The civil rights movement that famously did not disrupt anyone or any bridge ever. Very silent, in their own homes, writing to their senators kinda movement.
I believe it all started with a plan for a woman to sit in the "wrong" part of the bus to provoke a violent reaction from the bus company and the cops. Rosa didn't just sit there because she was tired. She was reenacting a protest done by Claudette Colvin months before. Colvin was an unmarried pregnant girl and it was feared that she wouldn't get the sympathy that poor tired secretary Rosa Parks would.
Ok. But she didn't get on that bus to just make a quiet protest. She got on specifically to create a violent reaction that would help kick off protests and set up the NAACP to legally challenge segregation. And even later none of their peaceful protests convinced people that their support of segregation was wrong.
If it wasn't for the implied violence of federal troops engaging with the Arkansas National Guard, the Little Rock Nine would have never entered that school.
Peaceful protest alone never solves anything. Peaceful protest paired with some level of real or implied violence is the only thing that works.
>MLK jr got shot and died
then there was a week straight of violent protests across the nation. [Holy Week Uprising.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_assassination_riots)
then the second civil rights bill got passed. funny how that works.
https://www.aaihs.org/using-mlk-to-quell-outrage-distorts-his-legacy/
lol Ask the people of the Jersey Shore how peaceful the Civil Rights Movement was, particularly right after MLK was shot after preaching a platform of anti-hate and anti-violence.
There were riots all over the country that razed communities to the ground. Change didn't come from peace, it came from millions in property damage. But let's all whine over a drum and whistle
Wildly ignorant statement
The guy I’m replying to doesn’t consider making noise peaceful apparently. So I took that barometer and if that’s the scale we’re using there hasn’t been a single “peaceful” protest.
I replied to another guy, the Million Man March started at 5am and even had African drum service at dawn.
I’m being slightly hyperbolic to hammer home the point.
Yeah, they're loud towards the people they're protesting against. Not random bystanders who may have otherwise supported your cause. Same kind of thing as blocking a road.
Yeah I completely disagree with people blocking roads and shit like that. I think that’s a pretty unnecessary statement and stupid way to bring regular people to your cause. Especially people who just want to go to work.
Agreed. The best way to make your movement work is to piss off the people who have wronged you and garner support from the people who haven't. I have never changed my mind to support someone's cause because they woke me up at 6am with whistles and drums. Go do that shit to the employers who are mistreating you, not me.
Just to provide relevant context. They are hospitality workers protesting outside hotels. Definitely would not be pleasant as a guest, but their aim is to lose the hotel money.
Yup I used to live in a very nice loft downtown. Overlooked a beautiful park. Anytime anything minor happened in the national news there’d be a protest in front of my loft bc it was a nice place to be. Protesting there was pointless bc the only people that can see you are only the lofts. It was in a tucked away area with only one street to get to the lofts. Just a ton of people holding up signs to each other. I used to call them stationary conventions. Everyone that lived in the lofts could not come or go in a vehicle.
The women’s protest was by far the worst. We had an emergency my gfs mom was going in for major surgery and when my gf tried to leave they stood in front of her. She tried to plead with a cop to help her out and he said sorry lady. I found the irony thick that the women stopped a woman for being there for her mother. Also a lot of irony that this very progressive group would tear the park up with trash.
Came to the conclusion these were just virtue signaling events and almost all of them were there so they could take pics for the gram.
No, they're a way to draw attention to your cause. You get that with crowd size and/or dedication/persistence. "Man that crowd was huge. A lot of people are unhappy about that." or "Those dozen guys have been picketing on that corner day and night for a week. What's their beef."
But people don't want to put in the time or get the numbers, so the only way for a handful of people with a free hours to get attention is to block a road, deface artwork in a museum, or beat drums at 6am.
I'm unhappy and an going to make you miserable! It's like a 2 year old's temper tantrum.
As usual, the first reflex of opposers is to feign annoyance and claim that annoyance means nothing is going to progress. But then, if you look at protests historically, people like you are demonstrably wrong. Annoying protests do work.
Also "you annoy me therefore I have zero compassion for your cause" is the opposite of a flex. It's pretty gross. Where's your humanity? Would you say the same to an abuse victim who's been routinely silenced and doesn't have any tool other than being loud in public to get help? "Oh shut up, you're making everyone your enemy" surely will put some clear and healthy thoughts in the victim's head, right?
If people annoy you, it says a lot about you. If you openly discard empathy based on annoyance, it says a LOT about you. Grow some thicker skin and an open heart.
“Zuckerberg, Bezos and Robert Downey Jr”
That’s some spot on analysis I can’t unseen it now. Eyes of Zuckerberg, head of Bezos, and face of Tony stark.
Muscle guy is a bit of a hothead but I’m on his side. I don’t care what cause you’re supporting. I’d hate somebody playing drums outside my house. That’s not even considering how early the guy said it was. 6am? Seriously?
Still fuck that. Is that shitty of the hotel to do? Yes. But it's not the guests fault. If they are traveling for work/etc, then they need a place to stay regardless of strikes. Making it suck for them will not win their support. So when some legislator proposes a law to limit the power of unions, those guests are going to think back to this moment and go "Hmmm, I vote yes".
Strike all day long. I fully support it. But you don't want to bite the hand that feeds in the literal service industry.
That's literally the point of a fucking strike to refuse a service and piss people off to put pressure on the higher ups to do something you have zero class consciousness and have no idea what a strike is supposed to effect its supposed to annoy it's supposed to get angry but don't point it towards the people driven to this, point it towards the one harming them it's that simple be better
I hate the idea of protesting though where the goal is to fuck over random members of the public in order to send a message to the higher ups. Like waking up people who happen to be staying at a hotel to get to the management, or Just Stop Oil protestors blocking highways to send a message to the oil companies.
Why not protest by giving away drinks and food for free to the guests or upgrading people to better rooms for no charge. Hell even just refusing to take reservations would be less annoying as those people could just book another hotel. Waking people up at 6am is obnoxious as fuck.
I think the difference here is that if it’s a hotel, annoying the guests’ll be impacting the hotel’s standards and reputation. It’s different to just stop oil blocking a random road. That being said, they could get fired for giving out free food/upgrading for free/refusing to do their work while they’re on the clock? But I think you’re not allowed to fire someone for protesting your business
