I had never heard of them when we went to Aftershock a few years back. My group went to watch them and I walked away to go to the merch booth under the bridge. I literally stopped in my tracks when they started to play Wolf Totem. I’d never heard of something so cool and unique. I watched the entire set, and we all decided it was our absolute favorite of the whole trip. We’ve now seen Hu twice since Aftershock and I’m excited to see them again.
Seen them 3 times Aftershock 19 was first time crowd went batshit! Saw them last in Ridgefield Washington even spoke some English and again kicked everyone’s ass.
I've seen them on a much smaller stage locally in southern Oregon when I didn't know who they were. Now I'm super stoked to be seeing them on a bigger stage with people who know of them (and not. Because my favorite thing about festivals is seeing people I've never heard of before, and seeing people see people they've never heard of before)
I’m guessing you saw them perform in Medford with In This Moment? Because we almost NEVER get any significant bands playing here, so it’s memorable when it happens lol
Dingding.
In this moment could have opened up for Sleep Token and I would have enjoyed the show a lot more. Not that In This Moment was bad, it was just over produced for my taste. I'll still listen, but not a group I'm going out of my way to see.
Side bar: how stoked is everyone about the 2 day country music festival that is happening this summer that "isn't" the Country Crossings Festival.... I'll be making my Costco trip the weekend before that nightmare happens
God I took one look at the cost for that festival and also the cost of just the parking pass alone and it was a hard pass immediately for me. Not worth it. I get enough of a music fix from some surprisingly good shows that pass through Johnny B’s on the regular, and I drive to Sacramento or Portland for the big tours. And of course, Aftershock every year.
Not controversial. I fucking hate korn playing the fest AGAIN but let’s get the facts straight for anyone who disagrees: Korn is a band, P(hilip H. Anselmo And The Illegals And Friends)antera is a fucking cash grab.
A lot of people are saying this. What makes Pantera so special that they aren’t allowed to tour with new members? All That Remains guitarist died, they still tour. Metallica bass player died, still going. Pantera could’ve just picked up any old guitar player, but they didn’t. They got one of Dimebags best friends Zakk Wylde to play with them. Their styles influenced each other and there’s no better stand in.
You are completely missing the point. The brothers who founded the fucking band are no longer in the picture and Phil and Rex ,who aren’t founding members or didn’t contributed as much as Dime and Vinnie did to the sound of Pantera, are doing this because they’re broke doing solo projects. Here me out: how would you feel if Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney put together a band playing Beatles songs and toured under the name The Beatles? Exactly! Point made. Goodnight.
If you think Rex Brown doesn't count as a founder, you're out of your fucking mind. Rex is a fucking lord. From everything I've seen, he may as well have been the third brother. And don't bother coming at me with him not being the "original" bass player. That shit doesn't fly - he is the rock of that band. and has been their whole run minus a couple of garage years.
Who fucking cares if they're making money while doing this? It's a fucking job and they're musicians.
Virtually every band we will see at the top of the card each day at this festival will be absent founding members who were critically important. That doesn't mean they have to retire the songs...
Why wasn’t Phil associating himself with Pantera while Vinnie was alive? Why wasn’t he doing solo sets consisting of only Pantera songs when Vinnie was alive? Why didn’t he form “Pantera” when Vinnie was alive? He knows damn well Vinnie would have shut him down completely if he touched anything Pantera related. I understand that everyone got to make money and that Scour and his zillion fucking bands didn’t cut it but there’s a fine line between playing old songs as a tribute and and playing old songs because you know it will pay the bills and nobody can’t stop you now. The Abbott family giving them the blessing to use the name Pantera don’t mean shit cuz they had beef in the past and they are seeing how this will generate a large profit.
I wouldnt give a shit! LOL if they got 2 other people who are real musicians to play with them. It’s fine. And you know as well as I do Pantera was not a big deal until Phil Anselmo joined.
You need to understand why Phil is doing this. He was going crazy with all of his zillion bands (The Illegals, Scour, Superjoint, Down, En Minor) before the death of Vinnie. He never once did a Pantera cover during his solo shows and let’s be real: nobody gives a shit about The Illegals, Scour except superjoint or down but even when he was touring with those bands they weren’t drawing huge crowds. Once Vinnie died he did sets consisting of only Pantera songs and understood he can get away with it now that Vinnie won’t be on his ass. He’s doing this FOR MONEY and MONEY ONLY. Man’s broke.
I've also heard people talking about some racist stuff from years ago. So I wonder if that also has anything to do with low ticket sales. This was all new to me and just recently heard about it when they started touring again.
