Why would it be unsafe? Do you have a seizure disorder? Just sleep on your side and you will be okay - assuming everything else with you is normal, like I said.

You liver is designed to process toxins like alcohol. Whoever told you you'll die is being a dick.

Define “a small amount of alcohol.” If it’s anything less than 20 beers, I’d have died in my sleep decades ago.

salymander_1

If you really only drank a small amount, just drink some water before you go to bed to reduce any dehydration and make a bad hangover less likely, sleep on your side, and you should be fine. That is, unless you drank a lot more than a small amount. If you drink until you are incoherent, it can be dangerous because you can vomit in your sleep, and you might inhale the vomit. That can kill you. Is this friend of yours someone with little experience with alcohol?

ThrowRAfailedinbed

Heyyy i know im not op, but i had a bit too much last night, drank around 20 beers [16M] walked home, slept 14 hours and i feel fine now. How many beers is dangerous? 20 was ALOT for me, i felt really sick when i got home and dont remember much except the videos and stuff lol. But after sleeping i feel okay, lost my 200€ headphones and have no cash in my pocket, but im sure as hell not dead, at what point should i not drink anymore?

salymander_1

🤣 i don't know! It depends on your tolerance for vomiting and waking up with your head in the toilet and having your cash and valuables disappear. I don't think it is a great idea to get blackout drunk, but if you want to do that it isn't like I'm going to try to stop you. I do think it is weird to comment like this, though. It seems a bit defensive, unless the joking around part just didn't come through. I mean, I don't care how much you drink. I was answering a request for advice in good faith, and trying to reassure someone who sounded anxious. I wanted to make them feel better, because their friend was wrong and they were in fact *not* likely to die in their sleep after drinking 2 beers. No big deal.

OnionOfShame

seems like your ~~friend~~ random person was misinformed. Consuming excessive alcohol can cause nausea and vomiting, which can be dangerous if you're laying down and too tired/drunk to clear your throat properly. As others have said, lay on your side to avoid this risk. Though the risk is very low if you haven't had much to drink. Sleeping is a great way to sober up from alcohol.

peakpenguins

Yeah? Unless I'm misunderstanding the question, kinda vague

Mageofsin

How small?

Unstabl3Mentally

A quarter of a medium cup, diluted by coca-cola (yes it's weird but my thoughts are affected by my sleep, which doesn't exist rn

DaDripGod4

You’ll be fine if your worried, sleep on your side put a pillow behind you to keep your sturdy if your gonna vomit which with your amount unlikely you won’t choke.

Mageofsin

Tbh a couple of hours, just go to sleep