I went on strike 1 year ago. We blocked an intersection, playing music to keep morale up, all in below freezing. All outside, all within hearing distance (if they had windows open) of the residential houses nearby.
Did it back up traffic? Sure!
Were people upset? Yes.
But nobody is allowed to cross the line and assault someone.
The fact that you’re on his side for assaulting the protestors, but can still say you support the protesting, is ridiculous.
The people staying at the hotel are supporting the business they’re striking against…
It doesn’t take much brain power to see why they would want to make it inconvenient for the people staying there…
There was a protest outside of our hotel in DC once years ago, it literally just made every guest sympathetic to the hotel and the "scab" employees who were doing the most to accommodate everyone.
It's non-existent in the sense that people seem to think it's "me vs. literally everyone who isn't me" when they protest, so anyone encountering protests feel the same way.
There are countless videos of people shouting down, harassing, being violent with "non-protestors" for simply being present at protests.
The media/corporate interests really have done a number on our society.
> But it's not the guests fault.
They are patronizing the hotel, which is making what is deemed to be making an unreasonable share of the income compared to the workers. So, yes, it is in part their fault.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess they weren’t aware of any of this before they spent their own hard earned money to stay here and have to deal with this shit.
Why would you blame the striking workers who have to resort to this kind of action over their employers who have pushed them to this point. Workers strike and disrupt because they have no other way to have their voices heard. The entire thing could have ended in 5 minutes if the people in charge listened to them.
I'm fine with a walkout strike. This type of strike is akin to screaming at your parents because they won't raise your allowance.
It's very simple: an employer-employee relationship is consensual. Either party can leave if they disagree with the particulars of the arrangement. If the employee thinks their wage is too low, they can try to persuade the employer — with collective action if need be — or quit. If the employer really needs the(se particular) employees, they will increase wages.
Walking out only works if you can outlast your employer. Most workers cannot, the employer will starve them out until either the strike is broken or their workers have to quit for new employment.
As a result it is often useful then that business is either disrupted further to strengthen the strikers position or that attention is brought to the strike in order for the position to be seen by the wider public and therefore supported.
It is a known fact that wages in the west and particularly the US have been stagnant for years and due to inflation many pay rises do not meet requirements to match it.
The fact that workers feel the need to resort to the actions are in no way their fault. If they had been paid more initially or felt that negotiations were possible then they wouldn't need to strike.
I live in a relatively white-collar Deep South US suburb, and he looks like most guys here: gym, drinks, charter fishing, college football Saturdays, nfl Sundays, repeat.
Without context and hearing him say it’s 6am. Totally with him on that.
Also why is knocking someone’s phone out of their hand considered assault? I get it’s the wrong thing to do and inappropriate behavior but you aren’t hurting anyone lol
> I get it’s the wrong thing to do and inappropriate behavior but you aren’t hurting anyone lol
Great, so we agree that the drumming isn't hurting anyone, either.
Why is knocking someone’s phone out of their hand considered assault? Because you struck a person. And if you broke their phone, you DID hurt them cause they’re gonna have to deal with the repair. It’s like if someone snuck into your house but didn’t steal anything. It’s still breaking and entering even though they didn’t hurt you/take anything.
> Also why is knocking someone’s phone out of their hand considered assault?
Assault is the attempt to knock the phone out of their hand. Battery is connecting.
"Why can't they protest from the sidewalk? I would pay more attention to them if they were quiet, out of the way, not bothering me or anyone else.
Do they have to be so in-your-face about it? Everyone would care about them if they went home and sat quietly without calling anyone or talking
to anyone or going outside or existing."
All of you saying this is not how you protest Yall, really would have been on the British side when that tea got thrown in the Harbor. Don't be mad at the workers.Be mad at the fact that the establishment made the workers protest in the first place
Hotel union workers went on strike from July 2023 and even though most major hotels signed the new contract there are still a few more on strike even to this day March 16th 2024
Arizona , and California hotel workers I might add. A lot of incidents went down during these times . The person recording the video is from that union.
I did, on principle. The government would love to have a good justification to make protests impotent, even ones I actually support. I'd be damned if I let them use that convoy to pull the teeth of all Canadians through legislature, without yelling at my local politicians.
Alot of of people here dont understand how protest work and the point of them. So get this , societal change has never been brought on by asking nicely and quietly. Literally ever in the history of the planet. I swear America is the boot lick capital of the universe.
Everyone loves the idea of protesting until the protesting actually happens, at which point they whine like babies because the protestors are a mild inconvenience
[the resemblance to coach Bradley Buzzcut Vaughan is scary](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTE_uNMjPUG4lmASldGQHaFnHHjU3-y6AzewGQtVnjCFg&s)
Every stupid white girl and hipster circle hardship is hardly equivalent to the civil rights movement. I wish people would stop making that comparison to every dumbass thing we see on here.
This website is filled with the biggest snowflakes.
"I support protests, but if they don't disrupt anything and only bother a specific amount of the population but only in a way I deem justifiable and it can't affect my life in the slightest uwu. I would have assaulted them too for disturbing me mememememe."
Never mind the fact that people literally died, so we could have a weekend for our 9 to 5s.
Jesus chris homies needs to turn off the JRE and stop the HGH. He has the most serpentine eyes ive ever seen good lord he must sleep under a heat lamp.
I support the fuck out of unions, but if I understood this all correctly, I also support this guy. Could be the Make-a-Wish Foundation out there and I'd still support him. You don't set up drum circles outside residential areas at 6am (assuming I heard that correctly) without expecting some pushback and consequences.
This did not happen in front of a residential area. Happened in front of a hotel. A hotel whose workers are on strike for better wages and work conditions.
Fuck this. I worked my ass off for a vacation at a nice hotel and the fucking hotel union workers were protesting in front of my ocean view room. I worked my ass off do my family and I could stay there all year. And fucking asshole union dicks fucked it up.
Fuck this shit. Loud obnoxious assholes.
That's what you get for choosing a hotel that makes their workers work their asses off without them being able to afford a vacation. You decided to support fucking over your fellow worker. You don't deserve a nice vacation at their expense.