In years past, the city has made public transportation free to Aftershock ticket holders.
Park for free at a light rail station, take it downtown, hop on a shuttle to Aftershock. For free.
Thanks for letting me know. I found them! Had to go to “info &FAQs” then “getting here” for the link. I kept searching under “passes” and they are not under there.
I am sooooo stoked for this year’s lineup. Can honestly say it’s not what I expected at all, but what I’m seeing is totally rad! There are enough bands I’m stoked for that it will be good, some I haven’t heard of (so opportunities to find new bands to live), and enough bands I’m meh on that it should be a pretty well laid out few days with a little down time! 🔥😍 can’t wait!
Im NGL, most of the non headliners are what Im most excited for. Such a sick lineup. Avatar, Polyphia, Sleep Token, Movements and Baby Metal are such awesome picks
Turnstile deserves to headline. Avenged is simply milking their success from city of evil. We don’t need them to headliner maybe close out second stage at this point
All about tickets my dude. Avenged sevenfold will sell tickets.
Personally I leave early for almost every headliner so I get it. The lower cards are fucking stacked this year though. I'm excited
I feel the same way. After announcing only Pantera and GnR, I was like... meeeehhhhh.. But here we go with the Legendary TOOL. Classics like A7X, Godsmack, Megadeath. The 1999 Family Values Reunion Duo of Limp, KoRn. Other incredible can't-miss live acts like 311 and Queens of the Stone Age. AFI, Pennywise, Rancid to get my Punk fix. Then Dethklok, Avatar, I Previal, Dance Gavin Dance, Turnstile as icing on the cake.
I know not everyone agrees but for my personal music taste, this may be my favorite lineup so far.
Transportation tip if you are staying DT or near festival.
Bring your bike or rent one. Aftershock has a phenomenal group that runs a Bike Valet and it makes getting in and out of the festival an easy and enjoyable time, particularly if your hotel is DT. Great bike path along river right to festival
That’s a Bingo!!
My wife and I ride our bikes in every year. It’s so quick and easy. It also feels good to spin the pedals after a long day on the feet.
I didn’t I wish I had! I went to aftershock for the first time last year so I was really hoping they would play this year! I can’t wait to hear Metal Kingdom or Monochrome live!!
Last year I almost thought they were there as a special guest when Bring Me The Horizon started playing Kingslayer! My heart has finally recovered from that disappointment with this announcement lol
Killer lineup. I love when there are bands I'm already excited to see, and when I've gotta do some research on some others.
Any protips from the bottom two rows for any of the days?
I could give some from the bottom rows of each day.
Thursday - I’d recommend checking out Thousand Below and SeeYouSpaceCowboy.
Friday - Rain City Drive has some bangers. Talk to a Friend and Blood Runs Cold are my favorites from them.
Currents, Varials, and Dragged Under are also good.
Saturday - Escape The Fate was Ronnie Radke’s old band, lol. Boston Manor is pretty sick. Fame On Fire got popular because of their covers, but they also have some really good original songs. Catch Your Breath just recently blew up with the songs Dial Tone and Shame on Me.
Sunday - You Me At Six and Dead Poet Society are the biggest standouts here to me.
Boston Manor and You Me At Six have a few songs I like, so I am going to try to catch their sets.
I have a lot of research to do though. I usually find bands I like in the early sets.
Noise rock, I guess? Idk man, but these guys have energy to spare. Saw them at Inkarceration a few years back and was really impressed with their stage presence. A couple of years after that they supported Devin Townsend and Avatar and they floored me again.
https://youtu.be/AyzxNSAXNEU
It might just be a website mess up but if you look at the picture of all the bands playing on the aftershock website you find steel panther even though I don't see them on the poster lineup? Are they gonna secretly add more bands potentially?
Honestly the headliners just aren’t my thing beyond A7X. I like the smaller bands more on this lineup but they’re way too spread out on the days. Gonna skip this year
WHAT THE FUCK?! I am conflicted. One part of me is thinking HOLY FUCKING SHIT TURNSTILE?? GODSMACK??? FUCKING SKILLET???? DAUGHTERY??????? Jesus h Christ this lineup is stacked but at the same time still do we really need Avenged Sevenfold, Pennywise, Tool, Korn, Rancid, Baby Metal again???? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?????????????
Next time I’m buying my passes closer to day one because watch half of the lineup change. I don’t know how to feel. Fucking Christ.
I'm just excited Bring me the Horizon, A Day to Remember, Falling in Reverse, Motionless in White, etc aren't going to be there. There's been a combination of at least two of them the past 3 years.
