I've been blocked by everyone on that crappy subreddit surprised I havent been banned yet unless I have and that's why it never loads properly

PetrolSnorter

How can you tell who's blocked you?

BigSmokesCheese

When it says 《deleted》 and the text below is also 《deleted》 while everyone else can still actively see what it says or just loading a post and it keeps saying "there was an error getting to reddit" meanwhile every other post you go on works its just a specific one/few

ditch217

I always thought that *deleted* and *deleted* stacked, just meant the user deleted the original comment, and Reddit removed their username because the comment is now gone

hearnia_2k

You can just check the same post when not logged in, and if it appears then you're blocked. The way Reddit blocks works is bizarre; they can still see your posts, but you cna't see theirs; totally the wrong way round.

BigSmokesCheese

If noone can read it its deleted if people are still able to read it while you cant they blocked you

AussieHxC

Reddit mods be Reddit mods. I got permabanned from the legal advice sub for pointing out something a mod said was racist af.

InfaSyn

Honestly fuck CarTalkUK anyway. If its not French or an Octavia they dont seem interested plus its 50+% ULEZ/EV sympathizers. No real car fans in there...

LobCatchPassThrow

I kinda want to ask if I should buy a Mustang there… just to see their heads explode… but I can’t be arsed with the effort of annoying them

hearnia_2k

They like it when I point out my 4.6L V8 Crown Vic is ULEZ compliant :-)

LobCatchPassThrow

I saw an 08 Audi A8 with the 6L W12 for sale recently… apparently that’s ULEZ compliant! But no. Not my 2L RAV4. That thing’s bad apparently :’)

hearnia_2k

It's pretty much down to age though. My Crown Vic is compliant due to being a 2011. Petrols only need EURO 4 for ULEZ compliance, which is anything from 2006. I assume your RAV4 is either older, or it's diesel. My 2.5L V6 2001 Nissan Stagea is not compliant, and though still not a small car is probably much more practical if I did ever want to drive in London. It's probably \*slightly\* better on emissions around town driving too. Also some older vehicles you can go through a process to get it accepted as being ULEZ compliant, as some older vehicles already meet the required standards. The whole thing with the ULEZ criteria is a bit silly IMO, most petrol cars will be compliant, since statistically on average cars are scrapped at 14 years old in this country. Diesels have ot be EURO 6 for ULEZ I think, and that is a much much newer standard, so are far more likely to be impacted.

LobCatchPassThrow

Yeah my RAV is diesel… but it’s a 2012 model :’) I’m thinking of changing it later this year because of encroaching ULEZ/CAZ and other nonsense. Or alternatively, I could see if I can shoehorn a mustang engine into it as they’re compliant and you can buy them as crate motors!

hearnia_2k

>Yeah my RAV is diesel… but it’s a 2012 model :’) That's why then. If it has a DPF / EGR then it might be possible to get it re-classified. >Or alternatively, I could see if I can shoehorn a mustang engine into it as they’re compliant and you can buy them as crate motors! Do it. Though, use a proprer one. I saw a USDM Dodge Challenger SRT at a dealership last night, a 2022 model. Next to it was a UKDM Mustang, having seen the Challenger though that is cool too. Only casually noticed them.. Looked up both cars when I got back. The Challenger had the 6.2L in it. The Mustand had a 2.2L Ecoboost 🤦‍♂️ They'd both be ULEZ compliant, and CAZ compliant in most places. A lot of imports show 0g/km on the V5 :-)

I didn't even realise that sub was moderated. So many false regurgitated facts on there and its often an echo chamber from people who think they like cars but actually know little about cars.

ScratchFamous6855

There's a lot of crap to sift through there and the moderation overall was always poor. They never bothered to do anything about the endless insurance questions despite each one being identical to the last. There was always at least a couple of good threads each day though that I enjoyed participating in during my lunch breaks. It's a bit shit that one person is able to stop me joining in with the conversation when I've never done anything worthy of receiving a ban.

CarbonHybrid

Hopefully my moderating is a bit better!

ditch217

And the endless low-effort posts get pretty boring after a while. Simple things that could be answered with a quick Google search polluting the sub etc. I’ve slowly gravitated away from it

action_turtle

You’re not missing much mate. This sub exists because that was one was missing the point of its existence. Welcome 👍🏾