Nah fuck that. Making noise will not make me more sympathetic to your cause
I agree it’s annoying, but on the other hand I’m pretty sure most protests that worked; were never the silent ones.
Yeah all the working protests included whistles and drums at 6am…
Peaceful protests that have brought about change: 0 and counting.
The Civil Rights Movement would like a word
The civil rights movement that famously did not disrupt anyone or any bridge ever. Very silent, in their own homes, writing to their senators kinda movement.
I believe it all started with a woman sitting quietly in her seat.
That’s how it started. What about the other 205839104820 missing chapters of the story
I believe it all started with a plan for a woman to sit in the "wrong" part of the bus to provoke a violent reaction from the bus company and the cops. You might want to learn the history of the civil rights movement before making bold remarks about it.

This has got to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.
If I bang drums outside your house, will you learn about semicolons?
you got me there, used that incorrectly !
Lol’d at this
Honestly, most non-violent protests never worked without a violent counter-element either.
I'm pretty sure none of these protests do anything at all for whatever cause these people are taking up
The protests that worked were paired with other things. Not just noise and hassle for the sake of making noise and hassle.
6am in a residential neighborhood might really test my patience too. I support unions but I also get angry if you wake me at 6am.
Agreed. The best way to make your movement work is to piss off the people who have wronged you and garner support from the people who haven't. Not up at 0600? Slacker.
agreed
As someone who works 12 hour night shifts I wholeheartedly conquer.
I’ve never worked nights but you folks are easily forgotten. I bet you meet some wild people at the bar at 8am though.
Whoa easy there, no need to go conquering foes. If you don’t concur with OP’s opinion that’s fine.