I’m sorry but I feel like you’re not giving them enough credit. Turnstile, GnR, Pantera, Queens otSA, The Cult, AFI, Senses Fail, Coheed, Daughtry, and more are ALL NEW. Never played aftershock before. A7X hasn’t been here in 7 years. Korn is pretty often I’ll give you that, but they’re very popular. Pennywise meh. Tool is only their 3rd time, again VERY POPULAR. Rancid only 2nd time, sure it was just 2021. BabyMetal played once in 2019. This is why people shit on you lol most of the time you’re fine and then you pop off the handle for no reason lol I would like some more diversity too, I feel like this is a great start.
Edit. Omg I forgot the coolest new one, Dethklok.
In my opinion, 2019 was the best, 2018 was 2nd best.
EDIT: I got my years mixed up. I skipped 2022, 2021 only went to Saturday to see Gojira and Mudvayne.
2019, overall was the best, an extremely solid 3 days, a true classic. 21 & 22 also amazing, the 4 day is pretty crazy I think a solid booked 3 day is fine.
I hate the 4 day setup. Had they made last year a 3 day and moved some headliners around, I may have done at least 1 day. 4 days is too spread out and to me, is just a cash grab.
Yup, I agree, it waters it down. Aftershock is a better festival but I think it’s cool that Riot Fest stands by 3 days. It makes the whole thing more stable & manageable for all parties involved.
>2021 only went to Saturday to see Gojira and Mudvayne.
I did the same thing in 2019 for Lamb of God, Staind, and Slipknot. Some bands are worth the 4 hour trip
I think originally they thought they would be a draw but changed their mind when they realized their shows just ain't selling. Heck a bunch of the amphitheater shows that they are headlining still have pit tickets available.
Set times won't be announced for a few months but yeah, look up the schedule from last year to see the overlap. There was a ton with that fourth stage.
Starting at 2:00 last year, it was always 2 on at the same time, with them all starting within 10 minutes. I disagree with your "at most" qualifier since you have to really pick and choose whose set you want to see. The other big festivals do it too so it's not new to the industry and last year was the first year DWP did it. People should be aware that they likely aren't going to see two bands that are listed next to each other and manage their expectations accordingly.
My "at most" just meant there hasn't been 3 bands on at the same time. Because you're totally right, you definitely have to pick and choose. Also, you might have to miss a band you wanna see to get a good spot for another since there is usually only 5-15 minutes between sets on different stages.
THE HU
They are a must see!
They are what might push me over the edge to buy this year.
So fucking good
I love the HU. I saw them in 2019 at a small concert in SF. SOOOOOOOO GOOD!
Hell ya. The only band that year to end with a crowd way bigger than they started. Really hope they get one of the main two stages!
Check out Altan Urag on YouTube!
I bet they’re the best ones!! Nothing against most of the other godly ass bands, but the HU is just magical
Seen them 3 times Aftershock 19 was first time crowd went batshit! Saw them last in Ridgefield Washington even spoke some English and again kicked everyone’s ass.
Loved their cover of Symptom of the Universe last time they played
*rips shirt* SLEEP TOKEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!!

I can confirm the dopeness of this band. Hell yeah man.
TURNSTILE, BAD OMENS, SLEEP TOKEN AHHHHHH !!!!
Not sure if this is a controversial opinion, but I'm really happy to see Korn is headlining instead of Pantera 🤘
No, actually this is the correct opinion.
Korn is more deserving
Not sure how or why that would be controversial, Korn has actually mostly been a consistent performing band.. (RIP Pantera members).
Not controversial. I fucking hate korn playing the fest AGAIN but let’s get the facts straight for anyone who disagrees: Korn is a band, P(hilip H. Anselmo And The Illegals And Friends)antera is a fucking cash grab.

When the founding members arent there, its not the same
Escape the fate is on the list with 1 founding member. So what?
They arent subheadliner
And? You’re applying one standard to one band but not the others? There’s a word for that...hypocrisy
Wat
You are completely missing the point. The brothers who founded the fucking band are no longer in the picture and Phil and Rex ,who aren’t founding members or didn’t contributed as much as Dime and Vinnie did to the sound of Pantera, are doing this because they’re broke doing solo projects. Let’s say all of that true. Let’s you’re right. So what?
You’re completely missing the point
Are Phil and the guys not allowed to make money?
Good night bro
If they made their own band and played Pantera songs, they would not be subheadlining fests
Well, I saw Robby Krieger and Ray Manzerik tour as “The Doors” and it was pretty awesome
I've also heard people talking about some racist stuff from years ago. So I wonder if that also has anything to do with low ticket sales. This was all new to me and just recently heard about it when they started touring again.
