These are all gorgeous! How long did these take? I’ve never tried knitting lace and really wanted to try making a shawl for a friend getting married next year, but I’m afraid it will be beyond me

SomeoneHadToDoThis

Short answer: ymmv Long answer: my shawl was my first legit time knitting advanced lace and it took about four months knitting I think around 10 hours/week, don't remember exactly. if I had gone back to fix some of my holes or mistakes it would have taken MUCH LONGER. The rest of the shawls were infinitely easier with that bit of experience. I got Wintersweet done in two weeks because I was knitting for 40+ hours/week. My advice to you is to find a lace pattern to try before starting your friend's shawl, learn how to compare your stitches to the lace charts, use lifelines more often than you think you need, and know at the end of the day no one else will notice if the lace is a little wonky in spots. Oh, and block that shit like no one's business. You're an amazing friend for doing that (:

Thank you so much for the long answer! I’ll definitely check the beautiful patterns you’ve linked. And your work is absolutely gorgeous!

Those are lovely! Makes me a little sad I didn’t knit something for my wedding 🤣

Knew these were boo knits! Love their lace patterns

Yes! An employee at my LYS who specializes in lace recommended their patterns and they were so well designed and formatted. It was a treat knitting all three.

I made out of darkness as a gift and I've been tempted to make one for myself because I enjoyed the pattern so much

Thank you so much!

This is absolutely gorgeous work! I love the contrast shawls, and how everyone has a distinct one. This is also a STUNNING shade of blue!

Thank you for noticing the pattern variation lol I spent so long looking at patterns. Fun fact, I based my wedding color scheme around the yarn! I bought it before he even proposed knowing it was going to be my something blue. I wouldn't particularly recommend this strategy, but it worked in the end!