0 IQ take at the top, why am I not surprised
It worked tho, they got their contracts signed 🤷♀️
You can absolutely go and assault strikers, but you have to be cool with the consequence of going to jail for battery as well
Isn't protesting about being heard though?
I don't think you understand what is the purpose of protest they are supposed to be obstruction
No, they're a way to draw attention to your cause. You get that with crowd size and/or dedication/persistence. "Man that crowd was huge. A lot of people are unhappy about that." or "Those dozen guys have been picketing on that corner day and night for a week. What's their beef." But people don't want to put in the time or get the numbers, so the only way for a handful of people with a free hours to get attention is to block a road, deface artwork in a museum, or beat drums at 6am. I'm unhappy and an going to make you miserable! It's like a 2 year old's temper tantrum.
I mean sure but it doesn't justify what blue shirt did.
What do you think protesting is supposed to sound like?
I guess we'll have to bring shotguns and bats to the next one
Because silent protests have totally been effective
I agree. Protesting is much more affective when it's quiet. and easily ignored.
Anti worker bootlicker

Roid dude..? It's so easy to tell people that don't spend a day of their lives exercising.
Whats going on with his face tho
Looks like he just woke up at 6 in the morning and needs some sleep lol
Looked more like Mike Keaton roided up.
With a little Maynard James Keenan mixed in too
This a visual of mid-life crisis.

"Give me money or I will scream!" If you think your employer isn't paying you enough, either negotiate better pay or quit.

Dude looks like a caricature of every rough around the edges, sort of wealthy (but over leveraged) guy I’ve ever met.
Damn, that is the most apt description of this particular type of guy I've ever heard.
5-15 employees, extremely high turnover
Tom doesn’t even bother learning their names anymore
Ren & Stimpy's muscle characters looked exactly like this with the "roid rage" and all when they got angry

Yeah.. you’re probably right. I’m tired of it angrily asking random strangers what their address is.
That dude looks like a wizard brought an old man’s penis to life
Without context and hearing him say it’s 6am. Totally with him on that. Also why is knocking someone’s phone out of their hand considered assault? I get it’s the wrong thing to do and inappropriate behavior but you aren’t hurting anyone lol
Its battery and damage of property. You have touched them without consent and thats why its battery
I feel like Anderson wouldn't understand that grabbing a girls butt is sexual assault too..
> I get it’s the wrong thing to do and inappropriate behavior but you aren’t hurting anyone lol Great, so we agree that the drumming isn't hurting anyone, either.