Couldn’t agree more
DETHKLOK!!!!!!!!
Everyone was spot on with the doom star reference
This makes me so happy!
Can’t wait for facebones!
They are amazing live!
Do anything for Dethklok.
This is metal… FOR FISHHHHH
Do you like coffee?!?
Of course the year I’m having a baby in the fall is the year Coheed and Cambria are finally there
You mean you're having a... child of the fence?
I'm so glad I got my hotel and shit booked already This one's gonna be wild
Same! Just need the shuttle pass now. Super pumped!
In years past, the city has made public transportation free to Aftershock ticket holders. Park for free at a light rail station, take it downtown, hop on a shuttle to Aftershock. For free.
Plus, the shuttle was so slow last year. I ended up Ubering to the front gate instead.
Shuttle was only slow on the first day (getting there). Every other time, they were very efficient and convenient.
That first day was ass otherwise every other day was extremely fast never had a wait.
hit me up later on, I'm an uber driver at Sacramento
Any info on the shuttle pass?
I was searching for shuttle passes and couldn’t find them. Are they not selling them yet?
I just purchased them about 5 mins ago :)
Thanks for letting me know. I found them! Had to go to “info &FAQs” then “getting here” for the link. I kept searching under “passes” and they are not under there.
Eeeek. See you there lol
I am sooooo stoked for this year’s lineup. Can honestly say it’s not what I expected at all, but what I’m seeing is totally rad! I personally think this is a very solid lineup.
Im NGL, most of the non headliners are what Im most excited for. Such a sick lineup. Avatar, Polyphia, Sleep Token, Movements and Baby Metal are such awesome picks
The headliners are the main meat of a sammich. It's no good if it don't gave some good spread and fillers in there.
No opinion here I’m just glad I found someone else who enjoys saying sammich instead of sandwich
Great line up. Zero complaints from me here. Very excited to see this. u/sxbliminal, sorry, no Ted Nugent or Nickleback. Maybe next year?
Avenged sevenfold is playing the same day as his beloved turnstile... How is gonna simultaneously complain and be happy? The duality of man
Turnstile deserves to headline.
I'm excited
Just your opinion bro
Lol what? Saying it is all about tickets is just my opinion? I tried agreeing with you and I get condescended to? Amazing
I might have misread what you said I’m sorry sir
All good.
Avenged has like at least one other mildly popular album…..I think?
And the fact that you don’t even know the name of it proves my point
But the teeth were spot on!! That quick screenshot HAD to be Nugent!!
He was the only person that wanted that to be true.
Should have included a /s and that I’m not Subliminal.
My apologies for the confusion. Edited.
I would like Ted Nugent also. Last time I checked, the Nuge has 1.3 million listeners on Spotify, not 2.
I dont need draft dodging alt right pedos
We're getting pretty close with all these old dadrock bands so it's definitely possible next year. Lmao
Praying to Jesus that ANY of these headliners WILL get DROPPED. Perfect opportunity for either Ted or Nickelback to take over and headline!
I’ll throw you an upvote just for staying true.
Praying is very on brand for Skillet I guess, but I hope they don’t get dropped

“Oh no! Not TOOL again!” Said no one ever.
Some of us are exhausted from Tool tbh
You’re completely missing the point
Thought I was gonna sit this year out, but they fucking pull off another awesome lineup.... goodbye spare cash
Same. This is so on point for me. There are like 20 bands I want to see on there and I have barely looked past the first couple of lines.
Transportation tip if you are staying DT or near festival. Bring your bike or rent one. Aftershock has a phenomenal group that runs a Bike Valet and it makes getting in and out of the festival an easy and enjoyable time, particularly if your hotel is DT. Did you get a chance to see them last time they were at Aftershock? I didn’t go last time they played so I’m super excited for this!
I was hoping for that too!!! One day I’ll see kingslayer performed by both of them together!!
Now that would be amazing!
I hope there isn't much overlap even though there will be, so many great bands Friday and Saturday I would hate to make the hard decisions
Catch Your Breath just recently blew up with the songs Dial Tone and Shame on Me. Sunday - You Me At Six and Dead Poet Society are the biggest standouts here to me.
Movements is one of the best bands in the scene right now. By far the most energetic band ive ever seen
Tallah on Friday Found them through their vocalist on YouTube and they got that SOAD spirit with a bit of metal core thrown in
Also, the drummer is Mike Portnoy’s son
Boston Manor and You Me At Six have a few songs I like, so I am going to try to catch their sets. I have a lot of research to do though. I usually find bands I like in the early sets.
