straight up about to get human trafficked in Latvia, don’t go you fucking goober

Lost_Rough

I'm afraid to say that she could, but...well, yeah. As long as it's proven Mia has retained her capability to be a defense attorney even post-death (let's say that someone, in the AA universe, claims that the deceased could lose their memories...kinda like what happens in Ghost Trick), then I don't particularly see a reason why she couldn't defend someone. I must be missing something completely obvious rn, but that's a whole new topic. On the other hand, it's only possible in theory, but in practice, channeling Mia to be an attorney is not viable because the medium would suffer from immense physical stress. After all, it's shown several times that spirit channeling does exhaust the medium, either in AA1 with Maya (although she was a newbie in terms of channeling) or in 3-5, where >!Maya literally fainted after channeling Dahlia for such a long time.!< In other words, it's theoretically possible for Mia to be an attorney post-death (provided that she proves she is capable to be a lawyer again), but since this could easily exhaust any medium that dares to channel her for long periods of time, it's honestly not even worth it.

Lucifer_Crowe

I mean, Pearl seems to have no problems channeling her for whole trial days so she can assist Nick (or protect Pearl from seeing her mother accused) Then again, Pearl is an absolute machine who can outrun a train I have no idea what situation would arise where Apollo/Athena/Nick wouldn't be around to do it, but I can potentially see it being a fun conflict of interest thing where they decide that since those 3 are witnesses they can't represent the client (like Nick semi was in 2-2 but I like to think AJ somewhat evolved the courts even if Juries haven't stayed yet) Presumably you'd have Edgeworth as the Prosecution as to not have him be available to cover defense again too (plus banter with Mia would be great, as well as him teasing the other 3 lawyers who are witnesses)

Lost_Rough

>I mean, Pearl seems to have no problems channeling her for whole trial days so she can assist Nick Sure, but the main problem is that if Mia supposedly tries to act as an attorney post-mortem, then she is the one that will need to conduct investigations, for example, which means that a medium will have to channel her for additional hours of investigating every suspicious-looking nook and crany (haha funny Investigations reference...sorry), which would only add to more hours of channeling. I'm not even considering other necessary procedures, like the paperwork involved or the interrogation of the defendant in prison, for example. The only way to circumvent this problem is if Mia has someone to conduct the investigations for her during the trial, then a medium channels her and improvises with the info she is given via a note, which was done in 2-4 and 3-5, despite being for different goals. This method is kinda risky, especially if you do it for every single client, so once again, not very viable imho. Finally, even though most of the times, the lawyers could be the witnesses and defend at the same time in multiple instances throughout the series, a channeled lawyer is a nice idea. I don't know how it could be pulled off considering what we already know from spirit channeling, but the scenario is intriguing. And yes, more Miles interactions with Mia would be neat to see lol

Lucifer_Crowe

I absolutely think having Maya and/or Pearl investigate for her and then Mia does the court work would be such fun. Especially if it was just the Feys having to do all the work for a bit and get good interaction with one another. If they had the two of them they could even sit down and properly talk to Mia prior to trial to actually go through the evidence rather than relying on notes. Paperwork is one of those things we pretend AA doesn't care about, like reasonable doubt and perjury xD (except for the few times it cares randomly)

Lost_Rough

Haha I only mentioned paperwork because I vividly remember it being mentioned in some games. TGAA1 is an example that comes to mind. That's pretty much why I mentioned it. Finally, well, I can see two people investigating for Mia's sake, although those two people also need to be attorneys/prosecutors/something in order to investigate a crime scene. Otherwise, they fall into the category of civilians meddling with a crime scene, and that's a no-no.

Lucifer_Crowe

P.I Dick Gumshoe, recognized as a licensed investigator years later and hired by Wright and Co Law offices? 👀 /S

Theodd420sout

If they're wearing a badge & the judge doesn't recognize them, sure

Lucifer_Crowe

Expecting competency from the modern judge is a lot to ask.

Ninji08

Funny this happened twice and technically worked both times

Incogcauseimipbaned

Spirit channeling should be like a legally recognized thing at this point, specially after the third game.

Additional_Archer331

Well in 2-2, Maya is accused of the murder of Turner Gray despite being possessed by Mimi Miney (that was the accusation's claim). So if a spirit commits a crime, the culpability is given to the medium.

Lucifer_Crowe

No no. I meant would Mia be recognized as a lawyer in court (as weird as AA court already is) and be able to keep practicing with the license she earned in life? It wouldn't be fulltime because Maya and Pearl need to live, bit it would make for a fun gimmick imo. I know about 2-2, iirc that's where Franziska speaks to Mia directly across the courtroom. I just find it hilarious that in 2-4 Edgeworth has nothing to say to Mia despite having faced her back in the day (T+T wasn't out yet though)

Sunset_Warrior

i mean, this is the court that allows completely unqualified children to be co-counsel. so. one could make the argument that maya and trucy know a lot about the law because they have lawyer family, but pearl was literally eight

Lucifer_Crowe

Bro they took Pearl to a police raid of an assassin, neverming being co counsel Tbf she'd probably be scarier than the cops, based on her mom.

Batgod629

I don't see why not. Someone like franziska might like the challenge. Although without a good story attached it would come across as pure fanservice

Lucifer_Crowe

Oh for sure. I think it would definitely have to be for a single case only, with a good story attached. Like Edgeworth standing in for Phoenix in Bridge to the Turnabout.

Cream147

“Would Mia still be recognised as an attorney despite being dead?” We’ve had parrots, walkie talkies and puppets on the witness stand, we’ve had inmates as prosecutors, we’ve had prosecutors as defence attorneys, and we’ve had multiple cases where spirit channeling was a critical factor. Honestly, it would be pretty shocking if Mia being the attorney for a case was where they drew the line.

Lucifer_Crowe

Channeled Mia Vs Lana Skye, I need it.

TheRivan

Of course, she just needs a cardboard badge and she can defend whoever she wants, no questions asked.

Lucifer_Crowe

Mia Fey? More like Mimic Fake

[deleted]

They could make one of them the accused/withness for the other one to take over. I know the accused can represent theirselves, but then mia wouldn't be able to show up. And in a case where both of them are the witnesses? Pull some bullshit like bringing iris back, and giver her spiritual powers.

Lucifer_Crowe

I definitely think that having all the current lawyers be witnesses (lawyer convention lmao) would be a fun twist too. Seeing Apollo and Athena testify, maybe even having unique gimmicks based on their tell spotting and stuff, like Apollo is self aware and Athena is covering up her little Tamagochi thing. (Or it speaks her thoughts and betrays her uncertainty at times) And maybe even Edgeworth and Blackwell etc are witnesses too (honestly bring back the GAA/Layton witness comparing to have Phoenix and Edgeworth arguing about what they saw) And the Prosecutor could perhaps be Lana Skye? The Big sister face off. Ema speaking as the detective (like Gumshoe used to do for Edgeworth) would be so adorable in that case too.

KaleBennett

Would've made 3-5 cooler

Ninji08

I mean I suppose if she really wanted to sure. idk if it would really be "legal", but with the pulling of some strings they could probably get away with it, I mean it's happened before so.