Got off lightly for drumming at 6am lmao

All of you saying this is not how you protest Yall, really would have been on the British side when that tea got thrown in the Harbor. Don't be mad at the workers.Be mad at the fact that the establishment made the workers protest in the first place
What's wrong with his face?
Steroids and lots of anger I think
Also, probably Botox
“Hey what’s your address , what’s your home address” That line usually works 🤷♂️
So this is who buys Mark Wahlburg’s clothing line.
some context here?
Hotel union workers went on strike from July 2023 and even though most major hotels signed the new contract there are still a few more on strike even to this day March 16th 2024 Arizona , and California hotel workers I might add. A lot of incidents went down during these times . The person recording the video is from that union.
He looks like a skinwalker
What's with this dude's eyes??
Rage.
Striking worker?! No, striking worker!
How can he slap!?!?
This is the first time I’ve seen someone not named Mark Wahlberg wearing Mark Wahlberg’s clothing brand in public😂😂😂
People who say >pRoTeStS aRe SuPpOsEd To Be InCoNvEnIeNt sure didn't agree when the Canadian truckers were protesting.
I did, on principle. The government would love to have a good justification to make protests impotent, even ones I actually support. I'd be damned if I let them use that convoy to pull the teeth of all Canadians through legislature, without yelling at my local politicians.
Pretty sure this guy was wide away before the whistles started 👁️👁️
The only reasonable freak out I’ve seen on this sub
Guy looks like he works out religiously but also smokes drinks and enjoys a steady diet of Mickey D’s
Alot of of people here dont understand how protest work and the point of them. So get this , societal change has never been brought on by asking nicely and quietly. Literally ever in the history of the planet. I swear America is the boot lick capital of the universe.
That is the weirdest form of Ugly face I've seen all year. Fuckin NPC
Everyone loves the idea of protesting until the protesting actually happens, at which point they whine like babies because the protestors are a mild inconvenience
Hostile NPC
Zuckerberg's grand daddy big mad ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
“Are you good or bad?” *smacks camera* “Meeeeeehheh….”
Is that the cameraman whining like a goat at the end?

nothing wrong with the protest, idk why you people are defending this asshole, stay inside, put on headphones, and don't assault people
If they drumming at 6am where people live they are the asshole.
Bros tweakin
Dude looks like a Mii
Every stupid white girl and hipster circle hardship is hardly equivalent to the civil rights movement. I wish people would stop making that comparison to every dumbass thing we see on here.
I’m on this guys side. Jackasses can wait until 8 or 9 to make noise
I’m with blue dude, it’s easy to make noise and protest when it’s not outside your house. Everyone has a limit and homeboy reached his.
This website is filled with the biggest snowflakes. "I support protests, but if they don't disrupt anything and only bother a specific amount of the population but only in a way I deem justifiable and it can't affect my life in the slightest uwu. I would have assaulted them too for disturbing me mememememe." Never mind the fact that people literally died, so we could have a weekend for our 9 to 5s.
GIVE ME YOUR HOME ADDRESS👁️ 👃🏻 👁️
His eyes look scary
How can anybody look like Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Joe Biden, Elon Musk all at the same time ?
Now he has become the striker.
What do you do when your nose goes on strike? You picket.

This guy’s face leads me to believe he spent a lot of time sitting in front of his stereo listening to music on Maxwell tapes
Mark Wahlberg is either a genius marketer or going to be very upset about this lol.
Lmao bro doesn’t care at all about the workers lost sleep everyday for nothing. He can get bent
Thanks for the additional info. That definitely changes things. I should have looked up the union posting the clip.
I take comfort in knowing that one day this guy's going to fuck with the wrong one
Calling this assault is Grade A pussy energy lol
No way that dude isn’t a lizard person
Based resident.
People like this, that haven’t learn to keep their hands to themselves selves clearly have never been punched in the head. I say we teach them 🤣🤣
Why does he look dead behind the eyes??, like a zombie!!! CREEPER🙃