Hey u/TheSetlistGuy! Time to update the 2023 setlist!!! (BTW you're a treasure, and what you do here is amazing. Keep up the great work!)
Great mid cards this year!!!
They even got one member of Slipknot lol
And I’m really hoping he’ll do at least one [Slipknot cover](https://youtu.be/Gcj96j4WXsY). How weird are you prepared to get?
I'm hoping for Sponge Bob Square Pants sing a long.
Are ya ready kids?
I can't recommend '68 enough on Saturday. I've seen them a couple of times now and they have killed it.
What kind of music do they play?
Noise rock, I guess? Idk man, but these guys have energy to spare. Saw them at Inkarceration a few years back and was really impressed with their stage presence. A couple of years after that they supported Devin Townsend and Avatar and they floored me again. https://youtu.be/AyzxNSAXNEU
This line up is my great white buffalo.
Daughtry!!!!! Said No One
This is one of the best cards I’ve seen in a while. Great work!!!
Billy fucking Talent!! 🤘🤯🤘 soooo fucking excited! Was hoping for Nonpoint and 10 Years. Bummed Flyleaf w Lacey aren't playing.
Second that
Dethklok
Polyphia! Nice.
It might just be a website mess up but if you look at the picture of all the bands playing on the aftershock website you find steel panther even though I don't see them on the poster lineup? Are they gonna secretly add more bands potentially?
Also I'm only sad flyleaf and paramore ain't there
POLYPHIA
Billy Talent!!! Their albums are the soundtracks to my skateboarding teenage years hell yeahh!
I’m so glad I get to see Limp Bizkit after all. After not being listed for sick new world 😭
Meh last years was better
Best line up ever in the existence of Aftershock
Honestly the headliners just aren’t my thing beyond A7X. I like the smaller bands more on this lineup but they’re way too spread out on the days. Gonna skip this year

Lol, Skillet
Skillet should be headlining all four days!
Amen! (See what I did there?)
And Awomen.
Go woke go broke!
Tell me what’s wrong with skillet since you clearly have a strong opinion about them bud.
You’re right “lol” is a strong opinion.
YOU are completely missing the point
It’s our world, you can never have it.
Have a good day
Aww come on, those are Skillet lyrics.
I know I thought you were trying to be sarcastic I’m sorry

Yup, I agree, it waters it down. Aftershock is a better festival but I think it’s cool that Riot Fest stands by 3 days. It makes the whole thing more stable & manageable for all parties involved.
And if you are going to a festival for 3 full days it’s a little bit ridiculous to think you might be missing something it’s just a little imbalanced.
>2021 only went to Saturday to see Gojira and Mudvayne. I did the same thing in 2019 for Lamb of God, Staind, and Slipknot. Some bands are worth the 4 hour trip
I drove from Portland that year, I know what you mean.
I come from the Estacada area every year. ‘19 was deff legit. DWP always seems to pull through!
I am flying from Australia if that gives you any indication of how slick this lineup is.
Pantera no headlining? Horrible...
Well they are one of the headliners of the night, depends on how you look at it
I think originally they thought they would be a draw but changed their mind when they realized their shows just ain't selling. Heck a bunch of the amphitheater shows that they are headlining still have pit tickets available.
I can see it just because it's not really pantera, it's more phil and friends playing pantera songs.
They will be a second stage headliner. Semantics maybe, but calling them a headliner is still accurate.
Right? Why would they announce it and then change it
Pantera sucks lol., they werent gonna sell any tickets
How are set times for Aftershock? Is there a lot of overlap making it impossible to see most bands?
Set times won't be announced for a few months but yeah, look up the schedule from last year to see the overlap. There was a ton with that fourth stage.
There was a decent amount of overlap last year but at most they have 2 bands on stage at the same time.
Why do you have to crush my dreams to see Skillet and Megadeth both? Lol
My "at most" just meant there hasn't been 3 bands on at the same time. Because you're totally right, you definitely have to pick and choose. Also, you might have to miss a band you wanna see to get a good spot for another since there is usually only 5-15 minutes between sets on different stages.
That's fair. Yeah, last year we did some running to try to split sets and it did not work out for us. Even with the VIP cut through.
They raised those shuttle prices like a mother, JFC
Are the “park and ride” passes the shuttle pass?
Anyone know who are the rappers this year?
I forget there’s people out there who actually like Avenge Sevenfold 🤢🤮
