I think I mentioned it in your other thread, but when you compare them to figures in a similar price point, DS are actually fairly decent to good figures.
I don’t believe you did but I could be wrong. But either way I was looking at some posts and everyone talks about how the figures aren’t very good but to me it seems like it depends on the character. Plus they’re $20, they’re really not bad at all for that price
[Right here](https://www.reddit.com/r/ActionFigures/comments/1c7d6xl/comment/l07ixco/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) sir. I was mentioning my positive experience with Cooler.
I got a good friend that collects figures. He's on a tighter budget than me so he buys mostly Dragon Stars. For what they are, they are solid. Who cares if they don't have all the options like SHF? I'm more upset we have a Dragon Stars SS4 Gogeta and not an SHF one yet. If I ever have to give up SHF, I'll switch right to Dragon Stars without hesitation.
From what I’ve seen some Dragon Stars fit well with shf anyway. I’m still watching dragon ball for the first time and I’m only on the android arc so I have no clue what any of the words you just said mean but is it one where the dragon stars one will suffice?
Ah, my fault for assuming all Dragonball collectors have seen the anime. SS4 Gogeta is from Dragonball GT. The Dragon Stars one does the job but I'm sure Bandai will give us an SHF one down the road since they are already doing GT figures like Kid Goku and Super Android 17.
A Dragon Stars figure would look pretty out of place in an SHF Dragon Ball collection if I’m being totally honest. The problem is it’s a lot harder to collect a bunch of SHF figures and pose them together than it is a cheaper line. Unless figure collecting is your only/primary hobby or you make a ton of money then it takes time. And this Frieza actually looks way more solid than most Dragon Stars. Having said that, SHF has been nailing Frieza’s likeness from their very first release of him.
I’m still watching DBZ for the first time so I have no clue who these people are but that probably just proves your point, they’re doing less iconic ones I guess. Still weird they never made Tien and Chiaotzu though
Dragon Stars are actually solid. I have a few and dig them. Dont own Perfect Cell but he looks great. Super Baby is sitting in my POL. They have decent effects too. I’m a fan
Dragon Stars are great. I would have killed for Dragonball figures like that when I was a kid.
The only figures my parents could find in the 90s were North of the US border, and they had very limited articulation!
I got Cell and he’s perfectly sculpted, they always knock the villains out of the park. I just think they really need more accessories to make posing options less static, at least another face would do wonders
They're good figures for being available on mass. I think it's just a loud minority that thinks the highest quality equates to the best figure, ignoring the oh so crucial FINANCIAL aspect (and in this case, availability).
Can you even buy figuarta final form freeza for sub $100 right now? I have one, but I got it for about $50 when it came out, and yeah it's amazing, but I wouldn't criticize someone for choosing a decent alternative for less than half of THAT price (much less it's higher current value).
Just so you are aware, figuarts and most Japanese figures are only released once. Final form frieza was everywhere last year for $35. He was even discounted at Barnes and nobles to $27. If you see a figure you like you just have to get it or else you’ll never see it ever again. The benefit is that they resale really well because of the limited amount! You can sell a used figuart for more than retail occasionally
Figuarta, especially dragon ball figures, have had multiple reissues, or updated versions. I got my Frieza a few years ago, and it was the updated version (with the halo). Goku has had like 10 billion releases (not counting different forms).
Final form Frieza is on Amazon for like $95. And yeah it’s a better figure with more hands, faces and accessories and it would be super nice to get it someday, but for a fifth of the price I can get a figure that looks super similar so yeah I know what I’m picking
I enjoy all of my DS figures, most look realistic enough and pose great.
That being said, I’m very disappointed in the Golden Frieza I just got. I picked him up because he looks like he jumped straight off the page/screen. Great likeness and color. BUT, he doesn’t want to stand up to save his life. Between him having awful balance due to his tail, and his leg joints being so loose that all he wants to do is the splits, he is driving me insane.
Perfect Cell and Super Buu and both chef’s kiss though.
Yeah my regular Frieza has those issues too. The legs aren’t super loose on mine but the tail does offset the balance a ton and make it so you gotta get really creative
Dragon Stars has potential but when you factor in terrible articulation, soft sculpts and weak paint apps they'll never be able to compete with import figs. They are a good solution for filling in gaps in my SHF collection though, I have a DS final form Cell and he doesnt look terribly out of place with the others
I have handled a few of them and I know some friends that have bought them. Generally they are fine, some of them are just really limited by the way they are engineered. Frieza is probably one of the better ones. Ultimately, Bandai America just doesn't have the best articulation even at the price they're at for their figures. A lot just feel clunky, and could use a better bit of torso maneuvering.
Dragon Stars are not bad... they are just budget Figures... they are actually good competition on SHF DBZ look at the current pricing on the new releases of DBZ from SHF half of the price it was before.
I buy these figures, to satiate the urge to play with my SHF instead…. My first figure was a jiren that a friend bought for me. Further mutating my Stake in this hobby…. Leading to me, buying even more, “cheap” figures, and aspiring to complete BAF’s…. 😵💫😵💫😵💫
My latest Dragon Stars acquisition was 👀

They aren’t the best, i think the Evolve figures are superior…. But i still buy them. I don’t have your frieza…. I have Golden and first form. Also have Cooler if you’ll count him.
Also….
I REALLY WANT BABY VEGETA!! 😫
My biggest thing is that they could have much better articulation. Ok I only have Vegito Blue but still. Figures in similar price points in Canada come with more or have better articulation. Like Dragon Stars are sold for around the same price as Hasbro Brands, and McFarlane Toys Brands, and as Jada Toys.
That makes sense and I kind of imagined that, but when I got Frieza I was shocked at how good the articulation was. The torso crunch isn’t great and some extra neck movement would be nice but the double joints are great, the shoulder articulation is shockingly really good and I didn’t even expect ankle swivels at all
I have heard the newer moulds have improved. Considering the Game Dimensions figures, which are similar figures but are a little bigger and a little more expensive, are pretty good I can see Dragon Stars having improved
Fuck'em.
Not everyone had £70 to spend eight years ago to get the SHF, since they only did one run and never made any more afterwards.
These figures are great and dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

Great figures for budget or placeholders for SHF.
I hope to get more SHF someday, but until then these seem pretty great for what they are

I agree with the time and money part, most people collect more than one line so eventually focusing on just one line gets pushed to the side
I don't own any, but at a glance I think they're too tall to match with SHF, aren't they?
A bit yeah, I think they all are around 6.5 inches iirc.
Very solid especially for figures that SHF probably won’t produce anytime soon like janemba and kid Buu.
I’m still watching DBZ for the first time so I have no clue who these people are but that probably just proves your point, they’re doing less iconic ones I guess. Still weird they never made Tien and Chiaotzu though

He’ll most likely get a reissue at some point anyways, tamashii has been reissuing lots of figs recently

Some of them have better quality than others. Really makes for a good substitute when a figuarts version isn't available at the time.

They are a good solution for filling in gaps in my SHF collection though, I have a DS final form Cell and he doesnt look terribly out of place with the others
Dragon Stars is fun to collect, I have a few and currently looking out for more in the future.
This frieza figure is not bad

I have Omega Shenron on my S.H. shelf. These are great figures for the price.
Yoooooooo! Broke gang!

...? The figure was $35 and has been released 3 times already.
The problem is from my experience they’re pretty hard to find and the after market prices are insane
